Obviously in tougher games I fold, and if the bad players aren't deep I fold, but the players are bad and deep enough to play way more hands in position in this game. Shrug.

I got out and lifted today, finished my weekly lifting requirements.

Today I lifted for 80 minutes, bringing my weekly total lifting time to 240 minutes

Actually a couple lifting sessions went a few minutes longer than 80 minutes this week, but w/e I know I got at least 80 in each time.

Here is what I did today:

Bench Press 95 x 25
Jump Rope 220 reps in 220 seconds
Donkey Kickbacks BW+45 x 34
Bench Press 95 x 25
Step down jump-ups BW+20 pounds 16" x 25
Cross Leg Diagonal Crunch BW+45 x 34
Narrow Grip Bench Press 95 x 25
Kroc Rows 52.5 x 27
Incline Sit-ups BW+5 x 25
Narrow Grip Bench Press 95 x 25
Right leg lateral jumps BW+20 pounds 23" x 25
Bicycle Crunches BW+45 x 34
Wide Grip Bench Press 95 x 25
Left leg lateral jumps BW+20 pounds 23" x 25
Toe Touch Crunches BW+45 x 34
Wide Grip Bench Press 95 x 25
Forearm curls 20 x 20
Seated curls 30 x 15
Barbell curls 45 x 30

Reset my bench press by 5 pounds and hit all the reps, zero failures which I am happy with.

Now off to practice some disc golf and then play racquetball.

Alright, finished my Spanish level 4, started level 5 today! I just have to finish this by the end of the year to avoid any fines. I should finish with plenty of time, and then I plan on doing the whole level 5 over again because it's getting pretty tough. But it's good.

I'm not sure how it happened, but I have an annoying rib injury. I think it's from max effort disc drive practice yesterday, perhaps the 45 plate I load on my chest when I do ab work, either way I'm not sure how it happened, I just noticed it was pretty painful. But hasn't stopped any of my activities so far.

Today I got out and lifted for 61 minutes.

Here is what it looked like:

High Bar Back Squat 155 x 10
Dumbbell Shoulder Press 30 x 25
Heel Touch Crunches BW+45 x 36
Tip Toe Squat 155 x 10
Dumbbell Push Press 40 x 20
Flutter Kicks BW+45 x 64
KB Goblet Squat 70 x 23
Barbell Wrist Curls 90 x 25
Leg Raises BW+45 x 21
Deadlift 225 x 15
Dumbbell Wrist Curls 27.5 x 20
Russian Medicine Ball Swings 25 pounds BW+45 x 32
Stiff Leg Deadlift 185 x 15
Behind The Back Barbell Wrist Curls 80 x 25

Really happy getting the overhead pressing work in, felt good. My forearms are on fire with all the work I did there, and although I didn't struggle too much with the DLs it felt a lot heavier than I thought it should have.

Now off to get the rest of my steps and play PLO!

Hand #13

Just sort of a funny hand here that has been set up through playing where I play for a long time. A solid player opens to 25, an action player raises to 60 on the button and I look down at red AA in the SB.The solid player has about 500 behind and the action player started the hand with 300. I cover.

I was pretty torn in-game with raising and flatting. I'm pretty certain that flatting here is better many times, especially not being that deep. I might get the initial raiser to spazz isolate, and if not I can C/R all in on basically any flop.

But here was my thought during the hand: the action player is almost certainly getting in his whole stack in no matter what and if I flat here I'm giving the solid player a pretty good price to try and out flop me. The best case scenario would be that he flopped a hand big enough to commit all his chips with but lost. I think there's a pretty good chance he throws in the 35 extra dollars and folds a lot of flops so if I raise here I'm sacrificing some potential extra money but have a much much higher chance of winning the pot, and winning a pot that prob wouldn't be much bigger with the pot/implied odds I would be handing over if flatting. Add in the fact that the game has been extremely small, nitty, slow and I was more interested in locking up the win than taking a gamble at losing a bigger pot in a game that would be tough to get it back in.

So I make it 125. The solid player folds pretty quickly and the action player jams. I offer a free roll in this game in hold 'em, if anyone wins with T5 I pay $10, I have for a few years. So this time he shows up with T5 and I scoop a few hundred easy dollars.

Hand #14

Pretty crazy hand here. MP raises to 20, the button and SB call and I look at KTo and decide to squeeze to 125 after not really feeling major strength from anywhere. To my surprise everyone calls so we take a flop 4 ways.

It comes 235 with two diamonds (my cards are black) and the SB ships her last $95 into the $500 pot. I really really hate my spot. If I'm last to act it's an easy call but with the players behind me it's kinda gross. I hate just folding for 95 in such a big pot, so after a moment I decide to flat after sort of guessing nobody behind me smashed that flop, and I don't think anyone is gonna ship it really light.

MP folds and the button calls as well after thinking for a while. The turn brings off suit T and now I obviously love my hand based on everything else that's happened in the hand so far so I ship the remaining 500 in my stack. Now the button goes into the tank for quite a while and finally calls with 65. The river is a K and I hold on to win a pretty big pot in pretty strange fashion.

The squeeze is probably not great preflop considering the SB was so short, but she ended up have K5 so I had that hand in bad shape. The flop call is pretty questionable as well, I think. I basically had the best case scenario happen, so I don't think it's awful, but I certainly got lucky in the max way.

There's a $10 straddle I limp 77 UTG and the next player min raises to $20, with about 80 behind. After 6 people call I figure I'm ahead of the raiser so I make it 380. Probably a bit much, but nobody at the table had much more than 500. I really didn't think anyone was limping along with a better hand than mine, but a limp re-raise from UTG might just be strong enough to scare one of those hands away. The original raiser sort of shrugs and calls off his last 80 and the rest of the table folds rather quickly. He shows up with JT and I have a great overlay in the pot and a slight edge on busting the short stack.

