No, unfortunately it's still bothering me. I'm gonna have to end up passing both hammers, so if I come in anything but last place I will be doing some serious mocking of the guys I beat whilst skipping events lol.

I think if I had one more week I would've been ok, but it's just not worth the risk because the very first event tomorrow is the heavy hammer. I would be even more upset than I am now if I did something worse and couldn't do the other events, so imma be smart, pass, and still do 7 of the 9 events.

i hope you come in last, just so it doesn't soulcrush the guy you beat to know that you didn't even do all the events and still beat him

miles,

You do realize you can take a practice jump first? Like just straight up.

lulz, yup.

The jump was much easier than I thought it was gonna be. I jumped in the pool after training (squats), took a practice jump at 2', practice jump at 2.5', and then two successful jumps at 3'. That was it. You could do it.

Video that action.

i get fully out of the water, but adding the forward element and having to land on the edge makes me sad. i'm not normal when it comes to being scared of stuff either. like i can do a back flip from the edge of the pool no problem but this makes me scared. i also used to worry that if i drink something ice cold after something hot that i might crack my teeth, for example. irrational fear syndrome imo.

that is awesome, lol.

the practice at 2' would give you the necessary confidence.

shallow end is 3'. also watched your video again and realized i'm not completely gay. my pool actually is scarier. there's a concrete lip that hangs over the water and there's about 6" between the top of the water and the top of the lip. basically like the pool in the jarron gilbert video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXDSPbZ_OUw

Did the people you beat compete in all of the events?

Celtic Classic 2010, Bethlehem, PA - National Championships

Braemar Stone - 41'+
Open Stone - 51'+
56 WFD - 39'+
28 WFD - 82'+
22 Hammer - 92'+
16 Hammer - 111'+
Caber - 85 degrees
Sheaf - 30'
56 WOB - 15'

Overall - 7th (tie)

Well, at least it's over, lol. I'm obviously thrilled that I didn't get last place, and just being there is so much fun.

I threw the hammers with no hammer boots and all right sided to protect myself. I'm not hurt worse, so despite the absolutely awful distances, I'm pretty happy. I think if I would have had one more week of rest/rehab I could have been close to 100%.

My 56 WFD and 56 WOB were atrocious. My 28 WFD, sheaf, and stones were on par with what I've thrown all year.

2 more games this year, I can already smell the offseason lifting....

It's a great time, just a huge street festival really. I had heard gate numbers of 200,000 people. It was packed when we were throwing, that's for sure.

gorilla, how much training do you think it would take for this man to beat everyone in your highland games?

lol never. im not sure why you would think a professional weightlifter could become a professional thrower.

how much training do you think it would take for me to win olympic gold in weightlifting?

exactly.

Wait... so you don't think Rezazadeh could win the highland games even after 5-10 years of training?

No disrespect meant at all, you're ridiculously strong... but:

Reza training to win throwing =/= You training to win olympic weightlifting

prob should specify which era reza you're talkin about. 2010 version might not be what he used to be.

long torsos and short limbs are good for oly lifts and not so good for throwing imo.

There is a lot more to being a professional thrower than being strong.

Weightlifting and Throwing are such a different skill set. Sure one is quite complimentary to the other, but the direct correlation ends there. That's like saying he also could have been a tackle in the NFL, or won a gold medal in the discus, etc... just because he has a good snatch and clean and jerk.

Several Olympians have competed in Highland Games, some with success, some not.

This is obviously based on when he is plucked to do this '5-10 years of training', cause that would make a difference for sure.
