Yay, thanks 27!

Cit,
They scheduled with me late Friday and said they needed to get the interview done Mon or Tuesday before the Plant Manager goes on vacation. They ghosted me for weeks while interviewing other canidates and then wanted me to instantly be available for multiple interviews. My impression of them is meh so I'm not too concerned about rescheduling tomorrow afternoon if I'm not feeling better.

I'm thinking the infection is in my lungs and my lungs hurting is exacerbated from not smoking/lungs cleaning out. I've been coughing up a lot of tar as well.

MLY,

I don't think 'ghosting' is really what is happening so much as *regular interview processes* so I would suggest you don't really read much into that as far as reality goes.

Nah, I was strung along and ghosted

Something for sure doesn't feel right.
I read a lot of reviews about the company and asked the last guy I interviewed with a question on how certain groups worked together and some other stuff. His knee jerk response was, "who told you that!?!"

They for sure have issues there and I don't want to willing put myself in a toxic place. Based on his responses to my questions and what he was asking, it seems they are wanting the person filling the position to come in and fix the culture/toxicity, all the operations problems, and be a technical expert and troubleshoot any issues. I think they are wanting/expecting too much from one position.

I'll be interviewing with 4 different people tomorrow so I'll have a lot more information then.

I have to remember to trust my gut this go round. I'm not desperate for a job and I will have more prospects once I get my PE; I do not have to get into a bad situation.

Welp, I didn't get that job. I really liked the people I interviewed with and thought I did meh. The Plant Manager was nothing like he was described to be and was really sweet. He cut the interview short, didn't introduce me to anyone, and no plant tour. The last thing he said was in regards to them being very selective because its a small team and the personality has to fit. We were all wearing mask, but I saw it in his eyes that it was no for me. I'm kinda disappointed. Being there and asking questions to people that work directly in the plant I didn't pick up on any red flags and it actually felt like it would be a job I would like.

I did start coughing in the end. I'm not sick at all anymore and am just coughing up freaking tar from smoking.

Something amazing about going to an interview and not smoking is not having to worry about if you stink or your hair getting ratty from the car window or wondering when it will be over so you can go smoke again. It's great not feeling like a slave to smoking and not having it constantly on your mind.

Yesterday was one meal of Mcdonald's and today was Chick-fil-A and Wendy's.

My ankle isn't quite ready for a long walk, but I'm going to try swimming tomorrow.
I swam a couple of days ago, my ankle didn't hurt while swimming but was really agitated afterwards.

MLY,

Not worrying about stinking/etc is a good thing about smoking *all the time*, not just when you've got a job interview. Exciting stuff.

Weird mismatch of communication in the various steps of that interview process. Oh well, on to the next one. Ask for feedback if possible.

Why so much fast food?

Driving to Dallas and back home, being in bed most of the day Mon, no food at all in the apartment and everything was frozen at my house.

Code3 did drive right past Dairy Palace without letting me get ice cream on the way home. We drove 30mins into the woods looking for a taco stand that ended up being closed and just stopped at Wendy's because it was too late to go to the grocery store by then.

It's understandable.

No one could have foreseen this. There was no way to be prepared.

Cmon MLY, all those excuses are BS. Every one.

Just say you went on a self-loathing FF journey or something.

I wasn't hungry most of the day yesterday so I'm going with the same meal today.

Spinach, sweet potato, tomato, eggs, salsa

Mmm, I'm gonna have to make some more spinach tonight....it taste so good. My sense of taste and smell are increasing without smoking and it's awesome.

New poster?

I know I haven't posted in her thread prior, but I've had a log in H&F for over nine years and I do read them all.

Yep. Lack of preparation is the main thing going on throughout the thread.

MLY -- maybe plan ahead, putting your day into your log before the day starts and editing as needed? You'd probably see more egg whites and grilled pork chops and fewer baconators.

It looks like you have good food when you make up your mind to have some. So, you can get there. Congrats on quitting smoking.

I didn't know Wendy's had Chili. I had to read your sentence three times to make sure I was reading right lol.

I have another interview with a local Engineering firm next week. It's for a PM position and my PE will be necessary, so right in line with what I want but I will have a learning curve with the subject matter.

I think I am realizing more and more that I just want to keep my house and find a job locally. I may stop applying for jobs in Dallas and accept that I might have to take a warehouse job or something similar in a few months. I'm really fine doing whatever, but it is so nice having a house right now and not having to deal with traffic or having to move again so soon.
