I tend to agree, but this does kind of emphasize the importance of activity level, that truck driver is the fattest career in America. Unless it's demonstrable that they eat dramatically worse than average Americans.

Even losing like like 200 cals burned daily from inactivity compared to the (already sedentary) average American is devastating when compounded over years and years. Can't out-exercise a bad diet indeed, but maybe they wouldn't have been fat to begin with if the exercise had been there all along.

The diet is indeed considerably worse than the average American diet. It is fast food three or four fast food meals per day plus truck stop snacks (think gas station chip aisle, only larger) to eat while you are rolling all day long every day. Plus, free soft drinks!

Occasionally, instead of fast food, you come across a diner, so you can have your biscuits with sausage gravy to mix things up.

(It is obviously possible to eat well, but it simply isn't done by truckers)

I do read your log, and I'm not entirely certain that you are the same species as the rest of us.

That is a compliment, btw.

This is almost true, but not quite.

Michael Phelps out-exercised diets consisting of thousands of calories of pizza and ice cream daily. So if you're that level of freak, maybe you can do it. But it's not a plan that anyone around here who is trying to lose weight should consider.

Weight 196.6. I double checked using a doctor's-type scale (the one I originally used to determine that I was up to 224 lbs when I started this log) and a new scale.

It turns out that if you use an $8 scale and put it onto a fairly soft floor inside of a big rig that you don't get accurate readings.

Good work!

For the scale, maybe try a piece of wood to put under the scale? And, you can always weigh yourself on that scale right after weighing in on a proper scale to get an idea if it's over- or under-weighing you.

I threw away the super cheap one and got a slightly less cheap one. I'm taking that one out of the truck and putting it on the asphalt or concrete when I am weighing myself. It is still somewhat inconsistent, but far better than before.

I might pick up a flooring tile next time I am near a Home Depot. It will be quite a while before I am going to need a lot of accuracy, since every little bit of data I am likely to see will indicate the same action plan.

Also, thanks! It is nice to get confirmation that I am subject to the laws of thermodynamics.

The thing that is bothering me is that I'm so ****ing unfit. Granted, I realize the ravages of age and basically a 20+ year party will do that. But it is still disappointing that a four mile walk is something I am waking up sore from.
