For the first time lifting, I got a really bad cramp during warmups for deadlift. I almost pussed out, but figured there was only one working set. I made it through the set, but could not strip the weights afterwards. The pain was real. The set itself went well though.
I think I have realized a lot of squat problems were from not focusing on thoracic extension. It really screwed me up coming out of the hole by pitching me forward.
The right side of my lower back felt fried after deadlifts. Not sure if my SI problem is coming back or it is lower back DOMS.
Lack of sleep made for a sluggish workout. Almost fell on my face in the first squat set. Going for a squat PR on Monday. The only other time I got to 255x5x3, I hit 14 reps. Go go go!
Failed on the fourth rep of the first squat set. Had some elbow pain after that set. I bailed on the second rep of the last set because my elbow could not take it anymore. I tried to bench but my elbow couldn’t handle the weight at my top set.
My right hip and right elbow felt terrible so skipped Monday’s workout. To avoid the hip pain, I had to straighten my toes. I should have hit five reps, but my grip was failing me.

I purchased knee sleeves at the end of last week. I tried them on for squats today. My hip and knee pain disappeared. It is was nice squatting a plate and it not feeling ridiculously difficult.
One day I will get my press back to 135x5x3 and deadlift back to 315x5.
Thanks Monte. Good to see you putting in the right mind of deadlifting effort. After all, what’s the point in DLijg at an RPE > 6.

Squat: 165x5x3
Press: 122.5 x 4,2,3
Deadlift: 315x2
Squat is sill easy. Unfortunately I have some pain in the inner part of my right quad. I think it is from trying to improve my internal rotation.
I have been trying press 2.0 the past month or so. Not going to great. My lumbar spine does not like it. This is in turn makes me a wuss for deadlifts. Pretty sure I could have pulled three or four reps today. When the weight gets heavy like today, I get all nervous that I will throw out my back/SI joint.
I finally went to a doctor to get my hip/quad checked out. He did an X-ray, which showed no structural damage. Unfortunately, he said I have trochanteric bursitis of the hip. It hasn’t been flaring up when squatting recently. I will be going to a sports medicine specialist a week from Monday to see what I can do.
Top sets of deadlifts were tough. Had to workout early Wednesday to go to Portland for a couple of days for work. First time I have been there. Pretty cool place.
Friday was easy. I think I may have finally figured out how to use the bulldog grip.
Today I got back results from an X-ray on my right hip that was taken Monday. The doctor says I have FAI (CAM type). Not sure what that means yet. He said we need to talk about a course of action. I’m guessing stuff to strengthen my glute medius. It has not been hurting recently when squatting, but that may be because the weights have been light.
Re: your hip issue, I think famed former H&F lifter and current whipped runner saw had a similar issue, so he might be a good resource to discuss this with.
I was googling about this today, found this article on JTS. I'm going to start trying to work through this as I suspect I developed something around the end of my last comp and haven't resolved it through no activity.
