Honestly I think that heavy squatting is the thing non ELs are least impressed by. They could see 4 plates hb atg and not bat an eye, but when the badass loads up 3 plates on the bench its a huge deal. DLs more impressive too maybe.

wtf is this? i took a short video cause i couldn't i lol'd inside during his 1st set of it but dunno if it's GGO or i'm just out of the loop here? he had maybe 75 # up, it cant have been too taxing

IME it's pretty easy to shift the exercise from a core anti-rotation to being a lat/shoulder exercise (the dude in Banned4lyfe's vid is not doing landmines).
yeah, I was going to say that^. That video is perfect. Most people will **** up landmines bad and twist their backs. Pavel is a stud.

INORITE?

But seriously, it's the principle. Leaving the weights is one of things that shouldn't be encouraged or forgiven (forgiven only if the person is a newbie, but they should be taught).

Joined a new gym the other day, loads of great equipment, nice place etc. Was walking by the TRX w/e it is area and the PT showing some guy around referred to it as the "cable jungle". Right.

Nobody outside of serious lifters gives a **** about squatting.

Honestly I don't have a problem with people getting too close to me on any exercise. As long as they know that if they die, it's their fault and I'm not going to care.

Squatting and doing standing stuff I'm not worried, as I can keep an eye on them(mirror 4life). Some spaced out **** bumping into the bar while I'm benching, is what is worrisome.

Agreed. The bench racks at my gym are fairly close together. Even though I'm careful, if someone is doing a set and I need to walk between the benches I will wait until they're done.

this morning a guy was doing a kipping horizontal cable row where at the end he did a tricep push down.. as if he was doing some kind of horizontal kipping muscle up?!? he was super setting these with 1/8 range of motion pushups. guy looked like a dolphin with parkinsons

Something like that and a bunch of actual cable machines next to it = 'cable jungle'. Don't use any of it cos I don't have a bro enough core to throw myself around on ropes

Girl was doing a 'plank' which was closer to a yoga push up position than actual plank. The GGO? She is paying a personal trainer - who says absolutely nothing - to watch her do this...

Not quite as high as this but you get the idea...

looks like a ****ty downward-facing dog except you're supposed to get a calf and hamstring stretch, which you don't get on your tippy toes and elbows

trainer was having a total noob do leg presses in the smith machine today. I mean I know that's the old school way of doing it but there must be better ways of getting a leg workout

LOL

TRX rows, curls and tricep work like (skull crusherish) using bodyweight at various angles are actually great assisgtance/accessory lifts. Every once in awhile I like to throw in BW curls at ~45 degrees then flip around and do the skull crusher type tricep work. Great way to pump both bi's and tri's in short order without having to move much otherwise.

Yeah I wouldn't exactly call it a jungle! Not disagreeing though, I've seen some guys doing decent looking bodyweight exercises on them but I just don't have the upper body strength for it atm.

Tried doing some dips on rings, failed after a couple haha

this chick today had a pretty decent body, meh face. volleyball pants on though with ass virtually hanging out.

she started with squats (smith machine tho), then dead lifted (ish).

so im benching while she is doing this. she looks over a few times we make eye contact and i kinda nodded in approval of her deadlift (lol).

anyway after my set i go to stretch my hammy's on a mat. this ms paint can help explain the situation:

Spoiler:

so basically there is a guy on a mat doing abs. I put my mat parallel to him. I am the red dude. I give proper space. the area where everyone puts mats is narrow but very wide. My mat and the other guys mat are up against two machines.

this girl comes over and puts her mat at the foot of mine. there is probably 2 feet of space between the edges of our mats. i kinda think thats weird but whatever.

the she proceeds to do some foam roller stuff while facing me. then about 15 different yoga and stretching moves while facing me. including multiple variations of what i can only describe as her straddling [nothing] on her knees and rocking back and forth. she does this while facing me and then again turned to the side.

i have no idea if she wanted me to talk to her or if she was just oblivious, or just wanted attention. all i know is that i got a really good long stretch in although it was a little awkward. she had about 30 sq feet of open space where she could have placed her mat.

Learn how to make use of that stuff and your core will get stronger.

There's one room at globogym free of techno-music thump. But when it's not in zumba mode, some people have to bring their own music. But not with earphones, they play it on some iphone speaker so no one can stretch without hearing crap hop.
