I'm not jealous or judgmental. I just think time and energy spent doing curls could be better spent doing other exercises. People have different goals in the gym and they can do whatever the **** they want. The reason I don't do arm iso exercises is because there is no weak point in my arms for the main lifts. If I learn that my triceps start to suck in the presses and that's the reason I'm stalling, then you'll find me doing skullcrushers, close grip BP etc.

EDIT: Not close grip BP, but some kind of tri extension.

Seems to me this "argument" is actually a few relatively qualified statements that can co-exist:

a) People who go into the gym, super-set 5 sets of different curls, in the squat or power rack, and then stare at themselves the whole time, suck.

b) Curls may not make as big of a difference as many hope or think

c) Adding curls to a program is fine and helps develop one's biceps

I mean, no one really seems to be saying "doing curls is 100% dumb and stupid and never do it" and no one is saying "if you aren't doing curls you are a skinny weak-ass who will never get laid." But, the amount of argumentation sure makes it seem like that at times.

Thats the problem with the Internet. There is no emotion in written word and what one writes may not seem to have a particular tone, because you're reading it in your head, when someone else reads it they infer something that was never intended or read a tone that is simply not there because of their own bias's.

Do it enough on a particular site and you get a rep that is near impossible to shed.

Not a GO but at lunch in the cafeteria today a guy gets out his home made salad and when asked about it starts going on and on about healthy diet. Like how everyone thinks it's healthy to eat meat for protein but in reality that's bad blabla, I kinda stopped listening when he said he ate broccoli and porridge for breakfast today.

Yeah, I can tell G4S is already getting a bro and out of shape stigma attached to him. Kind of sad really, it seems like he was headed down the right path for a while there.

I actually think the biggest problem with emotions on the internet is most people don't really write/act like they do irl. They talk all sorts of **** and start arguments that just make no sense for no apparent reason. When irl there would be social pressure not to be an idiot and it would take more energy to have the completely ridiculous argument.

I also realize that 2p2 is likely a site that has better argumentation, analysis, and evaluation than most - and it still seems weird to me sometimes.

People gonna people I guess.

2 hours ago i went to my gym. its free for all employees of my company.
i usually avoid going there directly after work, with the intention to avoid the biggest ******s.
anyway, sometimes i enter early and what i saw today was about the most weird shyt i ever saw in a gym.
there is just a small place with one bench for benchpress and 2 movable benches of which one belongs to something like a smith-machine.
one the benchpress bench i see bro no1 sitting for no reason, right next to his towel, keys, i-phone and juice (straight).
on the first movable bench is an EZ-bar three 5kg plates on each site, and bro no2 just lifts it up with a grunge and starts curling, while bro no3 stands around looking cool and shyt.
second movable bench is occupied by some standard guy (for this gym) who does flys with 7kg dumbells.

first of all i have to say i know them all quite well, see them at least twice a week out of the gym.
i stood there watching the bros for solid minute before i was able to say a word.
i said : "is that too heavy for you guys to lift it from the floor?"
bro no1:" yeah"
me: "well, i need the bench to do some actual exercise on it"
bro no2:" what you wanna do?"

(for a moment i considered to say kick your arse if you dont gtfo NOW, but im polite)

me: "incline dumbell, if its okay for you"
bro2: "cool, we just gonna put it on the benchpress bench"
bro1 now pulls a face and takes all his stuff of there while looking for some other place to bother people with it.

they talk lots of gibberish and nearly run into me while i press 35kg dumbells and i have to politely mention that they may be carefull with walking around.
answer is "cool".
now im pissed and ask bro no1 if he is also training elsewhere.
bro1:" no, i just train here, why?"
me:"cause i only see you train your arms each and every day"
bro1:"yeah, i do push-ups and chins at home, but i dont have all the equipment at home that i need to train my arms"
me (slightly ironic): "cooool"

lil later, me:" you guys know that they just repaired all the bench-covers 2 weeks ago?"
silence.
i could have said it in the first place, but i know that the bros know it and dont care at all.

and last but not leaset, while i was in a set one of them did sheepishly put the EZ-bar on the ground and bro no1 asks why.
i simply jumped in unasked and said:" epiphany?"
nobody said a word and 5-10 min later the 3 left all together.

bearz and Dwarrior,
thats standard, cause the bros are idiots.
and i seem too arrogant in general.
but level only looks like arrogance from the downside

edit:
you dont have to push a like button,
this is not the tool-box full of idiots.
facebook is down the street, down the street

Doesn't sound like a good social scene at all in that gym.

thats right.
i leave the company in 2 weeks, at the end of the year and am really looking forward to find a new gym with more space and benches and a squat-rack.
i cant tell how much i hate my job here, i was a completely different person before i started here and i will feel major positive changes when im out of there again, thats guaranteed.

I can actually sympathize with this. I often feel like the longer I stay at my crappy job, the bigger a douchebag I become. Or maybe it's just age.

2+2 newb fail. Form looks pretty decent though, I'd try to make sure your back is a bit more extended, but that's mostly a nitpick. You posted in the wrong thread btw.
