That sleep schedule is better than I've had in years.

Hit the gym at the gym at my kid's apartment today. Also overate with him and his wife over the last few days. Paid up on a fitness bet I had with her this evening.

Too lazy to get to the gym, but did mess around with some stretchy bands twice in the last week, got a decent amount of walking in, and got an ok amount of physical work done.

Weighed 196.4 this morning. Absolutely no attention to diet has happened recently.

This is a long thread but if you or anyone else wants to lose weight, without exercising or without having to count calories you can go keto. I tried it, bought the strips, pissed purple. I'd have to refer to my fitbit logs to be accurate but I lost 40 pounds in maybe two months. I wasn't in ketosis every day of those two months. I alternated between keto and low carb. A few beers alone would kick me out of ketosis.

The question is are you able to go keto as easily as i can. I did it as a sort of experiment mostly. I was overweight but not by much.

I find counting calories and filling up on veggies and keeping protein intake fairly high works well when I do try to lose weight.

I'm pretty sure that the important thing is finding something that is easy for the individual to stick with. Glad your experiment went well

Right now, I'm just focusing on exercising and don't really care much about my weight.

Was a general one. What i meant to ask there is: "can one go keto as easily as I could."


I'm curious about this as I have a suspicion that the more overweight one is, the harder it must be to cut carbs and sugar due to my understanding of insulin resistance? Yet Tyson Fury did it.

If I may hijack your diary a little more before I bounce as it may help someone...

I checked my fibit logs which are the only logs i ever logged. 43 pounds lost between 12 march and 15 July of 2021.

This involved no real exercise and eating whatever sized portions or however much I wanted with one simple rule: little to no carbs.


That's what surprised me most. Massive portions of fat and protein. Then something interest happened. When you cut out carbs you are more satiated and less hungry, more of the time.

Scrambled eggs without the toast. Cheeseburgers without the bun. Cauliflower rice in place of rice in curries. Nuts as snacks. Full fat milk and yoghurt.
I could go on. Refer to a site like diet doctor.

Then you can go to down the rabbit hole of cholesterol, the sugar industry's conspiracy and the whole low fat debacle. If you don't think sour when you think of yoghurt,and instead think of dessert then something went wrong...

There are essential fatty acids and essential amino acids. Carbs aren't ever essential. But that's why I quit keto. My experiment was done. Carbs are an androgenic. I became too scrawny.

I have a feeling that people who are massively overweight have more trouble with dieting in general. That is why they are massively overweight. It takes some diligent and sustained overeating to become huge.

They would, if chained up in a cellar and not given the option of making their own food choices, definitely lose weight more quickly than a less tubby person, no matter the diet.

Your experience with hunger being reduced after being on a keto diet for a while is fairly typical from what I understand.

My guess is that keto would work fine with my body, but I would have some major lifestyle and enjoyment issues with it. That would limit my ability to comply with the diet, so I wouldn't.

Didn't get to the gym at all. Had some sort of stomach flu thing. No weigh-in since I got sent out of town.

I did learn that freezing fog is a thing in Texas. ****ers here can't drive worth **** when there is light rain, so it was pretty fun.

I left my Fitbit charger at home since I had no idea I'd be out for two weeks, so no tracking. But I don't remember being particularly tired, so I guess I got sufficient sleep. I did stay mostly on the same schedule for the two weeks, which helps a lot.
