Sorry about the bicep that sucks, hope you heal quick!

Have I just been blind for years or are distal bicep tendon ruptures becoming more common? Outside of like pro sports, where I have heard of a bunch, I know more and more friends and family getting these. It also happens in a variety of ways, boxing, jiu jitsu, weight lifting, moving furniture, and even using a large copier.

Well, my every day challenge was a failure, after I made it 291 days in a row. Day 291 was a 0500 session before surgery. I figured I could keep the streak going, but the anesthesia gets me so sick and beats me down that I missed the gym the very next day. Perhaps a new challenge for 2020, just not sure what.

Oh, I had an open distal bicep tendon repair after a complete rupture (while mountain biking). Riiiip and rolled right up. Tore it clean off on 10/12/19, saw the doc on 10/13/19, had surgery on 10/18/19. Rehab is underway and continued surgeries are getting old. That is all.

Happy turkey day bros.
Ouch! My understanding is that this heals about 6 times faster if you get it repaired quickly like you did. Heal up fast!

My current understanding is that surgery is basically scheduled as soon as swelling does down, so you just kinda derp around being swollen, then they operate. (For virtually everything btw.)

Maybe one of our doctor bros can help enlighten us on this.

Congrats on gaining weight tho G4S? Looks like loco would've rekt you on the BMX bet.

A few months if all goes well. Currently things are not going well, bicep/tendon seems to be healing fine, but I can't supinate or pronate my hand much past neutral and the pain is rough there. We're trying to figure out what's going on there.

Thanks!

Yea, it's always seemed common to me, but that's likely just the activities that I was around.

The quicker the better on almost all surgeries. Waiting on this one makes it much more difficult to get the tendon back where it needs to be. It's a pretty neat surgery watching them reach up and grab the tendon.

Always like it when someone posts a vid that needs to be 18+ and isn't porn. :/

I'm shocked a random injury would affect your motivation!

yeah, this one sounds worse than some others because of what you said in bold. My understanding is its about 8 weeks healing if they get the surgery done quickly and its about a year if you wait much more than a week or so after the injury. A teammate of mine had this done a couple years ago quickly and he was rehabbing at 8 weeks. Another friend of mine waited something like six months or a year after his injury to have surgery. He had to wait about a year to rehab it.

I watched the part where they pulled the tendon out. That was enough for me to see.

Ugh, that is a bummer but you have very good results recovering from surgery. Glglgl!

I know what this injury is like because it reminds me of fishing for the last beef jerky in the package - can really be so difficult. Anyway, hopefully I will be ok. Also you and the injury. Heal quickly bruh. K.

Yea, not sure why youtube thought it necessary to flag a private video, lol.

Groundbreaking, I'll probably write an E-book for all my training and recovery nuggets like that.

I knew that if anyone could relate, it was you. Good luck with your fishing expedition.
