Dudd, do you not have headphones while you run?

Today:

Press: 7x117.5
Squat: 8x230

Felt OK. Wrist is still not great, had to make sure it stayed straight or I felt it pretty good. Squat was decent.

Weighed 190.2 today. And no, I don’t wear headphones while running. I’m a sweaty bastard, think whenever they would zoom in on Shaq at the free throw line and you get the idea. Whenever I’ve tried to wear headphones they just trap so much sweat and get disgusting so quickly that I spend as much time adjusting my headphones as anything else, so I’m just alone with my thoughts

Was busy most of the weekend, didn't make it into the gym. Just did a late night run, 4.96 miles in 43:07 (8:41 pace). Another hot day, still 78 and humid at midnight, but felt pretty good. Started out a little slow, did the first mile in over 9 minutes iirc, but then picked up the pace a touch from there since I was feeling decent.

Did my sprints just now, 4x430. Did them in 89, 87, 87, 88 seconds. So loco was spot on, even with an extra 30m hit 90s with ease.

Today:

Bench: 6x175
Deadlift: 6x380

Disappointingly not a one-day fluke on the bench, just weak as ****. Lost a rep on the deadlift, probably could have grinded out another rep if I really had to. Will get my run in later tonight, doing some traveling this weekend so going to end up compressing some things since I don’t know if I’ll get a chance to run Friday or Saturday. So I’ll do my medium run today, tempo run tomorrow, and then have my long run left to do over the weekend

And did 4.09 miles in 34:20, an 8:24 pace. Broke in some new shoes tonight which were vastly needed, had been running around on a year old pair. Pretty immediate difference, I was getting some soreness from the knees down but had none of that tonight, much fresher at the end.

Just did my tempo run. Ran a little under a mile in 9:30, then ran 2.07 miles in 15:29, then cooled down with a little over half a mile in 5:40. So fairly decent run, I'll take a 7:30 pace that was hard but not 100% effort

Saturday:

5m at 8:30 pace/1% incline on a hotel treadmill

Today:

5x~430 @ 93s, 88s, 85s, 86s, 84s

Slight mistake Saturday, repeated the same distance as last week when this was the only run of the week that differed from week one, was supposed to do six miles. So I'll just add a mile this week and then taper down one week less at the end. Had to do it on a treadmill since I was out of town and wasn't in a good place to go for a run outside.

Meant to hit the gym this afternoon and then get my run in tonight, but didn't make it because I'm horribly lazy. Really nailed the run though. The first one felt easy, then really kicked it up a notch. Focused more on driving the arms straight and up and not wasting energy swinging them at all sideways

Oh yeah, weighed 189.2 this morning

Probably had at least another rep in me for the squat, but didn't want to push it since I plan on running later tonight and it was a bit slow for the last rep.

And did my run, 5.03 miles in 43:14, 8:36 pace. Did it in two loops, a three-mile loop and a two-mile loop. Finished the three miles in 27 flat and decided I had a little more in me, picked it up a bit for the second loop. Still fairly easy, wasn't really breathing all that heavy at the end or anything.

Tempo run today. Probably did it a little too fast today. Ran the first mile at just over an 8:30 pace, touch too fast imo. Wasn't really checking my watch, just going off of feel, was a bit surprised when I glanced down at the mile mark. Then I ran 2.06 miles in 15 flat, a 7:17 pace. Started out even faster and ran the first mile in a touch under 7 minutes, then slowed down a bit over the last mile and change. Stopped there, no jogging after that because I have to shower and leave for a kickball game in 10 minutes.

Weighed 187.6 this morning.

Just ran 6.06 miles in 53:53, 8:54 pace. Was never out of breath, but my legs felt decently sore, especially in the groin area, so it wasn't an especially fun run. Weighed 188.6 this morning. Have two soccer games tomorrow, one at 11:30 and one at 6, so I'm going to try and fit a lifting session in between so I at least get to the gym twice this week.

You're playing keeper, right?

If not, I think 2 soccer games with a lifting session in between seems pretty insane.

Today:

Bench: 4x175, 5x155, 10x155
Deadlift: 5x385

Bench got even worse, so I took a plate off and reset. Deadlift was OK, grip started failing though. Needed more chalk. Weighed 188.0 this morning

And yeah, keeper in both games. It’s indoor so you get exponentially more action than outdoors and I do work up a good sweat, but it’s not as strenuous as playing two 90 minute games outdoors as a midfielder, for example. Two 25 minute halves indoor too, and the field players sub like in hockey.

