Today:

Bench: 4x187.5, 2x3x187.5, 3x5x165
Squat: 2x5x260, 4x260

Played a soccer game and then lifted after. Not sure how much that affected things, I play goal and I do get pretty sweaty just jumping around and tracking the ball from side to side, but I'm never out of breath or anything. Bench felt super heavy, almost failed the last rep of each set. Squat started off feeling great, probably could have done a sixth rep easy on my first set, but went downhill quickly. Could feel my chest caving towards the end of the second set, and then had to grind out the fourth rep of the last set and just racked it.

Weighed in today at 198.0, so surely that had something to do with. Also run what was according to onthegomap.com exactly 5k yesterday in a time of 23:40, albeit with a couple of places where I stopped the timer while waiting at a cross street for traffic to clear, so I did have a couple of 10 second rests thrown in there.

Now that I've worked my way up to 5k or more, going to track my runs in here too. Did 5k in 23:46 today legit without having to pause the stopwatch at all to wait for traffic

Was going to lift today, but got slammed into the boards last night playing soccer and broke my fall with my wrist, and it wasn't feeling great today. So instead I ran today, 5k in 24:07. Little slower, but it's a lot hotter today than it was earlier, so that might have had something to do with it. Weighed in at 197 this morning

Today:

Bench: 10x165
Deadlift: 7x375

Hand still is sore, so I switched from press to bench. Need to get it looked at/X-rayed this week, it's been a month and a half since I originally hurt it and it's only marginally better at best. It doesn't really affect my day to day life at all, but it does consistently hurt when it gets bent in either direction, whether that's serving in tennis, deflecting a shot with it in soccer, or pressing overhead.

As far as melting away goes, weighed in at 196 today, dat water weight. Have two bbqs the next two days though and just got a last minute invitation to go to one tonight, so we'll see what Tuesday's number is.

Played an indoor soccer game, tied 6-6. Then decided to do a little shorter run since, although you don't get much cardio from playing goalkeeper, you do work up quite a sweat, and did 1.91 miles in 14:39. Had a pretty big reverse split, checked my watch at the cross street that I know is just over a mile in and was 15 seconds faster than I ever have been, did the math when I got back and it was around a 7:15 mile. Gassed pretty hard on the way in, it's in the mid-80s and I could feel myself start to shut down, ended up walking the last few blocks. Was planning on doing two miles since I knew I didn't have nearly enough energy to do the full route, but I realize I made a mistake laying out the route beforehand, so I would have been way over two miles had I finished anyways.

Ran 5k in 25:15 today. Depending on whether you believe weather.gov or some random Chrome weather extension I downloaded, it's 85 or 89 out right now, so I purposefully took it slow so that I wouldn't gas out like yesterday. Legs were feeling pretty heavy, but made the whole route without stopping at all.

Felt like I took it pretty good the last few days, except I couldn't help myself around the dessert table yesterday. Weighed 200 on the dot today

Today:

Press: 9x115
Squat: 9x225

Was going to reset sooner or later, and I was feeling lazy, so today it is. Taped up, wrist felt pretty good. Weighed in at 199.8, getting that post-Memorial Day bloat off

Ran 3.85 km in 18:45, then had to shut it down, could feel myself overheating. It's 85 out today. Walked a couple of blocks and then ran the final 0.95 km in 4:45. Weighed in at 198 today. Need to get myself one of those camel back things if I'm going to keep doing this outdoors in the middle of the afternoon, just can't keep doing this in the heat of the day while hopped up on stimulants.

5k today in 25:14. Had to stop at one side street about 6 minutes in for 5-10 seconds, didn't bother to stop the clock. Other than that did it with no stops. Just did it now, so less sun at least, although it's still around 80 give or take a degree.

Today:

Bench: 10x170
Deadlift: 6x380

Bench was great. Took each rep nice and slow and controlled, really tried to focus on the leg drive. Pretty much a 10/10 effort on the last rep, really had to grind but I wanted 10 reps again. Deadlift was tough, had a bit of a hitch to lock out the sixth rep. Probably getting towards the end of the line there with the weight loss. Weighed in today at 196.6. Playing three soccer games tomorrow, see how much water loss there will be on Monday

Just did 5k in 23:19. Cold front came through and dropped temps down to the high 60s, a million times easier than last week. 27 seconds better than my previous best, so quite a jump. Was feeling a little sore from yesterday but not too bad. Lower back was a little tight and I scraped up my elbow pretty good which stings a bit due to the sweat, but obviously nothing too bad. Weighed myself before I hopped in the shower after my last game yesterday, even after drinking a bunch I was still down to 193 and change. But after eating a bunch last night got back up to 196.2 this morning

Yesterday:

Press: 7 or 8x117.5
Squat: 9x230

Can't remember exactly how many reps I got, just know I didn't hit 9. Did the first set without taping up, could feel it. Then taped up for the last two and it felt fine. Also played a couple sets of tennis yesterday, wrist was feeling much better. Could actually follow through on my shots and especially my serves instead of just punching the ball over the net.

