I've taken a few days off as an old left ankle injury has really been bothering me. I didn't do anything acute to injure it. Ankle mobility exercises seem to just bother it more. Literally lame.

6.25.2011

Snatch to 115 with no misses. Very happy with that.
Three misses at 120. racked it twice and lost one forward and one behind.

Clean and jerk to 135. Jerk was slow and felt bad so I stopped there and worked a few at 135. I haven't clean and jerked nearly enough lately.

How do you feel about all the training equipment you bought a year or so ago? Would you do anything differently?

I'd do everything the same most likely.

I might get another set of green, yellow and blue plates rather than have sprung for the nicer Eleiko bar if I was restrained to the same budget or something. The plates quality are perfect as far as I can tell. I still can't really believe how relatively cheap Rogue and Pendlay are selling them for.

I'd probably get one of the Rogue racks with the pullup bar instead of the rack I have, or maybe the yoke rack combo. It's still the tallest freestanding rack I've seen though, which I need and appreciate. It's also rock solid.

The York (Burgener/Rip) bar spins better than I thought it would and would be fine as my only bar. I don't regret the Eleiko bar purchase, but it was unnecessary.

I've done poorly managing my weightlifting schedule. Seemingly every day I've been drinking (not much, but 1-2 beers) enough to prevent being able to train after.

I have a comp next weekend. Tried to work to openers (110/130?)

Snatch to 100xfx2. Well that sucked. Right wrist hurt a lot on the catch so I dropped it twice. idk, I'm sure I can catch it in the comp. Maybe I'll open lower. More likely I'll try this again tomorrow or Sunday.

CJ to 130. Slow on 130, but that should be an ok opener. Left wrist hurt after this. My body is not in olympic weightlifting shape. Meh.

All in all just not enough drilling on form and at these weights.

After the comp I'm likely to go back to my weekend warrior inspired W/Sa/Su schedule. I stick to that better. Something like.

One of Tu, W or Th: Power Snatch or power clean, Vol Squat
Fri or Sa: Full lifts
Su: Heavy squats, press, KB cardiotard

I just pretty much assumed lifting with alcohol in your system at a highland games was pretty much a requirement of the competition...

Had a meet at my old CF gym. There was some nice competition in my 94/105/105+ session.

snatch ‎110x/110x/110 (meet PR)
105 was easy in warmups, I just psyched myself out on the platform for some reason. Oh well, at least I hit one where it mattered.

clean and jerk 130/135/142x
Just got back on my heels on the last clean.

245 total, 2nd place (1st place was 116/140/256)

The audience reaction when you nail the 110 is awesome. Jerks looked very solid.

Thanks to all. Yeah, audience was good though sparse by the end of the meet. It was a great group to lift with, very supportive. I think I knew 13 out of the 16 lifters in the session, so everyone was pretty much rooting for each other. Also, I've always cheered loudly for someone who misses their first two lifts and hits the third, it is a tough spot.

Yeah, I think it's a little better form, but more that I am choosing my attempts for clean and jerk more wisely. As I approach my max jerk I exhibit more of my old problems, and the experienced eye would see that my footwork still is pretty bad and requires the most attention. I would have had a hard time with 142. Actually I could have taken 147 to go for the win, but I didn't think I would have made it... that felt ****ty. I talked about the third attempt with my friend's (good) coach though and just went for the 142 and potential PR.

Thanks, good seeing you too. I'll hope to get out there to lift again sometime soon. Hope your knee continues to feel better.

Thanks.

A planned week off became two weeks off. My left wrist really hurt bad for a week after the meet, couldn't do pushups or press and forget about snatching or jerking. Then just about a week ago, and a week after the meet when my wrist felt better I slipped and slid down a few stairs and the same wrist hurt again afterward. More embarrassing than anything.

I also had a birthday and probably drank too much. Anyway, I have sobered and my wrist feels fine now so back to 3x/week hopefully. I will just work on loosening my wrists more and maybe throw in some reverse wrist curls here and there.

It was very hot in the garage. Not as death hot as yesterday or Wednesday would have been though.

Hang snatch triples
every 10 up to 90x3
These felt good and forced me to be fast. I was pretty tired by 90 from the heat and being a fat **** and out of shape.

Light snatch DLs (don't remember, not more than 110 I think x 3-5)

Front squats
light
110x5
130x5

Power snatch
90x1x5

Power clean + power push jerk
110x1x4 + 1 clean and no jerk
My right shoulder hurt a lot on the catch on the last clean.

Clean pulls
130x3x2 + 1 pull
Shoulder still hurt so I called it.

I don't know how to describe the pain. Hopefully as short lived and minor. Now that I've rested 10 mins it still hurts the same, so here comes the ice. I guess I'll be calling the chiro in the morning. Frustrating as this was very light and I don't think I did anything stupid.
