SERIOUSLY

I wish we could take all of blarg's posts and put them into a book. I wonder how many pages that would be, JESUZ.

Re: General Gym Observations

Does anybody ever put weights on the bar with the print facing out?

I have (and observed everyone else) doing this my whole life, wonder how/why it started.

Anytime Fitness FTW. Open 24 hours. Minnesota-based company, and most of the branches are brand new with brand new equipment. Do a search for one near you, as there are probably 40+ in the Twin Cities.

And GMs and rackpulls and pin lockouts and...

But the squat rack is certainly not for curling.

I over head press in the squat rack after I squat even though there is only one at my gym. I don't feel bad usually if there is someone waiting since they are usually waiting to curl in the squat rack. If it is one of the three people at my gym that squats I'll get out of the rack for presses.

One guy came up to me while I was squatting and asked me how long I had left, I told him it was awhile since I had just done my first set in a 8x3 but that he could work in if he wanted. The guy said no he would just wait. It takes me like 40 minutes to finish and he is still waiting. Once I am done he loads up the bar with 95 lbs and pulls it out of the rack and puts it on the ground to do terrible cleans with and also half front squats which he also cleans off the ground to ground to get in position. There are plenty of extra bars and floor space at my gym...

Re: General Gym Observations

I do presses in the squat rack, but I think that's pretty standard... Otherwise I'm gunna have to clean it off teh floor or something to get in a press position... I guess that could work too...

but w/e... I also don't get the guys that "use" the squat rack for deadlifts... honest to God, last night I was doing SS "B", and for the duration of my work out, there was a guy in the squat rack doing sets of 3 deadlifts. He had a back-belt on, and wasn't even going all that heavy (like 286lbs and he probably weighed 195lbs), was still rounding his back a fair bit at the pull... but w/e... So he honestly tied up the squat rack for an hour... deadlifting... like, there are spare bars, just move out of the rack and do it on the floor...

...also, guys that do that row thing from the squat rack **** me too... the one where they grab the bar with an underhand grip, lean forward at like 45 degrees and pull the bar from their knees to their midsection... like ffs... just pick the bar off the floor... it fkn rofls me so hard that they pull the safety pins out of the rack, then set the bar catchers in the saftey pin positions so they can rack the bar there at the end of their set... srsly wtf...

although... last night... this one really, really made my head spin... so i'm doing squats and a guy comes and sets up a bar behind me with 20kgs on the bar... i'm like sweet... he can see the rack is being used... he's just giong to do his curls out of the rack. the system works... he then goes and gets one of those little platforms (a few inches high) and puts it behind the bar... and i'm like "hrmmm, ok, I guess he is going to do some funky deadlift or clean or something and wants the extra rom (lol)"... he then stands on the platform... lifts the bar from the floor (underhand grip)... and starts doing those rows...

Re: General Gym Observations

that shirt is a complete joke. Obviously people who are against doing BB curls in the squat rack have not had an extreme bicep workout. I frequently do drop sets, forced reps, rest - pause for biceps so I need a place to rest the bar while I'm either changing weights for the drop sets, or pausing before another intense rep.