Hand 16

We're playing short handed and it folds to me on the CO and I make 15 with the Ah8h and only the SB calls. The flop comes KJ9 with two diamonds and he checks to me. I c-bet 20 and he pretty quickly calls. Although I didn't think it was a terrible flop to C-bet I think it's a pretty bad board to continue with after he calls so I plan on shutting it down on most runouts.

The turn brings an off suit ace and he checks to me. My immediate reaction is to check back but I realize that I'm going to be giving up a ton of value to all of his draw hands and all of his hands that he's just going to station with because he generally calls me down a bit lighter. I think I'm checking this way too frequently here so I bet 35 and once again he quickly calls.

The river is a brick 2 and he checks. I think his range here is super weighted toward weak hands and missed draws so I opted to just bet 35. I'm not going to fold out any better hands with a big bet and I might get a crying call from weak hands. If he's got a busted draw he's not calling anything and I don't have to show my hand. He flashed me T8 as he folded. Turn value!

Hand #17

Weird hand I messed up here. I straddle the button to $10 and after a few people limp a very tight short stacked player goes all in for $115 and the CO flat calls. I look down at TT and don't really know what to do. I'm pretty sure the all in player has me beat but I don't know about the other player who just flat called. I feel it's likely that I'm ahead, but probably not by a big margin against his range. So I'm probably beat by the all in player and coin flipping against flat caller. But my hand feels to strong to fold with us each having 500 more behind and I have position. So I finally decide to call.

The flop comes 962r and the flat caller checks to me. I'm pretty certain I've got the best hand so I bet 200. It felt sort of bad because I felt beat by the all in, and if I get a fold I prob just lose the main pot. But I felt like I had to try and protect my equity in the slim chance I had the best hand. After a minute the folds AK face up. The board blanked out and the the all in player won the pot with QQ.

Obviously if I ship all in preflop, he's calling with AK and I win a much bigger side pot than the main. But I'm really not sure what would have been my best play. Folding might actually be the best play here as annoying as it is, but I think it's close.

Hand #18

I raise the CO with AJ34ds in a short handed game to 15. I pick up the button and the blinds. We take a flop 4 ways and it comes KJ3 with two clubs giving me bottom 2 and the nut flush draw. After the blinds check I pot it to 60. The button calls and the BB calls so we take a turn 3 handed.

It brings the Ah to make back-door hearts a possibility and give me aces up (3 pair, actually) to go with the nut flush draw and the BB checks to me. I think it's a pretty close spot here, but after deliberation I finally decided to check. I felt like if I make a big bet here I'm not folding out a ton of worse hands, and def getting action from all the better ones. The really bad thing would be to bet here and get raised because I don't have the right price to call a big raise, and still have lots of ways to make a better hand. Not sure really, but I felt checking this time. The button checks and we take a river 3 ways.

It brings a total blank and the BB leads for a pot sized bet. He's an action player and def capable of bluffing here but I folded right away along with the button. He flashed the exact hand I was afraid of, the QhTh and I got off super cheap. So this time I made the right decision to check the turn, and I lean toward this being the right play more often than it might seem like.

Hand #19

Not really anything spectacular but it's something I've learned about bluff sizing based on what hand range I believe to be up against. I raise the high jack with 5d7d to 15 in a short game and get the CO and button to call. I haven't play much with either player but they have both been extremely passive. The flop comes T23r and I check pretty quickly, basically planning on giving up. They both check pretty quickly as well and look fairly disinterested. The turn brings a 4 putting up a couple spades. I lead for 35 and the CO studies her cards and the board and calls. The button folds and the CO stares intently at the board as the dealer puts up the 8h. I think her range is extremely weighted towards Ax hands and some flush draws. I see a lot of people bet big here hoping to get a fold due to no showdown value but I think that's bad. If she's got a hand she's calling with she's probably calling any normal sized bets, even bigger ones. But I figure since she's got missed draws so often, it's easy to just bet small here and fold out all the draws and not be charged too much when I'm wrong. So I bet 35 again and she folds right away.

Hand #20

This is just something weird that happened because I was paying attention. Probably played the hand poorly, but oh well. Player sits down and buys 500. It folds to him and he throws out 20 without looking at his cards. He didn't announce it or anything, but I was certain he had raised in the dark and no one else had noticed. After a few people had called I looked down at JT93ds and decide to make it 100 from the BB. It's pretty spewy, but I was kinda hoping he would just look down at trash and fold and everyone else would also. Add in the fact that no one else had more than 500 and I can't get punished too badly, and hopefully have decent equity if a shorter stack takes a stand. The opener ends up calling and we pick up another caller on the button and take a flop 3 ways all with just over a pot sized bet left.

The flop comes JJT and I luck sack over-play my way into the nut full house first to act in a healthy pot. When I flop big like this I like to lead but I don't want to give either player a chance to fold. And when the pot is this big I want to give every chance I can to my opponents to make a worse hand or spazz out dead. So I check and sure enough the original opener pots it to almost all in. The other guy folds and I raise the rest of it and he's like 'I call. If you're full I'm dead.' So I end up winning a nice pot due to a weird dark raise and ambitious 3 bet out of position.

Got out today and did my compound lifts. I've said all summer that even though it's hot, I like the heat. I embrace it. There are many worse things. Like being stuck inside when it's raining. But man am I finally over it. Just so tired of it. We're in the second half of September and this Sunday is forecasted to be 97 degrees. I wanna watch football in the cool crisp Autumn air, dang it! Oh well, it'll be over soon enough and midway through February I'll be longing for the heat again.
