I think you bros are right.

Male with heart issue, USA#1 ftw.

They don't mess around with the billing though, they had sent the bill for the helicopter ride while I was still in the hospital, lol. I received the day after I got home.

Glad to hear you're OK. Heart attack for a healthy 41 yo dude in good shape seems really odd. Did you have any risk factors (e.g. high cholesterol)? Did they give you any sense of why you got one?

Genetics and high cholesterol, yes. I had actually just started taking a statin about 5 months ago.

They did note something about emerging research in marathoners/bodybuilders/athletes/etc and the intensity of exercise breaking loose some plaque, body attempts to heal, RBC completely blocks the artery = acute heart attack.

So doc basically said I could have been anywhere between 20-80%, when some likely broke loose. No way to really know at this point. IANAD and haven't looked at any research on that, but it makes sense to me.

I guess this will be the cardiac rehab log for a short while, lol. There's not really a plan for someone like me, I guess, and doc said to just listen to my body, so that's what I'll do.

Hopefully loco will be ok with me logging my walking now, as I kinda have a doctor's note, lol.

Does the doc think you will get back to normal? If so, how long does he think that will take?

Despite being as close to death as I was, apparently there was no damage to the heart. So, yea he doesn't see any reason I can't get back to normal. I even asked about competing again, and he seemed ok with that if I wanted to.

He couldn't say on time frame, but the way this last week went, I can't see it being much longer (assuming the medications don't do anything to prevent). I'd like to move normal weights, for me, in November.

I'm curious to see if the 10lbs I lost will return as well, or if I'll have to force that.

Gorillas4ale,

I'm not seeing much lower body lifts, and your calf's look smaller than your arms. The proportions of these guys are not good, don't do this and please start squatting/lunging/leg pressing.....

Awesome job on the weight loss btw!

looooool

Well, I last squatted on 9/16 and had a heart attack on 9/18, which required them using an angio-seal on my femoral artery, so you're right, I've been slacking since then. I'll work on that.

For the record, my calves and arms are the same measurement.

I remember back in the day, they used to say arms, calves, and neck being the same measurement was proportional. I'm glad my neck isn't as skinny as my arms and calves though.

G4S took less time to recover from a heart attack than I have from most of my career's injuries/setbacks/minor illnesses

They opened a Planet Fitness 1.8 miles from the house. In my younger days I would have shunned such a place, as they me. But nowadays, and considering I'll need a place to cardio once it starts snowing, I'm in for $10 a month. Checked it out and played around on the machines.
