The Ameritard doctor system is so lol.

I've never had an mri, but i've gone in to a gp with severe shoulder pain. He's sent me to an x-ray, on the same day referred me for an injection. I scheduled it for the next day, walked in, got jabbed, walked out. Didn't cost a cent.

HS, have you asked kyle/cha/other knowledgeable people directly for help? Have you tried going to a PT or chiro? Sounds sucky, best of luck with your restitution.

From what I know about shoulder injuries (mostly reading stuff KyleB and Cha say, if it hasn't started to get better on its own by a certain point, it probably isn't going to).
We'll I have not tried completely letting it rest yet.... not sure if it will be enough.

despite having never done the TM, i question the need for the big volume day. just throwing it out there. From what I get, when you reach decent strength levels, it's the work above ~90% of your max that most of your gains come from.

yes it did. /hjiack. seriously it's over.

I am not sure how needed it is. I have just been doing it for a long time, and I am still getting steady (bi-weekly) gains doing it this way.

That being said, I will probably move to something else after I come back from my cardiotard adventure.

Have not chosen between 5/3/1, coan, smolov, or something else yet.

what i mean to say, rather than this formula:

mon: 5x5
weds: 3x3
fri: intensity (3 singles, heavy triple, whatever)

i wonder if you just did 3x5 or even a max 3x3 or whatever it'd make much of a difference.

you are allowed to change the reps/sets to something that works. eventually 5x5 is going to be impossible to maintain when adding weight every time. or you'll stall on friday. like it says in PP, one thing to try is dropping a set from monday.

from experience i think 3x5 is on the bottom end of what would work, and i think 3x3 would leave you stuck pretty soon, having to add volume to continue progressing.

I think I'm coming to the conclusion that squatting 2x5 as heavy as possible twice a week is superior for me than any intermediate program. On Texas Method my 5rm squat stalled twice between 290 and 300. Switched my programming to 2x5 twice a week and recently made 325x5.

I am def getting close to stalling on 5x5... it is just absolutely grueling work now. I don't think I have ever actually failed a rep on volume squats though.

i just find it kinda weird. I dunno. I made a lot of squat progress doing a westside scheme of ME/DE twice a week.

i could be totally off, but on paper it just seems to have poor recovery requirements: progress ratio.

looking at your old videos you squatted 375x1 like a year ago, about 7-8 months after starting SS? and then 415x1 ten months later? i understand there was some time off.

halfslant failed his first attempt at 300x5 in june and got to 350x5 after ~7 months.

maybe you should try TM?

I did my first squat ever on January 19th 2010, so 300x5 was after 5 months, and 350x5 was exactly 11 months (to the day). I am within 3 lbs BW of where I was when I started (not sure if that is a brag or a beat).

Gonna test my 1RM on January 19th to see my 1 year progress.

2010 was a failure year workout wise. I hit that 375 end of Jan, had a pretty good feb, kinda pulled a JonFon with conflicting goals in march/april, then pretty much didn't work out until mid-Sept.

So really, when I came back in Sept, I was weaker than a 375 1RM (granted muscle memory helped get back there fast) and I hit 405 in ~5 weeks (early nov) and 415 on Nov 22nd.

i'm not really saying one is better than the other, and maybe TM is the nuts, but it seems like everyone I know who's done it feel like it beats the **** out of them.

Damn you guys. I'm close to transition period and have been trying to decide what program to move on to. Feel like I'm on a seesaw.

I wanna get strong, but don't wanna beat the **** out of myself lol.

I bitch about volume day right after I do it, but it doesn't give me terrible DOMS or anything. Its just terrible when you do 2 heavy sets and you realize "jesus christ I have to do that 3 more times???"

That being said, recov day is a breeze obviously and I look forward to intensity day.

I think if you shoved your knees out more, depth would come easier.

I knew the looked borderline when I watched the vid while still in the gym. Was not about to go for round 2 however.

I don't know how much wider I can get (or want to get) my knees to go. Any downsides to making them wider? There has to be a point where its too wide.

I think other than that my form looks pretty solid.

Its a body proportion thing. If you have long femurs (like I do and it appears you do) then the only way to squat deep (and squat between your legs instead of on top of them) is to have your knees farther apart. The healthiest way to achieve this is most likely to push your knees out more, although you can experiment with a wider stance too.

Its a pretty small rock in the grand scheme of things, your form is definitely solid and it looks like you could handle at least another 10 lbs.
