They act as a great signifier that you're someone I don't want to talk to imo.

Yeah, I need to do more flexibility work but am not committed enough to it to join the actual yoga dojo (despite three of the hottest girls in the office going there regularly).

Was walking to grab lunch today and someone on the street walked up to me and asked

"Hey, you want to bro out for a bit? Talk about saving someone's life, you know, guy stuff."

I just looked at him weird and kept walking.
Bro, you clearly just missed hanging out with Barney Stinson.

This talk of gloves...I was tempted to get the woolies out this week. Lifting outside in England is getting to be a nuisance, the bar is ****ing freezing /gay. Instead I joined a gym, apparently England's strongest man trains there. Some cool stuff in there, atlas stones, farmers walk equipment, a massive tyre, fat bars, a yoke (I think it's called?).

Still not safe from the bros tho. Was doing front squats and some guy asked if I was a weight lifter because I was using a clean grip. Engaged in convo and he seemed somewhat sensible, then out of nowhere he unleashed a tirade of broisms on me. Basically ended with him telling me I should put twice my bodyweight on the leg press and do 40 rep sets. I just said "Sounds like too much hard work for me, think I'll pass!". He just shook his head, sat down on the leg extension machine and started tapping his head.

Gotta train smart bro.

My first contribution to GGO:

Recently joined Goodlife, which is a chain of gyms across Canada. Usually a huge ripoff and overcrowded, but I managed to get a corporate discount, and since I travel with my job alot it helps since there are locations everywhere.

Anyways, working out yesterday there was a bombshell blonde in yoga pants (no pics, unfortunately) being led around by a typical clueless personal trainer. This led to the head roid bro in my area to start making fun of her for not knowing what she's doing, I guess trying to wheel on her or something.

She responded with 'I have never even been in a gym before and my calves are probably more defined than yours'. Head bro is obv wearing full length track pants and has chicken legs, which he sheepishly pulls up and tries to flex. Side by side they were actually quite comparable definition-wise. She laughs and says 'Might want to make today a leg day buddy'.

Head bro goes back to his pack and says 'chicks don't know **** about working out', as they all share a laugh and continue their barbell bicep curls in the rack next to mine.

Sidenote: As I was leaving about an hour later, same guy was still there, sans bro-friends, loading up the leg press machine. I lol'ed.

My experience is that most gyms need to add at least ten 10 lb plates to their facilities

I don't know how many times I've walked around the gym in a rage trying to find those damn 10 lb plates

This happens to me all the time, but sually I end up seeing one guy with 5x10lb plates on each side of the bar/machine for no apparent reason...

lol any time any male with any sort of strength or physique is present there's always somebody scoffing going "pfft yeah but I bet his calves are like pencils"

This person is often a fat weak slob, but not always.

Some guy was running around the gym doing 1 set exercises on a bunch of different machines. Every time I got up from my bench to spot this guy on the bench next to me, he'd run over and do a set on the bench I was using. I didn't say anything, but it was kind of annoying.

The guy I was spotting told me to only help him if the bar was stuck or going down. After his set I asked if he read 2p2. He didn't know what I was talking about lol.

I think the consensus is we'd all say we didn't know what 2p2 is if asked while in the gym.

Long time lurker... read nearly the whole thread.

A few observations-

My gym is not as brolific as most others itt. Guys (and girls) actually squat in the squat rack!

Most dudes are workin' dem gunz, though. One dude who's prob 5'5" / 155 is there almost every day I'm there. He is working upper body EVERY time! His upper body is pretty big & ripped for his size, but I checked out his legs last time (influenced, no doubt, by tt) and was amazed. It was like he had two broomsticks for legs in his sweatpants!

Last week I noticed that he was walking over to one of the squat racks. No way, is he gonna squat?!?? -sigh- Curlzzzzz for da gunz.

My gym has two power cages and two squat racks lined up against a mirrored wall. Usually, I'm the only one doing anything in this area (not many bro curlers, either).

On Friday, I was DLing, a hot chick was doing RDLs, and two old dudes were squatting! All lined up. It was beautiful.

Today, I was squatting (atg, obv). Working with 185. I'm a noob, so this is pretty heavy for me. I bust out six reps. Feeling good.

In come some broteens. Maybe 19 years old, skinny, and ~ 6" tall. I guess they were mirrin my squats. I'm 5'9" / 193 lbs.

So the taller one slaps 45s on the bar in the power cage next to me. No warm up, of course. Taller gets under the bar and goes down literally two inches... struggling the whole time. I think he did three reps. He gets out and tells his friend to do it.

I'm wearing headphones, so the only thing I hear is the taller one say, "Two 45s!" Kid looked nervous and actually went down half as much as his broach. One rep. They struggled to put the weights back and then left.

Also, there's a hot chick who works out like a beast (my first gym crush). Always by herself. Squats, DL, bench, & a few other exercises.

I most certainly have noticed the ratio of hot girls is far higher for the free weight users over the cardio machine users.

Yesterday a couple of bros were really making a scene in the power rack. One had a hoodie and a bodybuilding.com belt. He was the loudest and most aggressive grunter I have witnessed thus far. He started out his battlecries at the incline (decline? the head was higher) leg press machine. I'm positive the people on the other floors of the building could hear it, since I could hear it clearly from the other end as if it was right next me once I went there.

To his credit, his squats were well below parallel and quite solid. His bro on the other hand.... He was just bending his knees ever so slightly. The best part: the original guy doing good squats was counting his reps really loud.

I was deadlifting yesterday. Between sets, a smallish bro walked by me like he owned the place (not pushy....in a friendly way), pointed to the power rack several stations over from where I was and asked, "you on that one, boss?" I said I was not, motioning to the the loaded bar at my feet. He replies, "cool" and walked over like he was going to really hit the weights. LOL when he proceeded to "load" the power rack bar with a five on each side and grind out set after set of half-ROM curls.
