Yea right, like those guys ever do anything that isn't 150kg+

they rarely do anything other than catch their breath or lift

Yea they're competing at the American Open in a few weeks. They competed in a Long Beach CA qualifier a month or two ago but I don't think there's any video out there of their lifts.

FWIW, the reason I was told that Pat (I don't know about Rob but I've been told he's only trained Oly seriously on and off so it might be that he just didn't care until recently) doesn't compete often is because there's no competition for him in the US. He wasn't a part of USAW because of the Brazilian aspect so he wasn't going to a world competition this year. Now that he has to join a country to be in the 2012 Olympics he'll start going to Worlds... he has said that he'll be in Paris next year. And the reason he's competing at the American Open is because there's some good money up for grabs if he breaks some records. As he's stated a number of times, he's in the sport because he's great at it and he can make a living.

Obv the lack of competing could be for the other reasons too but the above reasons aren't total gibberish nonsense...

Hopefully none of what I just wrote is stuff Pat/John doesn't want out there.

Anyone ever get shoulder impingement before and have any good advice for rehab? I got it after increasing overhead press work and oly lifts (noob at the latter). Thanks.

Weren't they supposed to enter into a powerlifting comp in november or something? Whatever happened with that?

Wonder what his chances of medalling are. When was the last weightlifting olympic medal?

So, my gym has a ninja guy. He seems to come in pretty regularly around 5am, when I'm frantically trying to wrap up my workout. Hops around a bunch. Jumps up on benches and stuff. I thought he was nuts until I saw him actually going through some kind of martial arts forms in the cardio studio; check that--I still think he's nuts, but at least it confirmed he actually does martial arts. Slightly built short guy, wire frame glasses, kind of old. I've waged a few brief, internal debates if he could kick my ass or not, though he seems like an extremely chipper, overly friendly guy.

Anyway, I was on the 4th rep of my second set of bench press this morning when I see a blur in my peripheral vision. For some reason, I had an "oh ****" mental reaction and almost failed the rep. Recovered, busted out 5th rep and hopped up to see my ninja friend walking back from the water fountain after he presumably sprinted the length of the gym at full speed. Wasn't even irritated. He's the ninja dude and he can't help himself. He shouted "Good morning" at me, then did some kind of handstand thing on a bench.

Ninjas gonna ninja.

Out of curiosity, how old are you and how old do you think "kind of old" is?

lol. Very true. I'm 27 and I guess he's not "kind of old" by normal standards, just by ninja ones imho. He's probably 55ish. I can't even do this guy justice, in terms of how quirky he is. I haven't really talked to him, except to exchange pleasantries.

But one morning, he jogs past me toward the front of the gym, turns and waves while walking backward. I thought maybe he was trying to get my attention or something, so I popped a headphone out and he said, "I'll be back!!!" Not sure why he informed me of this, I just nodded. He jogged straight out the door, got in his car, and drove off. Reconsidering it, it's possible he was doing an Ahnuld impression, I guess. Not sure if that makes it more, or less, odd.

Maybe he actually did come back, but you didn't see him because he's a ninja.

Dude seems like an attention whorish ninja though. His sneaking skills are excellent, he just has to brag about it.

On a side note, Iran is lol deep at +105.

They lost the Junior WR holder to a lifetime ban, and then won the +105 with his "backup".

Well that was weird...

Anyway, my latest...
