So I was squatting and a teenage kid asks me to watch his bar while he's away.

He was deadlifting about 185.

Sure, no problem. Nobody went near the bar while he was gone.

He comes back and says thanks and I say, "Some girl tried to grab it, so I beat her up."

with one of the squat/DL barbells of course. Until one of them had the brilliant idea to set up three stations, and they would rotate! The other two stations were dumbbell curls and probably other curls.

Every weightlifting specific club or crossfit I've been to has been 50%+ female. The wling club I got started at was prob 60% female. Females interested in recreational strength sports (well... oly lifting at least, powerlifting is for gross greasy fat guys obv) or at least barbell training definitely exist. At commercial gyms for whatever reason, they're exceedingly rare whereas there are nearly always at least a few male powerlifters/oly lifters/guys who squat regularly and well. Hell, just look at H+F, same thing going on there.

Why is this?

Is there any more disappointing moment in human history than seeing what appears to be the bottom of a pair of yoga pants in between the rows of machines, but upon further examination is actually a guy wearing a knee brace? I say no.

I'm bi-brolar as well. I don't think there's any convincing argument that doing a few sets of upper body isolation exercises will give you cancer and kill your squatting ability.