Ran 5k in 24:34 just now. Did it a little differently than most of my runs. Usually I have a bit of a reverse split and start to lag in the middle, but today I started off at what I thought felt like a pretty fast pace, but when I checked my watch it was actually slower than normal. Ended up feeling pretty strong through the whole run, usually when I get to the end I feel like I'm completely spent, but had a ton more in the tank tonight, could have kept going easily if I stayed at the same pace instead of picking it up a notch over the last few hundred meters.

Weighed in at 197.2 this morning

Today:

Bench: 8x175
Deadlift: 6x365

Same amount of reps on the bench as last time but 11 pounds lighter, so I’ll take it. Deadlift was a little better, sixth rep didn’t have a big hitch like last time. Forgot to weigh myself this morning, was 197.6 I think midday

Today:

Press: 8x120
Squat: 8x235

Felt decent. Taped up for everything, wrist was bothering me a little from playing a bunch of tennis yesterday, but it didn’t hurt too bad once it was taped. Playing another soccer tripleheader tomorrow and was pretty tired after tennis yesterday, so won’t run again until Monday. Weighed 195.2 just now post workout

Ran 2.12 miles in 15:30, so a 7:19 pace. Would have done the full distance except I was working all afternoon and couldn't run over my lunch break, and now I have a kickball double header that I have to take a cold shower and leave in 15 minutes for. But felt good, quick pace obviously. Weighed in at 195.2 or 6 today, can't remember the exact number, not that 0.4 pounds matters.

Today:

Bench: 8x177.5
Deadlift: 7x370

Bench felt pretty much the same. Last rep was pretty slow but smooth, didn’t have to work through any sticking points. Deadlift felt great, was an easy seven. Could probably have done an eighth rep if I really wanted to grind one out, but decided to leave it in the tank. Weighed in at 195.8

Ran 5k in 23:25. Weighed myself right before I left, 196.0. Looked down at my watch as I hit the final cross street and knew I was going to be close to my previous best, but couldn't quite get there even with a final sprint, too much ground to make up. Almost threw up a banana I ate a little bit before I left, but managed to hold it down. About 10 degrees warmer than my previous best and I played a few sets of tennis earlier today, albeit badly with so many unforced errors that it was a mediocre at best workout, but maybe I would have got there if the conditions were the same.

Today:

Press: 7x122.5
Squat: 7x240

Played a couple innings of kickball and then a fairly easy soccer game right before lifting, barely broke a sweat. Definitely pussied out on the squat, had another rep in me easy if I’d gone for it. Forgot to weigh myself this morning, but was 196.4 after I got home and ate, and I usually gain a few pounds over the course of the day. Definitely getting thinner, my lifting belt is getting super loose and I need to cut a few new holes in it

Ran 5k in 24:19. Felt like I started out slow and then picked it up over the last mile, but checking the cross street times now that I'm back it seems like I kept a pretty steady pace. Was 195.6 this morning

Today:

Bench: 5x180, 2x4x180
Deadlift: 7x375

Played a couple of soccer games this afternoon, then got a lift in before playing another one late tonight at 8. Felt like I added 25 pounds to the bench, not 2.5. Not sure what happened there, but it felt so heavy, will redo it. Deadlift felt pretty good though. Drilled a new set of holes in my belt, was able to do a much better job pressing against it since it wasn't so loose. Weighed in at 195 this morning

Today:

Hot one out there today, 89 and humid, so I split my run into two loops today and stopped for a minute to get some water in between. Cut my first loop a little shorter than I intended, turned down the wrong street, so did 2.24km in 10:09 for the first part, 11:44 for 2.57km for the second loop. So a little quicker pace than I would have done for one long run, but nothing crazy. Weighed 194.8 I think this morning

Press: 6x125
Squat: 7x245

Press was meh. Got a seventh rep to my forehead but no higher. Wrist was taped super tight and felt pretty good. Squat was smooth, got a lot more out of the belt. Weighed in at 195.2 today

Decided to mix in some longer, slower runs, did 4.35 miles in 44:28 today. Just tried to do it at a pace that was nice and easy, any time I felt like I started to even slightly begin breathing hard I took it down a notch. My previous runs have all been pretty close to flat out, I'm spent at the end of them, but I could have kept up this pace for a lot longer. Like I said, didn't even need to catch my breath at the end, piece of cake.

So I think I'll do this once or twice a week, gradually on add on another mile or two since it was so easy, do once a week a harder 5k like I've been doing, and then maybe find a track and run some 400s at a little faster than my 5k pace. That way I should cover all my bases cardiowise rather than just doing the same distance and the same pace over and over and over.

I do have to say that I can see how people can consider running a fun hobby if they do most of their running at a similar exertion level. It wasn't a runner's high or anything, but it was kind of peaceful. I wasn't mentally counting down how many side streets I have left like I normally do while just trying to make it to the end.

Weighed in this morning at 194.0
