My left foot was actually sore afterwards. Not sure whether it's a result of the running or I bruised it playing soccer and just aggravated it. I did mention it at my physical today and had the doctor take a look at it since some googling for foot pain running had me worried I might have gone too hard and had a stress reaction/stress fracture, but he didn't seem too worried about it and poking and prodding at it. The nurse or whoever who took my blood pressure and asked the questions before he came into the room took me I shouldn't google because everyone convinces themselves they have cancer.

Anyways, just got back from my repeats. Did the ~430m in 88, 81, 86, 84, 88, 81 seconds. My goal this time was to do all of them under 90 seconds, which I did, and then try to beat 76 seconds on the last one, which I just did not have enough left in the tank after the first five.

My foot is actually a little sore now too. Not as bad as Saturday, but a little bit. Taking a look at my foot, the vein is a little swollen right where it’s sore. I’ll put a picture in spoilers so you can choose whether to look at my feet.

Played a couple of soccer games earlier tonight, then just did 5.04 miles in 46:40, about 9:16 per mile. Don’t normally play Weds, but was asked to sub for a few weeks since their keeper is traveling, and then one of the teams coming on afterwards also needed a sub and asked me. Pretty easy games overall, gave up two goals the first game and none the second, wasn’t exactly being peppered with shots either game. My legs still felt so heavy on this run though, just plodded on home. Meant to be to run around lunchtime but I have the worst time management skills

Tempo run just now, warmup of just under a mile and then 2.5 miles in 18:08, 7:15 pace. Woke up with a weird bump and a bruise at the base of my neck/upper back today. Don't remember getting hit there at all in yesterday's or the day before's games, but always fun to find out later. Would have thought I'd have remembered making a save with my back or getting kicked there.

And got my long run in, 9.1 miles in 84:12, a 9:15 pace

Did my sprints last night. 87, 85, 85, and then didn’t start the watch correctly on either of the last two, annoying. Ran the last fast, would have liked to have known the time.

Got a lift in this afternoon too. Been over two weeks since the last time I bench/deadlifted, so I kept the weight the same. Did 11x160 on the bench, 5x390 on the dead.

Foot felt fine after running yesterday and was fine this morning. Then I had a dentist appointment this afternoon before I lifted, and something about lying down with my shoes on really bothered the foot, it was throbbing by the end. But weirdly as soon as I put some weight on it again and started walking, the pain was cut by 95%. Playing soccer tonight, we’ll see how it feels. Might run afterwards late tonight if it feels good

Got a lift in yesterday in between three kickball playoff game.

Press: 4x127.5
Squat: 5x250

Considering how little I've been lifting, can't complain about either one.

Fell a bit behind with my running this week, so just did my tempo run right now before I go play soccer. Ran just under a mile in 8:30, then stretched it out a little and ran 3.1 miles in 22:25, so I finally broke my old 5k record by 7 seconds. Not the same route though, just happened to work out to be the same distance according to onthegomap, so possibly could be some errors in the route, and I did have to stop at about the 1 and 2 mile marks at a red light for 20-30 seconds each time where I stopped the watch, but still, felt good

Got a run in just now, 7 miles in 60:15, 8:34 pace. Fell a little bit behind on my running, this was supposed to my long run to end last week, but no big deal, just have some easy running and a lifting session or two planned before hopefully smashing my 5k PR Saturday morning. Foot is feeling pretty great at the moment, no pain.

Today:

Bench: 9x165
Deadlift: 5x395

Tempo run: 2.11 miles in 15:59, 7:35 pace

Hit the gym around lunch, did my run just now. Gym was fine. Deadlift is getting close to the limit, really having to give it everything on the final rep. Run was a fairly easy pace, pushed it a little but didn't kill myself, wasn't breathing all that hard or felt like I killed myself when I finished, so I should have plenty more in me. Was supposed to finish the day up with an 11 PM late night soccer game, but must have been too late for the other team and they forfeited, so I'm done for the day.

That looks like a mean bunion on your right foot. Probably going to get worse, I would get a toe separator for that.

22:40 official time today. Rookie mistake and thought I was hanging around the front of the pack prerace, but then everyone turned around and went the other way once it got started, so I got stuck in the back of the pack for the first 3-4 minutes on some narrow park paths. Definitely lost some time there. Either way, slower than I wanted, didn’t hit the sub 22 that I wanted. Got to get back dieting, was 190.2 this morning, definitely need to keep dropping weight

And loco, my foot’s been like that my whole life as far as I can remember, hasn’t bothered me yet

Also just checked the results online, finished 38/635. Lost 38 seconds by starting in the back since they sort overall by gun time, was 32nd by chip time, plus however many seconds I lost having to pass 350 people who were ahead of me. Also, the women's winner was 11 years old and smoked me by over two minutes, damn girl

Today:

Press 3x130
Squat: 4x255

Played soccer and then made it back in the gym. Not the best night to do it since I managed to jam not one but both wrists making saves tonight, but they weren't too painful so I continued on anyways. Weak lifting though, albeit to be expected with how infrequently I'm going. Going to do some light running and lifting the rest of the week and then try and find another running program to start up next week.

