Just got stuck under the bar benching 185 in my garage. I'm using a ****ty bench backwards and using the semi squat rack thing to hold the bar because the bench is not wide enough to hold the bar (it will tip over if one side has 185 and the other 135). I couldn't dump the weight because it is too noisy, and the bench was blocking me from rolling it off in front of me so I spent a non-trivial amount of time wondering wtf to do then lifted my legs to the inside of the bench and rolled the bar off onto the bench itself, then got up and lifted it onto the squat rack.

Cool story bro

Story might have been better if you were seriously injured. Next Time Tho!

The point of bp sans collars is so you can dump the weight, who gives a **** about the noise just get the weight off and don't get injured

My gym at school has a strict "must use collars" rule for ALL barbell lifts (though they tend to not enforce it for deadlifts). I asked them why? They said so if someone is stuck on the bench, they can't roll the weight off and possibly injure someone else. Guess they would rather have the person squirm under it until they turn blue.

LOL nice to have a rule that is so dangerous. If someone is stuck on the bench they can go die in our opinion, can't have them risking injurying someone else.

LOL wut, I'd never deadlift without collars and would only bench with them with safety bars.

The people who stand next to moving weights deserve to be euthanized by plates imo

This, but jesus christ does it drive me mad when they endanger someone else. I had a woman move very close to the side of my squat rack midset with 315 on the bar and start doing lateral raises, getting close to knocking the bar and preventing me from being able to re-racking. Fortunately my workout partner yelled at her very quickly and nothing bad happened. But it was insane, the gym was relatively quiet and she could have posed in front of the mirror anywhere else.

Saw a couple of friends today working in together doing squats. One guy was working his way up from 170 to 195 with solid form to parallel, while the other guy was going from 195 to 235. I'm thinking, "OK, cool," but then they walk over to the calf-raise machine....

I never use the calf raise machine, but I doubt there's anything wrong with it. It's not really going to interfere with recovery at all.

The way I look at it is that squats, presses, and pulls are like cake, while curls, calf raises, and stuff like that are icing and sprinkles. As long as you have the cake, you can probably put whatever icing and sprinkles on it you like, as long as you don't put too much and overpower the cake and make it collapse into a mess.

That's probably another way of restating the big rock/little rock thing, but whatever.

The problem comes in when your whole diet is frosting.

This is pretty standard. I see it a lot.

What I saw today was probably an absolute first. Guy was doing supinated, swinging lats, ASSISTED by his buddy standing behind him dragging the bar down.

It was basically two guys doing a lat pull down.

I guess either my gym has ****** plates (they are the annoying octagonal kind) or I lean to one side when I deadlift.

Yesterday at the gym I saw a pretty interesting exercise...

2 bros. One lying on his stomach on a bench. He would try to bend his leg up and down with his buddy trying to push it in the opposite direction.
