I once dropped a ten pound weight on my thumbnail. It hurt like hell and the weight pushed the thumbnail into my skin and blood literally spurted out. There was a lot of blood. I can't imagine dropping a 65 pound weight, and there's no ****ing way I'm clicking to see those photos.

There's a woman at my gym who dropped a 45lb plate on her big toe and had to have it amputated. True story.

ETA: this came up because she saw me using bumper plates and thought it was cool because if she had dropped that on her toe she might have been OK.

I was Front Squatting 230lbs once (that's quite a lot of weight), and I forgot about the 2.5 plates. I took off a 45 and dropped the 2.5 on my foot. Hurt like hell for a few minutes. I wondered what would happen if I weren't wearing shoes. True story.

Lucky your foot was there, it might have cracked the floor otherwise.

at a powerlifting meet at my gym one guy dropped a plate that bounced into the crowd and hit one of powerlifters girlfriend. I think she got a bruise on her leg and that was it.

True but uncool story bro

I did that when i was benching 185 one time. Took the 45 off and the 25 was still on there and it landed on by foot and broke it.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say the guy in the pic IS Larry David.

The Beast Skills website talks about how the only way to increase strength with body weight exercises is to modify the leverage involved to change the perceived weight as well as utilize muscles that otherwise would go unused in the "same" exercise. Thats what an inverted pull up would do.

Does look stupid though.

today i wanted to start with incline dumbell and saw that the only bench for this was blocked with a short barbell.
i asked the guy who stood in front of it if i can use the bench or if hes actually doing his exercise on it.
he repeated that he just had 2 sets left. cool.
then i see him taking the barbell of the bench and doing curls while standing.
i ask him if he may put it on another bench, and he directly said that i just came in and already stress him.
i was kinda baffled cause i know him casualy and he has never been an idiot before.
i point out how he doesnt need exactly this bench (could use any other object ffs).
he said "ah such a bs" and i gave him a focking stare and said "thats what im talking about, use the flat bench for benchpress for example!"
he moved over without a word and i said "thanks" as if he wouldnt be ******ed and provocating in that moment.

i have to add that like him in general cause hes usually cool.
dont get it how many people carry their stress over to others who didnt cause it.

People gonna ******. Also, in the interest of being charitable, sometimes ppl are just having bad days. I know personally if I have a lot of obstacles to get through at work and things are just tough, when I get to the gym, I'm for sure more likely to be less patient, thoughtful, or anything but just focused on what I'm doing.

That being said, I've never not worked someone in before - but I mean, that's not the standard at gyms, the standard is for people to wait while everyone finishes their magazine, last set of 50 reps at 10lbs, and 15 minute conversation while still at the same station.

meh if you know him casually and know he's generally cool and not a ******, id say you messed up by just not letting it go. like other guy said he probably had a bad day and a brainfart, you don't have to confront him and make it awkward forever

definantely not awkward ever.
the focking stare was more of a permanent look "to get a read" and i wasnt (looking) angry when i said that, just puzzled because of the nonsense, 2 flat benches were just a few feet away.
i just distended it a bit, i guess.

still you are right that i should just have let him finish,
especially cause its him and not some random d-bag.

my "overwhelming sense of justice" often gets me to point out stuff,
were saying nothing is better in the long run.
when there are no logic reasons for things i tend to be a tough fault-finder.

same happened to me, but with a 65lb db. even putting it down real slow with minimal contact it sliced the **** outta me finger...scary to think what could happen with a more serious accident...

this misconception has caused me to roll 45lb bumper plates onto my feet a few times and it hurts
