Re: General Gym Observations

I'm mildly depressed at the fact that I'm not even to the point where I can do any lifts that rank as a novice in SS. But then again I am only doing 3x5 and haven't tried any 1RM stuff. When I get off work tonight I am going to make it a point to see if I can do any of the lifts 1x at novice strength. Come on press!

Super funny.

I almost spat my mouthfull of water out today in a fit of laughter when I saw the facial expressin on a junior broski 6 pack obsessed mirror staring 18 year old regular doing 5kg dumbbell standing external/internal rotations looking at his reflection in the window today.

Re: General Gym Observations

there's actually some damn strong old dudes at my gym. One is very muscular and skinny and he does mostly BB stuff and lots of rows and pulldowns and such, but he did a few sets of 225 rack pulls for 10 or so reps the other day. I'm guessing he's over 60.

My Dad's gym has this. There's a line of broads on cell phones in giant SUVs that backs up onto the highway and impedes productive humans from getting on with their lives.

The walk from the worst parking space to the front door is maybe 40 yards, probably less.

Re: General Gym Observations

Sorry but its has to be said I hate SUV drivers so much. Always blocking views and taking up too much space in parking lots. Hey if you go 4*4ing on the weekend fine but if you bought it as a giant pedestal to show all other drivers how superior you are then **** you.

Re: General Gym Observations

need an over/under on how many reps of 225lbs this person could squat:

40 year old woman, competitive ultra-marathon runner, weighs about 135lbs, lifts regularly as part of a supplemental program to the running.

Re: General Gym Observations

I mentioned earlier about my (5'5" 220) friend almost keeping up with my current SS workout after I've been at it for 2 months and he has never lifted weights. Well he came over again when I was finding my 1RM for a couple lifts. It turned out to be 125 for OHP right now, and he said he wanted to try it. I told him it wasn't a good idea to do it cold but he didn't care and was actually able to barely do it and get a full lockout WTF? And then I was DLing and he stepped in and DL'd 295 cold. WTF????

I agree both are surprising but OTOH he is 5'5" 220. In the process of of packing on all that fat your body naturally builds a fair amount of muscle.

I don't really sweat when I squat- but when I think of a wife beater I think of a sleeveless T which means that's not really an issue.

I've just been cutting the arms off of all my old xxl shirts that are too big to wear in public and more and working out in those.

just to make sure: even though the shirts are way too big now, you still have to wear shorts during your workouts.
