I made an MS paint.

Basically she crouching down was attempting to reach into the area where the dumbells were moving back and forth mid-set in an attempt to snatch an empty barbell.

i don't get why people care so much about the bench press technique that other people use (half reps, assisted reps etc). i mean i get that you don't want a spotter to force his way upon you, but when he's the one who is benching...

only really makes sense to lol at people who claim to bench a certain weight when it was assisted or a 4" ROM. but a video of a guy who is clearly extremely strong (and also pretty damn smart judging by other videos on his channel) seems quite a stretch. it is much more likely that he posted that video to troll people than it being an attempt to prove anything to anyone.

Well if you as the spotter are doing most of the work, then there's the problem.

This.

It also matters to me if someone is hogging a bench while doing little to nothing.

I grab the balloon, flatten out my pubic hair a bit (untrimmed because I am a Man), and stretch it out over my penis. The girl turns on the lamp and gives me some sort of snide comment (about the balloon).

I then say, "If you knew anything you would understand that a balloon has an impermeable rubber membrane and a cylindrical shape, which is the halmarks of a good contraceptive device for sexual intercourse. The rubber ring at the bottom also acts to restrict blood from escaping an otherwise extremely hard erection. Now take your uninformed arrogant ass somewhere else, I'm working here and frankly don't have time for your ****."
lolol

edit: double lol that i never saw miles' original post about it. outta the loop.

been seeing a lot of guys who have absolutely terrible technique (like full body thrusts for bicep curls) yet somehow are huge and appear to be phenomenal shape.

I'd say at least half of the super huge, ripped guys you see in a gym are complete tards.

Years of work in the gym and good genetics can overcome alot of ******ation.

The stronger you get the more acceptable to do stuff like this. Most bodybuilders do 'cheat curls' as do a lot of strongmen I have seen. Check out Magnussens ridiculous curls.

To be fair to them, I think it is more "years of work" than "good genetics"... The fact that you see lots of them proves this.

Everything works.

Ra_Z,

I believe your Irish pony spent the last 24 hours at the pub drinking way too much Guinness and thus is incredibly tardy.

You superset a pushup/handstand/flip to blast your upper body after a heavy squat, legit exercise.

Two observations today:

One guy -- a good lifter who has had shoulder work done in the past and even has permanent screws in the joint -- was benching 365 lb for a few reps. A novice lifter who seemed more concerned with his iPod than lifting strolled up to the bench next to his and came within an inch of the moving bar while loading a quarter on each side of his bar. He never even noticed...he was totally oblivious to anything going on in the gym.

What was so important that it warranted jeopardizing the safety of other lifter? A single set of 90 lb X 5 (he clearly had more in the tank, too), after which he left the quarters on the bar and left the area.

Idiot #2 showed up shortly thereafter. I was deadlifting behind a Smith machine. I finished my first work set and went to get a quick drink of water (the fountain isn't far away at all). When I got back < 30 seconds later, another bad lifter who spends most of his time in the gym sitting on a bench adjusting his iPod picked up my weight belt and moved it, as if he was going to take over the space where I was training (I was not in the way of the Smith machine, nor was my belt).

I said "excuse me, I'm training here!" LOL when he said, "I didn't see anyone here." I said, "you saw weights and you saw a belt..how many more clues did you need???," followed by, "don't touch my stuff" (I wasn't feeling passive-aggressive....definitely aggressive-aggressive).

What was so important that it warranted such urgency to clear out the area so rapidly? He sat down and played with his iPod for a few minutes and chatted with his girlfriend. After five or so minutes, his girlfriend put a five on each side and got a single set of those Smith squats with the feet way out in front of the bar. Over ten minutes later, Mr. America finally did his single set of terrible Smith squats....the same as his girlfriend's -- except without the depth.

Nice post, nice to have some new observations posted here. Although for an engineer, as your name implies, I figured your math would be better! 45lb bar + 25 lb on right + 25 lb on left = 95 lb where I come from.

Not sure if it a culture thing as Americans seem more forward, but saying that seems super OTT douchy.
