I ask because I just don’t have the mobility to get my back flat doing full deads thus I’ve been doing raised Deads or RDLs.

Hamstring stretch/development is definitely a positive for me ATM
Curious what your DL set up looks like where you're unable to get into position.

RDLs can be done with either bb or db, but bb is typical in my mind when people post it. If it feels more awkward than dbs my guess is you're doing something incorrectly.

I did RDLs with the bar today. I was referencing SLDL

What if you do them elevated? They should pretty much feel the same except you're starting from the ground as opposed to standing. Do you have any bend in your knees?

When I’m doing a body part split, I do standard deadlift on back day and rdl as a support lift to my squat on leg day

Recently after going through some movement analysis from an exercise physiologist I’ve been advised to do a lot of one legged exercises to rectify a strength imbalance caused by my knee reconstruction and I’ve been doing one legged RDLs with a KB. Actually a very good way to hit your hamstrings.

Some bend yes. And yes I have done them elevated the last few times until today

What about it feels more awkward? You should essentially feel like you're doing a hip thrust/extension whereas in a conventional dl it's more like a leg press.

Yeah SLDL is in a way easier than DL because it's more of a pure pull, as opposed to a push with the legs and pull with the hips and back simultaneously. The only thing that's harder about it is that it takes slightly more hip mobility.

I posted this in the chat thread but thought might get more traction here.

Does anyone have a Traeger or Big Green Egg or similar? Need advice as to what you like/don't like. Definitely want to be able to grill or smoke. Ease of use important as I am fairly terrible with grills.

Thanks

Traeger:
Runs on electricity(needs to be plugged in)
Easy to use.
Precise digital temp control (Smoke to 450 F)
Runs on wood pellets

Green Egg:
Temp control is via airflow and is analog. Wider temp range down to 150F for smoke and can run way hotter than a Traeger.
Uses charcoal.
Requires more frequent maintenance and clean up.

Basically for ease of use definitely go with Traeger, but you're giving up temp range particularly on the high end if you want that.

The egg there is a lot more work involved into manipulating the temp, but once it's at a certain level it will hold for long duration and stay even.

What's your goal weight? What weight did you start at?

Started at 250...down to 230 now. My goal is 210 right now but I might adjust when I get there.

My goals are health #1 and increasing clubhead speed #2. Everything else is just ancillary for me at this moment. Maybe when I get to target weight I will try to regain some strength but for now just trying to maintain as much as possible.

Oh ok, we're kind of on a similar trajectory.

Are you tracking anything other than calories? How long have you been cutting for?

Ahhh, amazing dogs. Our next dog is one of a bernese, golden retriever, goldendoodle or bernedoodle (poodle mix mainly because of the shedding).

Yeah the doodle thing is great. My daughter has very mild asthma but shedding wouldn’t work. They are great dogs with incredible temperament. Highly recommend

I've been cutting more or less since July 1 at pretty much 1 lb/week loss.

I do track my macros but honestly don't pay near as much attention to them as the overall calorie count

There he is, true warrior. All heart

He hated water but I once pretended I was drowning in the ocean and he came chasing after me. Of course I had to save him, but a true warrior nonetheless. All heart.
