Today:

Press: 8x127.5

Press went fine. Squat was going fine, did all my warmups, but then I got under the bar for my first work set and I got a shooting pain going down my left shoulder, the one that I hurt this summer. So I racked it, gave it a little massage, stretched it out, tried again. As soon as I walked it out, shooting pain again. Tried it twice more with progressively wider grips, still pain. So not sure what happened in between my last warmup set at 185 and unracking 225, but I had to abort. It was a good month or two this summer when it felt like this every time I raised my arm above my head, hopefully this goes away sooner than that did.

My shoulder definitely felt a little uncomfortable today and I had to adjust it a little bit as I got under the bar, but no shooting pain today. Which was good, because it along with the benching felt good

Haven't updates this in a little while, let's see if I can remember everything.

Last Week:

Press: 7x130
Deadlift: 8x360

Bench: 10x162.5
Squat: 8x230

Today:

Press: 6x132.5
Deadlift: 2x365, 7x365

Think that's all right. Didn't get in the gym much over the holidays, but back at it today. Forgot to chalk up for my first attempt at the deadlift today, stopped after two reps and realized that's why it didn't feel good in my hand. Maybe I would have hit eight reps if I had chalked from the beginning, but who knows. Press did not feel great, really had to grind out the last rep just to hit six. Maybe it's missing a workout or two, who knows, or maybe it's just that I seem to hit a wall quicker on the press than on my other lifts.

Didn't find time to come in over the weekend. Played basketball Monday and either did something to my shoulder then or slept on it wrong, because it was killing me yesterday. Downgraded to a dull ache today, so finally worked out again, went about as expected

So when you say, "Bench: 11x165" is it implied that's after 2 sets of 5 at the same weight, except deadlifts?

Yeah, he's doing GSLP (or at least he was at the beginning of the log), so 5/5/5+ is the rep scheme for the main lifts

Monte is correct, I'm doing GSLP, except I'm being lazy and missing a workout every week it seems like. But there's an implied 2x5 before everything but deadlifts.

Today:

Bench: 11x167.5
Squat: 7x240

Neither felt real great, although I was able to just keep grinding out slow bench reps. Squat never felt good, pretty slow

So haven't updated this in a while, been lifting on and off, mostly off. My last two workouts for posterity, squats from today:

Press: 5x140
Deadlift: 6x380

Bench: 10x172.5
Squat: 2x5x250, 4x250

Squat felt like **** from the start, then slow last rep and didn't want to push it. Lack of volume is catching up to me, shouldn't be stalling this low at my current weight, which is somewhere around 215 right now. I'm in a bad place right now, fat and weak, got to get this **** taken care of.

Squat: 5x255

Rough first set of the press, but then rebounded the last two, decent speed on the last rep of each, although no shot at a sixth. Squat felt much improved, probably could have done a sixth if I pushed it but form was breaking down a touch, so I stopped at five.

In other news, felt like I needed a kick in the ass, so I started up a weight loss prop in OOT. 50 bucks a month for six months, with 100 bucks to the overall winner. Hopefully public shaming is enough to get me to 180 or below by the beginning of summer, and I'd prefer that to pushing any marginal gains in my lifts. Just don't like the way I feel right now, clothes aren't fitting great, feel slow and awkward when I move around.

OOT fat off starts today, checking in at 214.0 to start. Little disappointed in my starting weight, I was up around 219 before I went to sleep, so must not be retaining much water this morning. It's OK, just gotta lose actual weight. For some extra motivation, here's some noodz to track as well

I round up to 5'10 from 5'9.5. It's with DoctorZangief in the hunchcapping thread. Warning, I took my first scale picture without socks, ruffled some jimmies. I don't really know him, but he was looking for someone to go against, I need motivation, and he's 5'10 210, so should be a pretty even battle.

Bench was OK. Grip of all things failed on my deadlift, got it above my knee and then it slipped out of my left hand, pretty sure I would have locked it out no problem. Never had the grip be an issue before, just chalk up and go mixed grip for anything above three plates. It was hotter than balls in the gym today and stimulants probably didn't help, so I was pretty sweaty. But hopefully it's just a one time thing.

So I think I only went to the gym once last week? Can't really remember, might be repeating these weights. Might have had another bench rep, but played it safe. My grip started to fail again on the third deadlift rep, I only really chalked up my right hand and then sort of rubbed my hands together because I had some excess, but clearly it wasn't enough since it started slipping out of my left hand. So chalked it up and banged out two more reps with a 20/30 second rest, so more like x3, x2

Finally dragged my lazy ass to the gym. Since I haven't been in a while and I'm cutting, I decided to reset. Went fine. Played basketball Monday, in woeful shape. Have to do more than light lifting once a week

Messed up the weight for the first bench set, thought it felt a touch heavy. Definitely getting weaker, hope it's worth it and I put up a good weight on Jan 31. But two days in the gym this week, keep the momentum going and get one in on Sunday too

Might have those reversed, but that's the opposite of what I did last week. Or could have 8 and 8, unsure. In other news, weighed in at 203.8 today, down from 214 at the beginning of the month. Obviously probably got a boost from less retained water after kicking off a diet, but still a really good weight loss, almost too much. Blew my competitor away. We'll see how next month goes, sub 200 for sure hopefully

Press felt good, but squats were awful. I was getting lightheaded towards the end of every set, and the fifth rep was a **** show each time, just slow and terrible and losing tightness. Was sick over the weekend, was awake for maybe two hours on Saturday, so maybe still feeling the effects of that
