Sad

What the heck is going on? The SOS (sedentary obese smoker) lifestyle is worth -20 years.

The coronavirus is probably worth a few hours of life because 100000/300million is 0.

Yes the work stuff is stressful but that's out of your control. Really sad to see that first post and then see this dumpster grease fire thread. Please kill me from this thread montecore.

Yeah I've gotta get back to logging.
265lbs this morning

It seems I will only be working from home this next week and then will have to go back into the office. I will be back to my normal routine except we are doing 4-10hr days now and a rotating on call schedule for the weekends. Being back at the office should help with set eating times and food availability....can't really be eating a bowl of cereal, a baloney sandwhich, and the some smoked salmon+cream cheese on crackers and hour later at work.

How about you simply focus on not eating so much?

Start. Right. Now.

Be happy if you actually start to feel hungry at times. I guarantee you're never hungry, you just get a bigger appetite.

Okay, so Ive deduced I'm getting laid off around the first part of June and need to start applying for jobs ASAP.

I really really like this job and don't want to change jobs, so could someone double check me here before I start blasting my resume everywhere and getting ready to sell my house?

1. Industry is in the shitter, but department is already running skeleton crew.
2. New boss is totally sexist, like he would rather take barbed wire up the ass than work with any woman that isn't his secretary.
3. The company sold a project that I help the sales team with last year. They had a kickoff meeting with the customer. My boss did not invite me on the meeting, when the sales guy noticed this he invited me. My boss then tells me the invitation got sent to too many people (basically I wasn't supposed to be on the call.)
4. Sales guy says he wants me as the Engineer so I get the job. Job isn't supposed to be completed/delivered until late October-beginning of November as the customers site won't be ready for the equipment and they don't have anywhere to store it.
I get to work and notice my boss has moved the schedule up to complete the project 3 months early which is no bueno in getting major equipment on time.
5. I speak with my boss today trying to find out why the schedule was pushed up and letting him know we couldn't get the major equipment in time to build it with the new dates. He was talking in circles (typical as he is a dummy and doesn't know what the **** is going on ever). I was just thinking he was being a dummy again and didn't understand we couldn't get equipment in time, it would cost money to store our final package, it would cost money for preservation, etc., so I was bringing all that up and he finally said , "well we aren't going to have the resources to finish the engineering after June 6th"....well I'm the only person doing engineering on the project, so......

So, I'm for sure getting laid off and need to get another job now before the job market is flooded, right?

I am sure it has been said before and I'll say it again. You're much better off keeping this log to H&F stuff only. If you really want feedback on this you should post it elsewhere. You'll get similar answers but you'll keep your log cleaner.

Yeah, I'm just really stressed right now and don't have a single person irl to talk to who could actually provide any kind of sound advice. It's hard to focus on H&F when so much else is on my mind and I've been there before and know what's coming and the dang struggle.

Okay, it seems now I am getting laid off next week. I asked about extending the work from home and the reasoning for not doing it given was that we will be having face to face /one on one meetings next week.

So I'm going to start getting a plan together to keep myself from going into a catastrophic lazy fat oblivion while searching for work. Looking good and fit will help me land a job, so that will be motivation.

I'm going to maintain my same daily sleeping and eating schedule and start focusing on building small habits again that can translate to a new job/work environment.

I always tend to focus on too much and what I'm learning is that I just need to focus on one simple thing at a time and complete it without worrying about anything else, then move onto the next thing....same with habits.

How do you know “for sure” you are being laid off?

J, come on man
First my boss says my project schedule has been pushed up because there won't be engineering resources to do the engineering. Then when I ask if I can continue to work from home longer because all the schools and daycares are still closed and the answer is no because they need to have in person one on one meetings.
April 22nd would also be my 1yr anniversary with the company and would qualify me for severance pay, 401k vesting, and paid unused PTO. If I am laid off next week, I get nothing but unemployment. Your best assumption ever is that everyone is a cut throat biatch and you better plan for people(the people running companies being complete scumbags).
I have been naive and seen rainbows& butterflies and have gotten burned too many times before to think any other way.

That is a really good idea actually. The $17/hr would be less than the reg unemployment+extra $600 a week though, but they must be hiring in all their positions and I'm gonna check out their Dallas jobs.

Shopping malls or anything bricknmortor are going to completely die out and they are only going to become even larger in the coming years.

I don’t think it’s nearly as “for sure” as you have deduced but it’s never a bad idea to look for work

I'm not sure if my gut is right or not or what's up or down anymore....my reads feel all off because this time I really want this job because I like it.

Like right now I don't know if you are just trying to be encouraging or if you are just a sweet summer child.

I'm not sure if I should chalk this stuff up to my boss being a dummy or not either.
I mean it's entirely possible that he is so dumb and oblivious that he really does just want to have an in person face to face meeting that doesn't concern a layoff even after I told him child care might be problematic during this pandemic. It's like playing against a complete fish, they don't know what the **** they are doing....you don't know what the **** they are doing.

We will need to have face to face meetings next week, so consider this fair warning that I am giving you a heads up that I will be firing you during said meeting.

C'mon MLY...but please go eat some more pizzas and mac & ****ing cheese though.

Thinking a male boss is going to have your daycare situation real high on his priority list seems dubious to me.

More specifically, it's probably not even something crossing his mind.

You're the one talking about how everyone in Texas dgaf.

Do you and your boss have regular touch-points?

What is the title of the meeting?

Obviously I don't know the specifics of your job but this doesn't sound good from your descriptions so far.

Good luck. This O&G industry downturn has been brutal so far.

We don't have regular meetings.
It's titled:"Follow Up"

He tried to set up regular weekly meetings with one of my coworkers and myself (same age/same yrs experience) and it was...... ****ing weird, like he was trying to get the guy to be domineering to me or something and calling it "coaching". No joke, a few months back the guy and I crossed paths on the way to bosses office, stopped and looked at each other from 15' apart a cross the office and just turned back around and went back to our offices....we just stopped going to his "meetings" without saying anything to our boss or each other.
