The problem is there is no logic behind this. As you can see in Khalyn's vid, his knee extension is already done
before the bar comes off the floor. Thus, the hamstrings' involvement in the lift is actually minimized.
Now, in other powerlifters you can see a style that is similar (like
Pat Mendes), but where his legs aren't completely straight when the bar breaks off the floor. I've seen thremp and prob others argue that Rip exaggerates the effect his technique has on hamstring involvement, which is probably true. Khalyn clearly extends his knees too much before lifting though.
Under any circumstances, I can't see a reason why the non-Ripples setup is actually
more effective. Their argument is basically a non-argument, knee extension without lifting is irrelevant.
