Is the back squatting (and widening the hands on the last set) instead of front squatting easier on the elbows?

Nope, it's actually probably worse. Fronts are getting rotated in next week, so I'll be able to say for sure then.

The widening of the hands was for comfort, and is usually where I am anyway. I was trying a narrower grip seeing how it would go. Once the weights get heavier, it hurts. So I'll stay wide.

Meh. Wanted 5 with my last set but...no. My right arm (injured arm) was lagging, which I didn't really notice til the last set, and then again after looking at the plates and video. Sucks, but I suppose it's to be expected since I've basically been injured for 10 months now. I see the doc next Monday, and as much as I'd like to not get cut on, I'm not sure I'll have much choice if I want to continue competing.

Doc Appointment

Well, despite training going relatively well as of late, my arm hasn't improved. Hasn't gotten worse either, but that's a pretty small consolation prize. Having run through my options, the choice was pretty clear. Surgery is scheduled for January 4, 2013, with rehab starting on January 5, 2013. We didn't ultrasound or MRI today, because...what's the point? Doc is just gonna cut it open and fix whatever is wrong. We'll anchor the tendon with screws or sutures if needed, and then clean up the rest of the flexor mass. My understanding is that the rehab is gonna suck, and I'll really be cutting it close to being ready to throw in May. But that's the goal.

I would retire from Highland Games if that was the only thing I couldn't do at this point, but the fact that I'm limited in other things, especially playing with the kids, makes this an easy decision.

I guess there will be lots of SSB Squats in my future

I will throw any bday rungood I'm due towards your recovery (bday is Jan 5th). Although I may have used up my rungood this morning.

Sucks about the surgery, but hopefully it will fix everything super well. Our of curiosity, what is the rough recovery period for this type of surgery?
