Fear - your scapulae are coming too far forward when you slide the weight down toward your knees. Part of this is that you need more "butt back" and a much bigger part is that right as you're getting ready to pull you rock your upper body forward then back. Otherwise pretty good. Arms maybe bend a little early.

Fear, everyone at every level can benefit from working on the dirty dancing drill, rock-n-roll drill and the sweep the bar drill by don mccauley. Google the name of the drill w dons name and you'll find them. Great stuff.

Tighten up your body when you press. Looks like you knees aren't locked. I would recommend you lock them out, flex core, glutes. I think your wrists are bent back a little too much.

Also for snipe, my cleaN form is getting much better from taking the clean one step at a time. Work on just high hang cleans (weight starting at the hip) and once those or totally consistent work on from hang below the knee. You are not hitting the correct posotions.

This comment does not bode well for me.

snipe - hang cleans imo
konrad - yeah lock out knees. also don't pause at top and bottom.
fear itself - getting to the hang looks good, but it seems slow afterward, like you are just getting yourself into what you think is a "jump" position before the weight really moves. once you get to the proper hang position just stand up very fast. press barefoot or in flat shoes, too. your weight is too far forward (watch your feet).

^^

Squats: Looks like you need to get a little bit deeper.....may be tough to squat good in basketball shoes though. Definitely don't shuffle your feet around in between reps

Deadlift: looks pretty solid, maybe a little bit of lower back roundage that could be fixed

Anyone have any critiques on these?

I'm the one in the white shirt deadlifting, not the one doing yoga

When you get to the top, stand up tall (not back farther), and squeeze your butt checks together. Hump the bar, but do not lean back.

Cha --

Thanks for posting that article. As someone new to Starting Strength, I had always heard the "tighten the back" mantra but never quite knew what it felt like. I'm looking forward to incorporating it on Monday's workout.

give me some feed back on some high hang cleans. the hang cleans are with 52kg and are from a few weeks ago. the 2 single high hang cleans are from today with 60kg.

***note: i am not normally scheduled to work out today since i did box jumps and death marches yesterday but tomorrow is passover. my hamstrings were pretty fried.

clearly form is not perfect. i'm working on the dirty dancing drill every day. not sure what cues i need to be working on, even though i can tell this isn't quite correct. I want to have my high hang perfect before i start from the hang.

I posted on your thread at the pendlay forum. Some of these reps are looking really good as far as the pull goes.

Thanks for the replies. That's cool that we're on both forums together. I think I'll be able to reproduce the two singles as the weight goes up because the videos are a few weeks apart with the better ones being more recent.

Time to work on hang below the knee and adding weight!

go to the youtube editor and rotate the vid plz

a good rule of thumb is to always deadlift from the floor and not the wall

DL looks ok, but the bar doesnt go straight up & down. That seems to be because the weight you're pulling isn't very heavy. When the weight starts to get heavier, that will take care of itself.

Squat looks like it might be just a little high (hard to say for sure from that angle), and a little too far forward. Try to sit back on your heels.

Thanks for the input! A few questions about DL:

How does my back look? Is it staying straight enough? After DLing my lower back feels a little tight and idk if it's supposed to or not.

Also, I'm a little unclear about how to get the bar back down to the ground. Am I supposed to get the bar below my knees before I bend them?
