So my chest cold decided to say **** you, I’m back and kicked my ass all of last week. Wasn’t until the weekend that I started to have a bit more energy. But got in, got a lift today. Definitely low on energy and strength. Weighed in at 202.2 this morning after not eating a whole lot early last week

Tried to lift today, but my right hamstring started cramping up in the middle of my last bench set. Got through two reps the first time I tried it and then three reps the second attempt at repping out, so I just shut it down and will retry later. Weird

No issues cramping. Definitely have gotten weaker in the bench, was heavy. Weighed in at 200 on the dot today though, so diet has been on point since I've been sick.

So the bad news is the squat felt like ****. Heavy, slow, grindy, just the worst. Press felt good though, surprisingly, as that’s usually my first lift to fall off. Good news is I weighed in at 198.8 today, second morning in a row under 200 and I think the first time in over a year. Diet’s been good, been running more regularly. Stick coughing up the occasional bit of phlegm, but mostly feel back to normal

Guess missing workouts and losing weight is a bad combo. Did a back off set in the bench just because. Deadlift felt very slow, and even after chalking up my grip never felt great. Forgot to weigh myself this morning, but been bouncing around 196-197 most of the week

Bench felt way better. Deadlift felt bad even though I grinded out a fifth rep. Not a lot of faith in my form atm

Weighed 198.2 today, not too sure about the accuracy of my scale though. It’s been bouncing around a six or seven pound range and then giving me an error every time I step on it, and then I have to step on it a second time to get an actual reading. So time for a new scale to see if that’s at all right

Lifted on Saturday. Think I did six reps of each? Not 100% sure.

Today:

Bench: 5x195
Deadlift: 4x415

Bench felt OK. Think I might do it once more to see if I can get a sixth rep before adding five more pounds. Deadlift felt better, but I could feel my form start to go as I started the fifth rep, so I dropped it. Might be time to reset there.

Also bought a new scale. Sadly, it’s reading four to five pounds higher than my old scale, so I’m back over 200. 202.4 this morning

Been slacking this week, but got a lift in after a couple soccer games this afternoon. Felt quick solid if I do say so. Last press rep was a grind, squat might have had one in the tank.

Diet’s been bad, no progress made this week. Might have gained a pound

Sprained my toe on Sunday and was limping around pretty good Monday and Tuesday , so took it easy and did nothing through Weds. Feeling better today, maybe 80%. Bench sucked though, going to reset it. Did the deadlift reset today because I didn’t like my form. Felt better

The good news is these felt real good. Got a 7th rep of the press to my forehead but couldn’t get past the sticking point, and almost assuredly had another rep in the tank for the squat. Bad news is it’s probably because I’ve been binge eating like I’ve been possessed by the ghost of YTF the last few days, so sliding backwards on the weight loss. Didn’t even bother to weigh myself today. But I’m rededicating myself today to eating better and getting lifts in, so let’s go

Leg started cramping up towards the end of the bench set, lost a bit. Played soccer right before I lifted and get peppered in goal, so makes sense. Deadlift felt solid again. Weighed 205.2 this morning

Sprained my ankle on Weds night. A rare nongoalkeeping injury as it happened a minute into a game I was playing in the field, after which I shook it off and then proceeded to finish that game and then play two more games in a row in goal after that. Swelled up pretty good that night though and was really stiff the next morning, but seems to be feeling way better today, albeit it's looking pretty black and blue. Took it easy on the deadlift though, although more because my knee was still sore and not because of the ankle. Usually my knee doesn't get bothered by deadlifting, so a little bit worrying.

Ordered a barbell a few weeks after the gyms shut down, finally got it last week. Weights cost a million dollars to ship though and obviously craigslist is wiped out, so went ahead and bought some concrete, started pouring some plates, and then made a couple of squat stands out of buckets and 2x4s and a cabinet out of plywood that screws into the wall and has a platform that folds out from the wall. Ended up clamping the squat stands to my workbench because they were way too unstable, but it’s a pretty solid setup for a one-bedroom apartment with limited space. Still need to make more plates over the next few days and slap some paint on it, but at least I beat the gyms reopening in upstate NY by a few weeks probably. Weird number because one plate weighed 35 pounds, one weighed 33, but that’s janky concrete plates I guess

That is some unreal WIM to put that all together.

I'd just rather be fat and weak than go through all that. I guess I should say fatter and weaker. I'm already fat and weak despite a pretty nice home gym that I barely have the WIM to use.

All weights are approximately. I've got six weights that are 35+/-2, a pair that add up to 35 that are like 17/18, and a pair that add up to 17 pounds that are 9/8. So definitely need to make some more smaller plates so that I can make small weight increases, and then probably one more set of 35s in the next few weeks since the deadlift will probably ramp up fairly quickly. Pretty fat at the moment though, somewhere in the 210s. Had to go up a hole or two on my belt from the last time I used it, not surprising.

Yeah I practically had to get down on my knees to be allowed to get a pull-up/dip station for my basement office, where only I ever go. That is insanely impressive but would be a big nope in my house.

So my knee pain in my right knee started flaring up again pretty badly at the end of last month. I pretty much did nothing from the beginning of lockdown to when I started posting in here again, hoping that all I needed was some rest, but it came back immediately once I started squatting and went for a few short runs. So I did a Zoom meeting with my doctor who thinks I've got patellar tendinitis, aka jumper's knee, and he put me on some anti-inflammatories and some more rest. Started feeling better, and so I looked up some exercises to hopefully help it along too. No running or lower body stuff for at least another few weeks though, I don't want it to come roaring back again.

No real flare ups from the knee. Did a little over a mile run yesterday for the first time in a while, feels pretty good. Deadlift felt great, zero knee pain. Obviously light, but solid. Benched at some point earlier this week, but forget what the specifics were.

Did some light benching. Thought about doing some light squatting after, but I could still feel a minor twinge at the bottom when warming up with an empty bar, so no need to push it just yet when everything else is feeling pretty good.
