Sounds like a hamstring tear waiting to happen.

Pretty much the same here. I just don't see how people can roll out of bed and feel "a" ok. Shower's just so decent in the morning.

I was cracking up at least. Probably needs some sort of helicopter type music superimposed like that one other video. Not sure exactly the best sound effect but if I come up with one I may start doing it if I see them at the gym in the future imo.
Clearly avatar worthy if we can edit you out of the way. Guy in redshorts is $$$.

Quarter bouncing lunges with a neider press. Expert move.

90 as in pointing straight forward or straight out? The latter is weird, but wide stand, feet forward is common amongst powerlifters, as it engages the hips more. Doesn't make a ton of sense for raw lifting, though.

If his feet were pointing out, it sounds like he was doing plies?

This, of course, isn't actually ballerina form, though.

Didn't take place in the gym, but I saw a woman breast feeding her babby at the park while I was running (it's essentially an asphalt track). She wasn't using a cover up and there was this really creepy guy doing laps. Or at least he looked really creepy.

It looks like some sort of warm-up routine. If so, while I wouldn't personally do it, it may be something that works for him.

OTOH, if that's a work set, it needs to be put to music.

IMO almost all trainers are jerks. The music was off so I asked the trainer working the desk if we could turn it on, and he said okay. Then a few minutes later I came back and said, "would it possible to turn it to xx station?" at which point got really standoffish, wasn't sure what to say at first but eventually came back with "well you're not like the gym DJ or anything."

A beginning friend of mine went to him for programming and got one day starting with deadlifts for the following reps, 15, 15, 10, 12, 12. Today the trainer was lifting. Half squats to a bench and he had someone spotting him. The guy is moderately strong too. I mean, where does he even get his info to be doing stuff like this? Who in the world recommends super high rep deadlifts? Where can a professional trainer even learn that half squats are optimal?

Just go to a gym like mine. No centrally controlled music, just a PC, Spotify and awesome speakers.

Nice vid reminds me off this stuff http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wfucQ-EygE it's pretty hilarious. He has a whole channel.

As for your deads. There are a few things, but the biggest one is your lumbar spine is in flexion each time you pull. Ask anyone and this is a pretty big no no in most exercises. Make sure your back is set and your lumbar spine is in extension and keep it tight throughout the entire movement. I'd say focus on this first so you don't injure yourself.

I got a charlie horse on the treadmill today (Obv cause I squatted a billion earlier).

I can't imagine how funny this must have looked to everyone that wasn't writhing in pain trying not to fall over.

I have to admit I wasn't paying super close attention. But I'm 99% sure this was a "work set". I'm pretty sure the concept of work set was not part of the "routine" they were following.

While I was there, I could tell some middle aged guy with (maybe his) kid were doing some jackassery but tbh I kind of try to focus on what I'm doing as the weight area is pretty small.

But now after catching it on video I wish I watched more. My g/f said there potentially was a third guy who came over at one point to try out the exercise.

The music makes that link imo. Got me ready for some serious stuff to go down.

Yes, I agree! That is why I'm now making vids as much as possible when my g/f is there with me to help take them. I went too long without any external feedback. And I hadn't done any of these lifts ~3 months ago. SS is actually a lot "harder" than this forum makes it sound btw, I assumed it was just eat, lift, sleep, profit. But there are a bunch of important steps in there that add up to some pretty big rocks.

You can film alone. I do it a fair amount. You just need to find something to rest your phone against. It helps if you have a superior iPhone 4 because the sides are perfectly flat. Creativity, a quiet gym, and a good eye should get you some good angles, though.

Plus, the camera is steady, having some palsy nub zoomed way the **** in on your shoes when you're bench pressing isn't too helpful.

Water bottle works as an item to prop your phone against.

The gym I use is in the sports centre of the local university. They've just had a brand new £20m sports centre built and it opened this week. I was told that membership would carry across as normal so I could just go and train soon as it opened.

Went down there today for my first session and was met with "sorry but you've got to have an induction before you can train".

"So the induction I had at the old weights room is now invalid?"

"Yes"

"Even though all I want to do is some squats, deadlifts and benchpress, exercises I've been doing for years at every gym I've ever been to?"

"Well we've got some new equipment so you have to be inducted so you know how to use it all"

So we accepted defeat, knowing that this jobsworth isn't going to change her mind, but got a quick tour round the centre from one of the attendants so we could have a look around and also suss out this 'new equipment' that we're going to be inducted onto.

So.... tomorrow morning at 11am I'm going down to the sports centre to learn how to use........

Spoiler:

A PowerPlate:

Plus some other crazy looking contraption that I'm not even going to start to try to explain.

Oh yeah, and all the treadmills and other cardio equipment has internet enabled touch-screen monitors. Fat people reading magazines while doing 2pmh on the bike has been taken to a new level now that they've got Facebook.

use two towels for phone recording at the gym, bottom towel is folded in a square, top towel is the same but fold in half one more time, this is your backing towel. place phone on bottom towel with backing towel keeping it upright.

Not sure if I'm becoming an old crank or if I have a legit beef, but was very annoyed today when I was in the middle of my cardio workout when one of the chicks that worked there came in, sat on the lap of who I assume is her boyfriend, and made out with him for a good 5 minutes in full view while he was sitting in one of the massage chairs. Now I know, "lol just get up and go to a different machine", but come on, the chick is at least in her early 30's and the guy probably his 40's, and she works there, so I think it's kinda gross and feel it's worth complaining to the manager about. If it was just two idiots with PDA issues that work out there, then it's whatever, but considering it's someone I have to see a lot of the time I go there, I feel like it should be called out on.