Yesterday:

Bench: 6x170
Deadlift: 5x400

Then ran 5 miles today. Did one short 3 mile run Saturday just to get the blood flowing a little. Good news is that by taking almost an entire week off from running, my foot seems to be a lot better, no pain whatsoever when running and it wasn't at all sore when I used my left foot to kick when playing soccer this weekend. So think I'm going to try and slowly increase the mileage a little bit now and stay away from sprinting at the moment, throw in a tempo run or some fartleks along with two or three medium to long runs each week.

Meant to lift today, but was lazy and didn't go. Did a 4 mile fartlek/interval run, whatever you want to call it. Basically just did a block or two hard, the jogged for a block or two until I caught my breath, then went hard again. Was pretty fun, I enjoyed this.

Hit the gym after getting smoked in soccer tonight.

Press: 3x132.5
Squat: 5x260, 2x4x260

Pretty much as expected. Going to just keep grinding down to triples and then reset.

Today:

Bench: 8x170
Deadlift: 5x405

Been pretty lazy, but did a 4 mile fartlek yesterday, and then got back in the gym and felt the best I have in a while. Bench bounced back, deadlift felt very solid.

Pretty sure I did a five mile run at some point last week, Thursday I think, then have been away all weekend and didn't do anything. Did a tempo run just now, feeling pretty slow. Did 4.65 miles total with a 10/20/10 split, ran the middle 20 at just about an 8 min/mi pace. Have to get back to consistently running and get back to where I was a few weeks ago.

Probably should update this. Hit the gym once last week. Something is ****ed in my right thumb, worked my way up to a failure at 135 in the press and shut it down, just hurt too much. Squat felt heavy, reset to 225 and did 7 or 8, forget which. Did a 4 miles fartlek run on Monday. Yesterday, did 7x175 on the bench and 4x410 on the deadlift. And just did a 5 mile run now in 19 degree temps, makes you feel alive. Everything felt warm except for my dick, that was getting super cold by the end despite the fact that I was running in sweatpants.

Post-Thanksgiving tempo run. 10 minute warmup at about a 9:30 pace, 20 minutes hard at about a 7:50 pace, then 5 minutes cool down at about a 10:00 pace. Little tricky with the sidewalks a little iced over, but managed not to fall over

Ran a 3 mike farlek on Monday. Lifted on Tuesday, 8x115 press, 8x230 squat. Thumb is still annoying. Unscrewing jars, typing on my phone, putting on a shirt, those are the things where I notice it the most, just a dull ache with the occasional sharp pain if I’m, say, pinching and twisting and stretch it wrong. Probably should get it looked at, it doesn’t seem to be getting better, but it’s not enough to interfere with my entire life to the point where I have to.

Finally, just PRed the 5k, 22:03, wanted to do something quick at halftime so I didn’t fall too far behind. Did get stopped at a red light a little over a minute in and just under 7 minutes, but the final 15 were without stopping. Even adding in the 30-40 seconds I was waiting would have been a really good time. About the only thing I’ve consistently been doing are fartleks these days, been eating like **** too, so I’m going to give them the credit

Going to be out of commission for the next few weeks after getting kneed in the face Thursday making a terrible attempt to intercept a through ball and giving up a PK and breaking my nose instead. Getting it set on Wednesday, told no lifting or running for at least two weeks after that. So I'll try not to get too fat over Christmas without the option of working at least some of it off. There was some unlogged stuff from last week that I've forgotten by now, but I've done nothing since Thursday. For being broken it barely hurt, just bled for 10 minutes. Then when it stopped I went back in the game, but afterwards someone pointed out that it looked a little crooked, which it does. So hopefully recovery's not any worse.

So had my nose surgery last week, went fine. Didn't need any painkillers or anything afterwards and it's straight, so can't complain. Had my thumb looked at today though since it wasn't getting any better and they think I tore a ligament that requires surgery, MRI Thursday. The doctor or physician's assistant, not sure exactly, but he told me that he wanted it done ASAP since it had already been a month and a half, but then the office person at checkout looked at me like I had two heads when she read that he wanted it within a week and told me there was no way it was happening before the new year, so yay for arbitrary endpoints and hitting my deductible for 2018 in December and then getting started on my deductible in 2019 in January. Fun times

Two weeks out from my surgery, so cleared to be back working out. Ran 3 miles on Wednesday. Didn't time myself, but took it easy. Lifted yesterday. 9x105 in the press, 10x185 squatting. Between keeping the weight light and the brace they gave me, thumb felt pretty good. Also bought one of those masks for broken noses and played soccer yesterday. Despite the fact that we played a man up the entire game, decent amount of action, only won 11-7. No balls off the face, so can't test its effectiveness yet. Woke up with a sore elbow and ankle, so I know I'm back. Finally did a 2 mile fartlek just now. Definitely way out of shape compared to the beginning of the month, huffing and puffing. Hopefully it comes back soon. Had some medium DOMs today too along with a sore elbow and foot from soccer, good to be back.

As for my thumb, the office woman was correct, no one in hell was anything getting done that quickly before the holidays. MRI got pushed back until the 31st because my insurance hadn't appoved it, and I'm meeting with the surgeon on the 3rd. So we'll see if I go back on the disabled list sometime soon. Assume I'll at least be able to run and maybe do some safety squatting or something if I get surgery and they put a more permanent cast on while it heals.

Just ran a 5k in a laughably slow 27:30. Also weighed myself, 203, fat as ****. Probably in reality am several pounds lighter than that, have ate a bunch today already, but I’ve pretty much undone all my work getting in shape this year in the last month. ****, gotta get back in a rhythm.