I know one guy who plays all afternoon in the field, he pretty much subs for every team that needs someone. Not sure how he does it.

Just did my 6x~430m runs in 84, 83, 90, 89, 88, and 81 seconds. Started off fast and realized I wasn't going to keep that up, so slowed down in the middle. Then ran the last one about as fast as I could go, was pretty happy with it considering it was my sixth one. Definitely getting way better at these. Pretty sick to think that the marathon world record is a faster pace than every single one of those

Was going to get a lift in today too, but made dinner plans instead so prioritized the running over getting to the gym. Will go tomorrow. Weighed 189.6 this morning iirc, somewhere in the 189s

Nothing great. Weighed 189.0 this morning. Will get my run in later tonight. I also signed up for my first official 5k on October 20, so we'll see what kind of time I can put down in a real race and not just training. Hoping to be down around 185 in another month, so the combination of being 10 pounds lighter, having eight weeks of a real training plan under my belt, and having other people around for pacing/motivations means I'll hope to go sub 22:00 compared to my training PR of 22:32.

Just did my tempo run in 90 degree temps. Did a little under a mile at about a 9:30 pace or so, then ran 2.46 miles in 18:13, 7:24 pace, slightly slower than my PR pace. Could feel the heat starting to get to me, so I shut it down then and didn't do the cool down jog, just walked a couple house home to get a drink.

Need to start watching my diet more, been letting it get away a little bit figuring that I've got a little bit of a buffer due to the increased exercise. Weighed 190.2 this morning

Today:

Bench: 10x160
Deadlift: 5x390

Bench felt the most solid it has in weeks, smooth reps. Deadlift was fine. Maybe could have eked out a sixth, but why push it?

Then just did my run, 7.04 miles in 61:18, an 8:42 pace. Felt fairly easy, a cool 52 degrees at the start. Body felt pretty good, no lingering soreness in the legs at all, which I had been feeling at times.

Did my ~430m sprints in 94, 84, 94, 83, 93, 76. Did the first one at a very comfortable pace, then decided to alternate running them slow/fast, with the last one being pretty much all out to see if I could beat 80 seconds. So although I'm not ready to go run the 400m any time soon, I crushed 80 seconds with ease.

Did hurt my wrist again on Sunday. First shot of the game was smoked and was swerving pretty good, started out coming right at me but then curved a solid two or three feet. Had no shot to get the body behind it, just stuck my hand out and parried it away at the last second, but it hurt like a *****, had to shake it out for a solid minute or two while hoping we maintained possession. Was pretty sore yesterday, feeling better today, but I'll give it until Thursday before I try and lift again

Wrist was still bothering me yesterday so I skipped the gym. Didn't want to do anything to it before playing soccer, which I taped up and had it feel pretty good. Played my best game in weeks too.

Today, just did my tempo run. Did just under a mile at about a 9:00 pace, then did 2.46 miles in 18:03, a 7:20 pace. Felt pretty good, definitely working hard but should have enough left in reserve to push it faster on race day. My goal is sub 22 I've decided, that would be a 30 second PR compared to training.

Oh, and weighed 187 this morning

Skipped the gym again, giving my wrist a full week off. Did my long run though, 8.04 miles in 66:31. Perfect pacing, 33:15 for the first loop, 33:16 for the second one. Works out to 8:16 per mile.

Weighed 186.2 this morning. Have three soccer games tomorrow. First one I'm actually playing the field for the first time in god knows how long, we'll see how all this running translates into soccer shape. Last two in goal.

Today:

Press: 4x125, 2x5x125
Squat: 3x5x245

Back in the gym. Felt heavy, especially the first set of the press where I didn't even attempt a fifth rep. Definitely maxed out on the press, pretty close on the squat. Wrist felt pretty good, managed to go all last week without tweaking it.

Weighed 186.8 this morning. Was under 185 the last two days couldn't pull it off three days in a row, must have been slightly better hydrated this morning without a long run or three games of soccer the day before. Also had my first physical in a while this afternoon, was told I'm in very good health, although he does not approve of ephedrine and caffeine.

Will get my sprints in later tonight unless it starts pouring out again

Solid long run bro, probably too fast. But since you don't run major mileage, probably okay.
