I am starting to get worried about this stall. I need to line up a new goal. Maybe I can convince myself I need some training to walk around in San Francisco for a trip I have coming up in a couple months. I need Coach Loco to come berate me with lots of fack bombs. I need to read a motivational post by Monte where he throws together a perfect beef wellington, souffle, bearnaise sauce and baked Alaska from scratch with only a paper clip and some olive oil all before breakfast while at the same time Coaching the mini’s to victory in soccer uniforms that he hand crafted the night before and then slams out a few perfect sets of squats with his impossibly long limbs. All while working on the road overseas. I need Thremp to be freed.

Maybe I’ll go watch old vids of G4S leaping out of a pool.

My wife is jealous that I tend to not eat when depressed/lost in obsession land. Like most, she tends to go the other direction. Bumped my cals back up a bit with a steak, a couple sweet potatoes and an ice cream sandwich. Added some greek yogurt and whey on top.

Pulled up a rep short at 190 and didn’t take a crack at 205. It felt good to get back at it a bit though. When I was done anyway.

I still do not have a clear goal but it is shifting closer to some kind of maintenance and away from strength gains. I will keep trying to move more weight but I would like to chip away at improving general health and fitness and want to get my body in trekking shape. Following the recent Grand Canyon trip there has been some Macchu Picchu and Kilimanjaro-ish type trips discussed. Something like that may or may not happen but getting ready for such a thing will hopefully keep me motivated.

My boys have been pushing hard for some camping trips and I have been slowly giving in. I spent the last several days chipping away at gearing up. One of my brothers wants to drag me with him for a night or two in the Adirondacks as well so decent timing on the gearing up. Hiking in the Adirondacks sounds like something that lifting weights would be useful for so maybe I can convince myself to pick them up again.

Macchu Picchu would be amazing to do. I think that's a really great way to motivate yourself with fitness. Just doing stuff for H&F is all well and good but easy to ignore on a cold/hot/rainy/busy/meh day. The thought of getting yourself ready for an adventure is much more inspiring. Imo anyway Good luck, I hope you get there.

Thanks Rexx. A couple months ago I would have argued that I don't need any sort of goal to keep me at it but that was when I had one. I think you nailed it about H&F being very easy to ignore on certain days.

Failed the last rep on OHP. Last rep on each of the last few sets of chins was borderline. Typically, my shoulders touch or almost touch the hand grips on NG chins. On the last rep I was somewhere closer to nose barely over the hand grips which should still have my chin over the bar, but perhaps not.

My waist around the belly button has seemingly jumped to 33.5 inches from 32 inches just last week. My little bit of muscle is apparently melting and sliding down my body and getting caught just above my hips. It’s a good look.

I paid my respects to the temp(?) closing of MLYLT’s log with half of a breakfast donut and an afternoon bacon cheese burger. I messed up with the broccoli side choice, but I tried. In my defense I wasn’t aware of the log closing until later otherwise I would have gone full poutine or onion rings. I broke my knee and ran a half marathon in the evening. Not going to log it though because I was limping a lot. Cals may be off a little (1k at a min). RIP.

Sucked it up and did some squats in the morning. Managed to get all my prescribed reps in this time after not coming close on the last squat day. I have been slacking on my warm up and core stuff but it sure makes a nice difference in the time commitment. I’m sure I’ll be pleased with the time savings when my lower back goes oldman snappo again. I did not suck it up and complete the bbb block pulls same day. Squeezed half an ice cream sandwich bar and a good pile of movie popcorn into the calorie count and all I had to give up were fruits and veggies. Homage paid.

I know this is a bit late but I really like what you did with your outside area. It looks great! Do you use your pool much? I've only lived somewhere that had a pool once but I used it constantly. It was the tropics though so could be used all year round.

I don't use it as much as I feel I should but between two kids, my wife and various other family members it does get a good amount of use. I go in stints where I use it fairly regularly but I haven't had one of those yet this pool season. We open it pretty early in May and will keep it open until fairly early in October and just burn a ton of gas keeping it heated. Pools are a bit silly up here in Canada. Year round locations make much more sense. Worth it just for the fun with the kids though imo.

+/- a decent amount on cals. We had a potluck lunch at the office and I had a birthday dinner after work so there was lots of guestimating going on. A couple smartasses at the office asked me where my food scale was when I was loading up my plate. I was also mocked for bringing salad with no dressing. Fair enough on both counts I suppose. I thought Tuesday was going to be THE day to get a full workout done all within the same day but I let the evening slip away on me.
