I'm positive the people on the other floors of the building could hear it, since I could hear it clearly from the other end as if it was right next me once I went there.
That answers the question of WHY he was grunting like that.

As far as the glove discussion goes it helps with calluses

Doesnt matter to me and i dont wear gloves, but my father who also lifts is a physician and if he gets calluses on his fingers, he has a hard time stitching up patients because he cant feel the needle or something.

grunters on the first rep should be banned

people who drop the weights, if you can't put it down then dont pick it up

people who never leave anything back, you can lift a weight for 10 reps but are to lazy to leave it back?

You lack WIM if you think this is true. You've never pushed yourself.

Saw 3 guys at the seated, assisted horizontal bench machine. Loaded up 35kg each side and 1 guy spotted each arm as the guy pushed out 6 reps, exhaling really loudly at the top of each one and they all slapped his back when he got up. Then they were looking at me in the mirrors like wtf is he doing when I was DL'ing 150kg. Sigh.

I think the sweatpants theory is correct. Some guys at my gym have sweatpants on upper body days and shorts on lower body days. Very rarely someone squats/DLs in sweatpants at my gym

My gym is too cold when it's around -5 C or lower outside to use shorts.

cool story

I very, very rarely see anyone wearing sweat pants in the gym... Stop living in the north pole and stuff.

i go to a decent but cheap gym that is well maintained and the clientele is a lot of ghetto people of all ages. there are some high school kids and bros too.

most of the people here bench and deadlift very heavy. i wonder if it is because they all used to be on good football/sports teams that actually had coaches teach them which exercises were important and lolcurlz.

poor communities ftw !

I wear sweat pants year round. I don't find them hot at all

I wear sweat pants to work out, but I work out at home. Keeps my legs warm, and protects my shins from the knurling.

Only people that wear sweatpants and/or track pants to my gym are the upper-body bros. Sometimes I see them do some leg oriented work, but it's always box jumps and quarter squats, don't want to get too bulky ldo.

I'm in the sweat pants on bro day, shorts the rest of the time, camp.

How on earth people can DL in sweats is beyond me.

The idea of actually sweating on/in sweat pants just grosses me out... idk

can't wear sweat pants at the gym because I can't check out my calves in the mirror every chance I get

Haha...I'm coincidentally wearing sweats today for squats/dl even though I usually wear shorts. Trick is to have a really baggy pair obv so they aren't restrictive.

I also get enjoyment out of surprising people. Not that I'm strong in the first place, but I look even weaker in baggy stuff

Back in the day I pulled in sweats just about always. I'd pack sweats to put on over my shorts. Now I prefer pulling in shorts. We'll see how I feel once it gets cold out.
