I always have my phone in the gym. I have 2 apps for programming and tracking purposes (5/3/1 and Sheiko) although I only use one of those right now. I have another app to verify loading the bar correctly (BarzLoaded) which is usually just used for the kg to lb conversions now. I also have an app on there that lets me video my lifts (Camera). I usually only "play" with the phone to review my technique between lifts and to verify what my weights and reps are for the next set. Otherwise I'm not on my phone playing games, calling, or texting while in the gym. I don't really care what other people are doing in the gym WRT phone, as long as they aren't spotting me at the time of use.

I feel bad for starting this ******ation, I don't think anyone else needs to defend normal phone use.

Today I walk up to squat rack and put stuff down next to it, some girl walks straight in and starts adjusting the bar position, which wasn't a big deal - she might have had her stuff in the vicinity too. I go do something else while I'm waiting, look over after a few minutes and she's hanging upside down on the bar by her knees. I think she did end up doing some squats too but I thought I was being seriously trolled for a moment.

Good for the back. Some of the guys in my gym have boots they use to hang from a pull up bar.

That's for sure not what she was doing, even if it was there are better places to do that in almost all gyms - this particular one had an inversion table too.

sadly I watched a trainer at my gym tonight, who I thought was one of the good guys (!), apparently bow to a clients demands or something.

Client barely half squatting 275 twice (3 times?) with a St Louis arching back...then taking a huge break and clearly having some kind of issue, in an ATG squat with his upper back rounded and just kind of sitting there.

Some mumbling and he puts up 3 wheels. I mumble under my breath there is no way he's doing that and is going to fail it.

Sure as **** the guy descends and I can tell within a split second he's failing because of how fast he descended. He had a momentary pause at parallel but then gave up. If he couldn't manage half squats, slow, at 275, that speed of dropping with 315 on his back was an obvious sign of immediate fail.

I just gotta start carrying my camera with me everywhere. I'm pretty sure I had a viral video going today. My description won't do it justice at all.

Extremely overweight dude on the seated calf raise machine, jamming to a tune on his headphones while bouncing 45 lbs. up and down to the music - maybe an inch. This went on for about 5 minutes. Then he stood up and started dancing. The he grabbed a 2 1/2 lb. weight, added it to the 45, sat back down and did the "calf raise" thing another 5 minutes or so.

Asian dude with fake tats on his arms and one of those extra heavy duty strongman belts was doing rack pulls from above the knee @ 365 with loud grunts, dramatic hyperextension, and intentional bar slams against the safeties after sets. Strapped up ldo. And vibram 5 fingers. And beats by dr. dre headphones.

Lots of douchebaggery in one individual.

There was a guy teaching his girlfriend how to do quarter squats in the smith machine a few nights ago. He caught me looking over at them and probably thought I was checking her out, which I was, but I was more just watching in disgust. Doing dumb things on your own is one thing, but spreading the teachings of Satan is another.
