That "no red meat" propaganda stuff got me thinking about how many animals must die each year to feed me. I eat probably 6 chicken breasts and thighs per week, plus a couple lbs of pork and the occasional fish, other seafood dish, or beef meal.

I'd estimate in a given year 150 chickens, 2 pigs, 20 fish, and 1 cow die to feed me.

Not counting small fish like sardines or eggs, how many animals do you eat each year?

probably around 100 cows, chickens, and fish +a few cartons of babies

To clarify, just cause you're eating beef doesn't mean a new cow has to die each time. Unless you're eating like exclusively cow tongue or something where there's only 1 serving of it on each animal.

For me maybe 10 aren't born for the purpose of the slaughter, all of them fish.

Note: If you eat shrimp or the like (Mussels/clams/oysters etc) with any amount of regularity... You're gonna crush the 300.

I could get by eating like 30 animals a year. In reality, I'm probably closer to throwing a rape party on a 1000.

You could cut out the cow's tongue without killing it.

None. 99% sure I would do better in a bioethics test than 99% of people too. The two are not really that connected though.

Bioethics isn't about answers. Its about thought process. You can back up infantcide with very sound arguments, doesn't make it less right or more right than someone who believes birth happens from the moment of conception.
