Didn't have anyone to spot me for bench and they don't have pins or anything at the gym so just decided to see how many reps I could get on 135. Did a good 15min of lacrosse ball rolling on my back before hand and it helped take away most of the pain during all my lifts

Been playing a lot of golf out in Vegas and I think that caused a small issue in my shoulder. It hurt too much too keep going on DLs so I figured I wouldn't stress it anymore and rest it a few days

You mean Gary? I only see Gary up in here.

What is it with ppl who have real names as their 2p2 name but their real name is completely different? I mean, I assume next you'll tell me your name doesn't involve "Green", "Kool" or "Aid" in it and that Kidcolin's real name is Fred or something and BobboFitos goes by Henry or something ridiculous.

This place never makes any sense.

Gary (Alex?),

I'm enjoying reading your blog. We seem to have similar body types and I read the first 2 or 3 pages and realized they were from 2011 so I skipped to pages 8 and 9.

I noticed some changes. You curled on the 18th and 20th and tons of reps?

Also for OHP I can't do these with any weight at all without arching my back and a little strain. Would you recommend just doing 45 or 55 lbs and keeping my back straight or should I do them seated where it doesn't bother my back and I can do more weight?

Here's what my week looks like

Mon
bench: 165x5x3
pullups: 10;8;7
DLs: 145x5x3

Wed
OHP 55x5x3
Rows
Squats 125x5x3

Friday
Incline bench: 140x5x3
Chin Ups: 13,10,8
Lunges

I just started doing DLs and squats. also, I don't feel any pump at all after working out. That's why I'm wondering if I should add in something like curls or tricep extensions. Any thoughts?

thanks,

Kev

Hey Kev, glad you're enjoying the log. I began with starting strength a couple years ago and basically just did the basic SS lifts. I was definitely gaining strength and weight, but I still looked/felt like a DYEL noob. I decided to add on some stuff (curls/tris/abs) so I could look better/get bigger in other areas. It's loosely based off of the greyskull LP that i posted a while back-

Neck Harness

Wednesday
Bench/ or Press 2x5, 1x 5+
Weighted Chins 2 x 6-8 (press days, and only if you can do at least 6-8 BW chins)
Deadlift 1x 5+ (with or without power cleans as warmups)
Neck Harness

Friday
Bench/ or Press (A/B) 2x 5, 1 x 5+
Curl 2x 10-15 (bench days)
Squat 2x 5, 1x 5+
Neck Harness

Bodyweight Chins are done every day.
5 lb jumps on Squat and Deadlift
2.5lb jumps on pressing movements and curls (when rep ranges are satisfied)
When reps on last set fall below 5, take 10% off of bar and begin process over (on that lift only)

i'll probably start this next lift. i think i'll do everything besides the neck harness

I'm not close to being an expert on lifting so you should probably consult more knowledgeable posters in H&F or a smart trainer. http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/85...thread-639746/ here is the beginners questions thread which should help answer any questions you have. I would guess the best way to improve your form would be to stick with the regular OHP and take videos of yourself and post them in the form check thread- http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/85...thread-961034/. I've never done the seated OHP so I don't know the benefits of that exercise.

Life/lifting/poker update-
I was out in Vegas for almost 7 weeks this summer for the wsop just like every summer for the past 7 years. I played I think 9 tournaments and bricked them all... That makes two wsops in a row w/o cashing (0/25). I'm not the best tournament player but I've worked a bunch on my tournament game by talking with very good tournament players and reviewing hands and situations. The variance in live tourneys is just so gross, I still plan on playing them but I'm going to keep the schedule to a minimum to avoid risking to much of my BR on them. I also grinded cash out there both live and online on ultimate poker. UP's games were actually pretty good and had enough action going all summer that I could probably make a good living off just that if their site maintained as much traffic as it had this summer (not sustainable since a bunch of the players playing this summer were from out of state and just visiting).

My girlfriend was also out at the wsop all summer and massaging at the rio. We both had a good time out there and she was offered a permanent job because of how good/in demand she was. So we're now considering moving out to Vegas full time for a few years potentially starting sometime this fall/winter. I was skeptical at first because almost all my friends and family are on the east coast and I don't know many people who live in Vegas year round. However I had to consider that Vegas offers bigger and more consistent games than Foxwoods and they now offer online poker as well which is a huge plus. After a lot of thought I agreed that it would be a good move for us and we're about 80% to move out there in the next 6 months.

I played basketball out in Vegas probably 7 times and was sorta rusty. I played once with aejones, Assani and their crew who play early mornings (10am!!!) probably 3 days/week but I couldn't keep up with that schedule so I mostly played pickup games at the UNLV gym. Games were soso with my roommate and I usually being two of the best players on the court.

I also got my gf into golf this summer and she's become obsessed with it. She just bought a new set of clubs and can't wait to play as often as she can. We played 4 rounds out in Vegas together and went to the range a couple times, I also played a few rounds with some poker friends and my best round was an 83, which oddly enough was the first round I played there. One of the best benefits of living in Vegas would be playing golf all year, can't wait for that. My dad is a PGA teaching pro so I grew up around the game and played throughout high school and one year at tufts. Unfortunately I hit my peak in golf around the age of 11 when I was a 3 handicap, I basically played 18-36 holes/day almost everyday during the summers. Now I'm probably a 10-15 handicap but I'm working to bring that down to single digits by the end of the summer. I have been self teaching myself but I'll be playing a few rounds with my dad in a couple weeks so I'll have him take a look at my swing and let me know what to work on. I'm going to start keeping track of my scores in this log and will talk a little about the round as well as training/practice stuff

I lifted all summer out in Vegas until the last week or so because my back and shoulders began hurting. I made decent gains out there and figured I'd take some time off to rest/heal those injuries. I just started back at my gym near my gf's place today and things went well. I'm resetting a little bit but will probably move up faster than the pace I was going at the last few months.

DF2 - Can't you have an assistant or someone do that now that you are rolling in dough at your new job? Gotta make time for 2p2 related shenanigans imo.

Mainly so then there is some activity in this damn log I always check in on, lol.

Seems legit to have them go to home depot for you - if they give you lip you can just flex your fully pumped chesticles with a DYEL stare. Or maybe it's better to have them just caddy for you instead.

seems like a smart Vegas move. friends/family holding me on the east coast. I feel like if I could play online all day and drive 20 minutes to Bellagio I would have all the maney.

good luck with everything.
