Either it was diet related or due to him buying some expensive magic exercise equipment that is popular with truckers who are long on credulousness. Probably not the exercise equipment though.
Trust me, it wasn't the carnivore diet that caused his congestive heart failure, that I can assure you. He most likely got it from eating the standard american diet for like what 50 years, then for a few months went on a diet that got blamed for it.

This way of eating makes people much healthier not sicker, that's a fact. People who want to be healthy, happy, and feeling great should stop eating bread, flour, sugar and plants, among many other chemicals and substances, and feed their bodies with what it was designed to live on instead of processed, man made substances that are keeping everyone from obtaining their optimal health. The standard american diet creates a lot of fat zombies with foggy minds, no motivation, energy or endurance. Eating a pure carnivore diet is the absolute best diet for the human body by far. A lot of people who go on it to "try it out" never go back to the old way of eating.

I thought it was "never believe a man who says 'best kept secret.'"

Interestingly, the diet does seem to cause some cognitive defects.

Again, I'm not trying to derail your thread or anything, but any cognitive issues will be gone within days to a week. One of my best results is a clear, euphoric mind, and as a poker player I'm able to play marathon hours without it affecting me at all.

Tbh, I had some issues such as anxiety, depression and PTSD from watching a relative die 5 years ago. I had trouble sleeping at night, and often woke up in the middle of the night in a panic from a nightmare. After only a few days on this diet it started to get better, and after a few weeks it was totally gone. I'm also sleeping great every night. We're learning now that those problems actually start in the gut from the foods we eat (the gut/brain connection).

You had two people already suggest this diet to you, because we've gotten some amazing results but whether anyone wants to follow it is up to them. There's an old saying, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink".

It also seems to cause jokes to fly over the head, from what I've experienced recently

I think I might be back...

Bounced up to around 208 a few months ago. Weighed in at 192.8 this morning.

Aiming for about 1 lb / week weight loss this time around. I'm starting a new job in about 5 weeks that should allow for a more consistent sleep schedule, which should help with getting some exercise in and better meal planning. The new job will include some physical activity from time to time, which is nice.

I am very deconditioned currently.

Taking 4 weeks off work starting at the end of this week to kickstart getting back into shape, or possibly just being really drunk the entire time. Or both. Probably both.

My general plan is 1) high protein and veggies with low to moderate fat and carbs. 2) hike. 3) pick up and put down some not-so-heavy things. 4) maybe some hiit once I don't get winded doing number 3.

welcome home!

Will your new job still be driving or are you doing something else?

I also am fat now and need to pull my head in. I might use your Lazarus like re-appearance to eat a little less chocolate and crisps

Still driving. Just with some added helping to unload the trucks sometimes instead of sitting on my ass all day. Plus a lot more money

I'm pretty sure that you don't qualify as fat. I don't even qualify as a fat truck driver, since I'm not remotely close to 300 lbs.

Believe it or not, but knowing we are the same age is helping to motivate me. Makes it hard to use age as an excuse. Granted, I'm not short on excuses

more money is definitely better, good stuff.

yes, I imagine you're the fit one of the truckers you know - must be an incredibly tough profession to stay in shape with given the hours and sedentary nature and bad sleep. How is your sleep looking?

I am chuffed if it's the case that I can provide any motivation and I do hope you can continue. Having a 5 in front of your age really is a sign that it's important to take health, fitness, weight more seriously. Not many fat 80yr olds out there. One of my best mates is turning 50 next year and he's on a big health trip now to drink less and train more.

And yes, I probably don't qualify as fat to most people, although on the Loco-ometer I would be for sure. But I am proof that you can't out train a bad diet - I've put on about 4kg since last October and am currently sitting at 93. I was 85 when I was doing crossfitting seriously a decade ago. My diet was a lot cleaner when I was bro-ing at the gym 4-5 days a week but all this cardio I'm doing gives me a ravenous appetite for carbs and I've given myself 'permission' to eat more of it too. Plus, heavier is 'better' for rowing, so there's a small amount of me that's scared to drop 5 or 6 kg as it'll probably make me marginally slower. Still...I live by the beach and Spring is round the corner and I don't want those Japanese whalers harpooning me...

Re:sleep. It has been bad. It is rare for me to start my day at the same time two days in a row. I woke up at 3am this morning and have to start a long shift at 6pm this evening. Hopefully, I will be able to get some sleep between now and then. The new job should be better.

I am sure that you will be able to cut weight if and when your motivations change. Athletic pursuits involve trade-offs, as you know. If being a bit fluffy helps your performance, no one can argue with what you are doing.

We are all obese on the locometer, so might as well eat a lot and enjoy it.

Congrats on the new job and weight loss!

Thanks, man. I did do a full body workout today. Very light, one set per body part nowhere near to failure all on machines. Also peddled on an exercise bike a little bit.

I get the next couple of days alone with a friend who thinks that mashed cauliflower is food, so that should help with the diet part of the equation.

So, the plan for the next month is to hit the gym for full body "strength"* 3-5 times per week and alternate hiking, rowing, cycling, treadmill, stair master, and treadmill based on joint pain.

Treadmill and stair climber for a total of 24 minutes today.

Didn't drink. Didn't eat too much.

I wouldn't eat much if mashed cauliflower was on the menu

For a full body strength/work out nothing is better than a lot of cocaine and three hookers. Stop being so elaborate and concentrate on the simple essentials. Better results in less time and much more fun. Enjoy!

Mashed cauliflower was indeed on the menu. It was pretty good as part of a dish. Not sure if I'd eat it by itself.

I only have one penis, so three hookers would be wasted.

Another full body one set per body part workout again today. Also 30 minutes cardio split between treadmill and exercise bike.

also…coke really not that useful when rooting.

Far better performance at the back end taking a load of ecstasy/mdma/Molly.
