Just bought new DL/Squat shoes. Barely any sole. Love 'em.

And only 11euro.

Yeah, that's definitely an 11/10 on the Euro scale for shoes

Bought them in a big sports store called Decathlon. They're some new concept called "NewFeel", you're supposed to buy their inlay-soles seperatly but I'm just gonna use thin leather ones.

Two guys today doing a variety of explosive or clean-type lifts with the most horrendous form. One guy was reasonably strong but his buddy, who wasn't strong, was trying to match him on the weight cos obv you can't lose face at the gym. The worst one was "power cleans" with absolutely no effort to keep a straight back and without letting the weight touch the floor at the bottom so they were just kinda using their lower back to bounce it back up.

^^^ Just realised I caught some of this on video while filming a form vid. Not the best shot, it looked waaay worse from the side, but you get the idea.

Was driving home from work and saw a mid-50s+ man walking with his wife along the sidewalk. Dude was wearing a weighted vest and had 10lb (I think) dumbbells in his hand and was just cranking out the 1/2 ROM reps with each step.

Guy doing smith machine RDLs while standing on a box, since the minimum bar height is higher than a normal bar sitting on the ground.

I remember when I was young and thought that jogging a few miles with 10lb dumbbells, plus doing a bunch of sit-ups every day, was like the pinnacle of fitness. I mean, you're working arms, legs, abs, that's everything, right?

Not really a fun GGO, but bros that come into the gym and get straight into their work-sets with zero warm-up always make me facepalm. Got one this morning and I'm sure the thinking behind it is just that they can't be seen to lift anything but their max.

I intended to do Frontsquats in a corner of the gym when a guy placed a movable bench in the only free corner that i can use to do squats, cause we dont have a rack.

(freely translated)

Me: "Oh,..eh,.. What do you plan/intend to do there?... I just...
(he interrupts me after i left him 2 sec to answer before i started again, while just wanted to say i wanna do squats there and have no other space)

Him: "Work-out???"
..in a provoking, offensive manner.

Me:" I want to do squats there,... WHICH exercise did you want to do?"

He stares at me and looks to the other bench in front of him.

Me:" Could you maybe use that one?"

Then, without a word, he immidieatly starts to do seated Dumbell curls as his first exercise of the day on the other bench and i started my warm-up in the corner.
Using only the bar for squats made him smile initially, but when i moved more than his bodyweight on my shoulders to squat for reps, i liked his face a lot more.

Im sure i would kill people, if i ever started to take roids.

communication in the gym should not have any questions, just bids and orders. next time i will just say "i squat there, you curl elsewhere" instead of asking what they plan to do in the only free space for serious lifts, each time with a tiny bit of (later crushed) hope to see someone else do squats or deadlift there, too.

MY FAULT.

Really bad form. Good celebration form, though.

It really isn't a GGO but I didn't really feel like starting another thread just for that.

Exactly what I was thinking. Hope steroids, bullying, and date rapes are not in his future.

Touche.

No, I said that because all the PL meets I have ever attended there tends to be a very high comradery, even amonst those that do not know eachother. Everyone is pushing everyone for PR's.

That and for the most part, the bullying and general douchbaggery type isnt present in either BB or PL that I have seen. Most tend to be very polite and supportive, not your usual jersey shore gym rat.

I actually like that they are supporting his accomplishments, rather than steering him towards the negative things in life.

/carry on
