why would you ever take them off? my 24hr gym plays the most horrible music so its a matter of live/death for me...i'm pretty sure that if i take them off i will go on a tear and kill everyone in my gym because i dnnt like listening to rhianna or kenny g or whatever other crap they play...

i have also been preached to on numerous occassions when i don't have my headphones on...seriously people, what about me being at the gym at 1am blasting heavy metal into my ears makes you think i'm looking to find jesus?

Just don't speak to anyone unless they have something you need or are a hot girl. It works well for me.

I appreciate the spot, but I don't want to be your friend. Also, I know that you didn't really even touch the bar, just let your hand hover under it, we don't need to discuss your spotting prowess for the next five minutes and I don't need you to reconfirm that I got my reps.

My gym plays music constantly, but i don't even hear it anymore. Just completely block it out while getting on with my workout. Maybe you are not focused enough if you are hearing the music!

OMG you get cornered by jesus freaks in the gym? LOL that would drive me nuts. Do they wait until you're mid-rep so you can't escape?

I find the horrible music somewhat inspiring. It builds feelings of hate and rage in me that I then channel into my exercise.

during the sets i don't consciously hear the music, but i know that when i have sepultura or divine heresy streaming into my head that i can lift more than when britney is on the gym system...its so noticable for me that if i leave my headphones at home i consider turning around and going to the gym the next day...

regarding the jesus peoples...there was a regular that i used to see every night and we started talking, it eventually turned to him telling me that jesus was awesome etc, i don't talk to him anymore...another guy commented positively about my "lamb of god" band t-shirt (which is understandable), i was hoping he was a fan of the band, but turns out he was only a fan of the jesus, i should have let him listen to some of the music...

i think people have stopped approaching me (other than for very random spots) because i always have the music turned up really high and i sing along (im not sure if its aloud i don't really care, which will probably cause me to go deaf far too soon and i and usually walking around in my socks which people sometimes give me looks for and i don't put off a very approachable demeanor...i guess it reduces my chances of picking up chicks, but i workout so late that there is usually only like one girl there with her bf and a bunch of 20 something bench/curl guys...

ive also noticed that i stick my tongue out and press it against the outside of my upper lip when im starting sets, not sure if it stays that way through the whole set or not...

edit: it took me way to long to write the long ass post...i don't know how you do it blarg...<3

What if it's really soothing, like smooth operator? I had to listen to this **** yesterday during squats.

I cannot fathom going to the gym without my own music. I have been 90% of the way there and turned around when I realized I was sans ipod. And besides, its my best move to keep the cougars at bay.

Wat? If some chick with a husband and two kids wants me to plow her in the shower, I will be more than happen to get thrown out of the gym and find a new place to work out. Pluses if she practices yoga.

Hahaha.

As for headphones, I don't often seek out girls to talk to the gym, but when I do, you can bet they got headphones on.

I know it seems like this awesome thing, but some days I just want hit the weights and not the sexy mommas. The first sign of interest and they pounce - somedays it feels like a curse really. So I bring my headphones and do what I can to get my workout in before they catch a scent.

Its really tough being young, rich and good looking. A burden some must bear.

it never fails, every time I list some of my favorite bands and include Lamb of God, the response is "WATS THAT SOME KINDA CHRISTIAN ROCK?"

I get that when I tell people I'm a member of NAMBLA and they say I don't look Latino.

yea I have the remastered burn the priest album, I like the rougher vocals of their earlier stuff.

On a related note, I've been listening to the new Bloodbath while working out.

as for jesus freaks, i had one approach me at a college gym. i was doing something and he started chatting me up and it quickly turned to jesus and i quickly went back to whatever i was doing.

who are these people and why do they want to talk about this jesus fella so much?

today noticed someone doing 5x5 - was pretty cool considering I've never seen anyone do it for the almost 2 years at my gym

I feel they've gotten progressively worse too but I still enjoy them. Psychosocial pumps me up, if that wasn't on the album I'd probably feel the same. Is there a good "Music to listen to while at the gym" thread?

did a search and found a few threads, this one being the most recent.

i said the live album- btw

it's really really good imo.

the new studio album is pretty meh in spots, a lot of it is skippable- i'm a fan of live music though and slipknot hit a lot of key parts in songs really hard- it's good for going nuts to.

it's from 05, 9.0 live is the name of it.

i'll keep my eyes peeled for any band names that get thrown around in here, thanks.
