Yes Loco, consistently posting and being accountable is the key.

The past week was a tough one. Just started my period so was having some PMS+starting new meds+low energy+it was a tough week at work with my projects and all that translated to a tough week with my daughter because she wasn't getting enough attention from me.
It was moodiness and exhaustion compounded.

I've got a long week at work ahead, but its spring break. My hija+ her dad and code3 have lots of adventures planned with her and I will have the week to myself. Hopefully I will get stuff done instead of lay around and stare at the walls being lonely.

Wanted to lift weights but I hurt my shoulder last night fixing the toilet. Dang LEFT HANDED threads! Left handed!

Alright, I'm gonna get Mon and Tues logs posted tomorrow. Work has been a beating with all my projects coming to a head all at once, it's spring break, I'm picking my daughter up/packing her/planning/shuffling her around, still trying to get all her other activities organized. Right now I'm just trying to remember to stay sane, at least comb my hair and not forget to put deoterant on in the mornings.

I'd rather see your calories in for the week rather than the steps you took for the week, just cuz its more important. It's your log though, not my log, I'm an idiot. Anyways nice to see some weightloss, GL with your mental health coming up this week.

Thanks

Today was a mix of wanting to cry, puke, and stab a programmer in the eye with a pencil....I got deoterant on though so I guess you could say it's going well.

I woke up crying from a dream that I was in a meeting with all the shop managers and they were announcing the layoffs of the shops.

The recession is coming and fast. It's going to hit the Oil&Gas community first and within the next two months. I went through the 2015-2016 downturn and contracts were cancelled back to back for three months straight the summer of 2016 and there was absolutely no work left.
I will most likely lose my job as I don't have any tenure at my new company and so will 60-70% of anyone in the field. It's been on my mind for months, buts it's all too real now.
I'm having flash backs of job searching during the last downturn.
The last time I went on 50+ interviews after applying for 500+ jobs. The market was flooded with job applicants. Having worked in O&G was like having the plague, it was like hiring managers were specifically told not to hire anyone from O&G and the question came up "Will you go back to O&G when the market picks back up?" in every single interview.
It's about to be really really hard times and a complete lifestyle change. I think my only option may be to get my alternate teachers certificate and secure a high school math/physics teaching position for the next school year(not sure the feasibility of this) and then apply for engineering jobs in 2022.

When asked, what did you say to the question "Will you go back to O&G when the market picks back up?"

I didn't know what I would do and I was just honest and said I wanted to be excited about what I'm doing whatever the industry. O&G obviously pays more than any other industry, but I honestly never knew this until after I got out of school. I had 3 almost equivalent offers in 3 different industries and happened to end up in O&G right out of school being pretty clueless to economics.
Money had never been my main motivation; I just loved engineering, learning and getting excited about things.

Was this you dodging the question because the answer was yes and you didn't want to either lie or say yes? Because that's how it reads as likely coming across.

I dunno, I just needed a job and I'm generally as transparent and honest as possible. I ended up just walking into businesses with my resume and asking if they had openings+asking to speak with engineering managers, that eventually worked. I even walked into one business and told them I could program their robotic welders and plasma tables and could show them right then. It was rough.

I love the work I'm doing now and genuinely do get excited about certain things and I just hope that being honest about that will work out.
But, thanks for that feedback...I'll remember to not answer that way this go-round.

If the answer wasn't yes, then you're being completely honest to say that you currently have no plans to return to O&G and are looking forward to the next opportunity, which you hope will turn out to be a place you can settle in for a long time.

I don't advocate lying to an interviewer, and I applaud not doing so; it's just worth noting that a dodge with no real answer still gets processed by the interviewer as an answer, and never in a way that will be good for you.

I was offered to work from home this week as school is cancelled. I don't see how this is possible as I have three different builds happening in three different shops in two different towns and need to physically check and sign drawings, but I happily accepted as we have a ****** hacking all over the office. I will most likely have to make a trip to each shop once a day and to the office once a day to deliver signed drawings/print drawings, but at least my exposure to that idiot will be limited.

The only issue is that they only offered working from home to me because I am the only person in the office without a stay at home wife to take care of the kids while school is out and I could already feel the resentment when I was leaving.

Anyway, I'm thinking I can do some fun dance videos with my daughter and maybe go for some walks with her if the rain holds off. It might be really nice to get to spend some time with her and get some exercise in with all this madness.

I am down to one roll of toilet paper and will be rigging something up to the toilet soon and I'll have to get creative with cooking what I have in the house as the stores have been raided by morons.

Yes you are so much smarter than everyone by not preparing for this exact scenario
H&F Advice Applepied Quote

No, I did not prepare for the stores to be raided by idiots. No businesses here are closed. Nothing is closed but the schools. Just drove through town and every single restaurant parking lot is full, every business is in full operation like nothing is happening. The only thing people are doing is raiding the stores and those are the stay at home moms who are doing it while everyone else is at work.

This seems smart. Do you think there's a nursing home or anything you can fit into your schedule?

Everyone there has already been infected by now. Me running drawings back and forth ain't gonna hurt. I got with all the shop foreman today and told them phone calls only which was a big pain in the ass this morning trying to decipher their questions over the phone.
And, I've got some sweet sweet monitors only a select few that do design work have that I need to check on every day, and probably need to rig up a shocking mechanism on tomorrow. They have now extended the work from home to several people and even the IT guys monitor and keyboard got jacked right out of his office today.

Calm down Loco. We are all adjusting to this global pandemic. Daily cal log coming soon.

I'm not feeling very well tonight. We have just had our pollening so it could be allergies...I dunno.

I guess I will log here in case it is the corona because it's not like I can actually go to the doctor and get a test around here unless I'm dying.

Mon: slight sore throat
Tues: slight sore throat, stiff neck, some caughing
Wed: sore throat getting worse, neck really really stiff/sore at the base of skull, feels like I've been punched in the back of the head if I lay down and then sit up, mild coughing-coughing not that bad, feeling really weak, no fever.
