That's rough man; sorry to hear it. Are these sorts of sleep issues typically short duration for her, or can you expect this to continue for a non-trivial length of time?

Well never any certainty. The last time this particular issue happened to this degree, it went on for about a month and then another ~2 months at half/quarter frequency. But, that was like 9 months ago and lately she shakes things off a bit faster.

As mentioned in Rexx's log, I take Glycine and Theanine specifically to help me get restful sleep in the face of multiple wakeups, but there are limits to the effectiveness.

I'd recommend forgetting about the yoga when the caretaker comes and just try and get some sleep. I really feel for you, when my dad was sick he used to wake multiple times during the night and I had to get up and check on him. It was seriously brutal and I only got through it by taking naps during the day when he was napping, even then it was extremely hard.

Take care.

Wound up going to doctor as symptoms worsened and then caretaker came later. Tried and failed to nap so went to yoga where I nearly puked up my 3 CFA lunch all over the superhot gloriously tattooed one beside me, but held it back like a hero. I mean, I suppose I could have puked on the guy on the other side of me, but doubt I would have been looking that way.

It is amazing how little can be learned by going to the doctor.

True, but they still need to sign off on certain things, legally - plus you want it on your record in case you end up in a hospital.

Thanks! Not quite feeling fully rested or energetic yet, but the stress relief of working out will hopefully help get the brain back in gear. I *could* have worked out yesterday but have learned through experience that if last night was then troubled I'd be totally, totally screwed.

Hot Yoga

Disc (frisbee) Golf:
1st outing of the year, includes 1st time throwing anything. 6 holes left handed 2-disc scramble with the dog after rain but before dark. My spinning tee throws were rusty and I couldn't do anything beyond just a straight low path so distance was pretty lol. Regular standing mid-range throws were pretty great, actually. Power to burn now. Need a new set of heavier discs--not a single wobble even today. Putting weak but that's to be expected. I may...be able to make par over the summer if I can just string together multiple times of actually playing. It really helps that the course is set up to be tough on righties.

Hot yoga back to feeling in rhythm and easy breathing.

Overhead Squat 3x8x45, 5x105
Front Squats 6x155, 5x225, 3x245, 3x255, 3x265
Fat Bar OHP 4x170, 4x180, 2x190 (F3), 1x190 (F2), 3x4x175 to RPE 10
1-leg RDLs 2x5x155

Deadlift SSPTs (~20 second rest) 3x1x385, 4x1x395, 3x1x405 (F4)
1-arm Kettlebell swings 2x24x55

I guess today felt reasonably good except I sporadically got lightheaded after the heavy deadlift singles. Did SSPT style to reduce time. I may have been able to power through the last one (was probably over halfway there) but thought there was a reasonable chance I could pass out if I did so as I was feeling slightly worse than the most lightheaded rep and didn't feel like I could release any breath. I was drinking Downtown's recommended Sivation Extend BCAA so I assume that's what did it. That 335 felt challenging for sumo, especially the first rep. Used straps for everything until the heavy singles--getting used to them.

OHP was maybe a bit aggressive to aim for a top set of 4x190 and I actually had a pretty bad grip position for the first attempt, but I feel good about the drop sets. Think I found a form problem where I'm trying to push straight up instead of up and slightly back--the weight moves easier and faster when I do it right, but also have to be a bit careful to avoid pushing too far back.

I just forgot to circle back around for heavy pullups.

Round Back Chinups 2x6, 2x5x+30
Back extensions 2x12

Easy run 15 minutes
Uphill Sprints 6x40

Quite a rush session. Didn't have a rack available so essentially wind up using my thighs as the rack, if that makes sense. Actually feels kinda cool deadlifting the fat bar. Squats felt a lot better than I expected--should have gone for more weight, if I had time would have gone for another set at 335, but gym was closing. At least I felt like my form was good. Went for some quick sprints to make up for lack of drop sets or "heavy walkouts". Bench press was painless, which is nice with a little uptick in weight.

Weird day in the gym as new equipment was arriving and most things being re-arranged. Luckily it wasn't bench press day but I wound up doing some strange circuits. Had not been planning on doing heavy-ish trap bar deadlifts but it seemed easier by that time. Also spontaneously decided to do more than just warmup snatches & cleans and switch frontsquats from heavy to higher reps, which was fun. Not sure where to put the RPE at the end of the front squats just because I'm really not used to being winded and feeling a burn in my legs. Been worried about dips due to the lingering shoulder-area pains and they did indeed feel lousy during warmups but then totally fine for the actual worksets.

The Program:
Quote:
Day 31
Bench: x6 @10, 6-9% Fatigue
Squat: x2 @7, 4-6% Fatigue
Bench: 120% Hold x8sec, 3 sets
Actual:

wu Hammer Curls 24x25, 16x35
wu Bar snatch 2x3
wu SOTTS Press 2x6x45
wu Overhead Squat (5 sec descent, 3 sec pause) 2x5x45
Snatch 2x3x95
Bench Press 9x155, 6x205, 6x215, 6x225 (RPE 9?), 2x6x210 (to RPE 9)
Front Squats (3 sec pause) 5x155, 2x225, 2x245
Safety Bar Back Squat 5x155, 3x245, 2x315 (RPE 10), 2x325, 2x335 (RPE 7.5), 2x2x315 (RPE 8?)
Round Back Chinups 5x8
Pendlay Rows 12x135, 2x8x185
Cheater Rows 8x135, 8x155, 8x165, 8x175, 8x185
Power Cleans 3x135, 3x155, 3x165
BTN Push Press (wide grip) 5x135, 4x155, 3x165, 2x175
Push Press (wide grip) 2x175, 2x185

Walked in feeling like dog ****. Felt good during the lifts but wheezy stumblebum in between. Finally tried the safety squat bar (just for variety) and that thing is pretty difficult to mount due to the rotation involved--this is the reason I nearly tapped out on my first set of 315, better unracks made the subsequent sets easier. The actual lift felt more like a low bar squat with a sort of upright upper body.

Bench press felt fine but it's been a while since I've done sets of 6 and didn't feel like pushing until RPE 10.

Tried some of those maniac cheating rows suggested by that freak with the 900 lb deadlift and the bony legs. Felt alright though I wasn't trying for a challenging weight.

Push presses, I'm just slightly afraid of lowering the weight in BTN position though everything has actually gone fine so far. I'm not afraid of it in regular position, but it does *hurt* a bit. I'm quickly growing to hate the SOTTs press.

I'm a little annoyed at having to cram in a quick session again. For whatever reason, I just didn't have it on OHP today--could have been the rush/not enough warmup or it could be doing push presses last session and pretty good (if I do say so myself) handstands and wheels in yoga yesterday. Wound up calling Sumo my DL for the day just because time was getting short, but that was fine as the weight at least felt challenging, and glad I fit some sprints in on the way home. I'm more annoyed that I didn't get any pullups, dips, or shrugs in.

Front squats was a strange last set as the first rep was out of whack double-clutch out of the hole thing and a tremendous strain to finish, but then the second was fine and the third fine but excruciating (I mean excruciating but without a badly rounded back). Like the yips on a front squat?
