Plan was to go up to ~90% for both lifts.

Snatched up to 90 fine and then missed 100 twice. (Was planning on 105.) Left shoulder feels very bad, possible mild strain (though I have no idea what is actually wrong).

CJ up to 115 and then missed 125 twice because shoulder felt bad.

Iced shoulder and ate pizza.

Snatch
up to 90, missed 1st one and mid-back felt bad and hit 2 after that. Right shoulder felt horrible again. I think my middling snatch form has gotten much worse.
Dropped to 60 and did 5 reps starting from mid-thigh and very quick 3rd pull. Shoulder felt ok with 60.

Clean and Jerk
Wanted to work up to my opener.
80x5, 90x3, 100x1, 105x1, 110x1, 115x1, 120(pc+j)x1, 125x1, 130x1. No problems here today, although I can tell my squat is a little weaker. Felt relatively good though.

WTF you're missing at 90? Can't you just power snatch that? Or are you working on the 3rd pull?

My shoulder hurts on catches >80-85 or so, and in this case I caught it fine, it hurt and I dropped it. I don't know what to do. I think it's just a strain or something and will be fine, but I know nothing about shoulders so I don't know. If it still feels like this in 2 weeks (for a comp), I will probably not snatch heavy. We'll see.

i watched some of your other jerks and it seems like you might not be dipping as low now as on some of them in the past? can't really tell though.

Looks like you had the first one, just had some cave on the dip, shorthopped, and landed backfoot on your heel. Strong cleans though.

Eh, I think it's pretty similar.

Yeah my jerk footwork still sucks.

Up to 90, then 95xFx2. Just couldn't catch properly. Right shoulder felt really bad. I might stop snatching for a bit.

This sucks, because I am supposed to have a competition a week from Sat. I'll either withdraw if it feels really bad, or more likely just snatch light (~85-90?) and do normal clean and jerks.

Light cleans still bothered my shoulder, so decided to just deadlift.

Clean Deadlift
95x5
140x3
170x2
190
205
220 (this was probably more of a conventional deadlift)
240xF - it moved off of the ground at least, though barely

Performed with a clean starting position, no upper back rounding etc.

Bodyweight still hovering around 276-279. I will probably go on a diet down to around 250 after this meet. I just feel/am kinda fat. Although being strong is badass, I feel better overall at 250.

I took a few days off to heal my shoulder before a meet next Saturday. Even though I'm not sure this was the right approach, it seems to have worked.

4 days to comp
Snatch
90, 100(power), 105, 110, 2 misses at 116 (extremely close on last attempt). Right shoulder felt fine.

I will probably be conservative and open at 100 since my meet form usually sucks. I would like to open at 105 though, I don't know at this point. I'm not going to plan past lift one on snatch.

My practice form also looks pretty meh according to video, but I felt fresh, and it felt good to work up to 110 with no misses, considering I missed at 90 less than 2 weeks ago.

Clean and Jerk
legs felt tired at 130 so stopped there. I will probably open with 130 and try 130-136-142, maybe 135-140-145 if I am feeling frisky.
Tried to jerk 145 out of the rack once. Missed, but was very close.

I have video of the snatches and of the missed jerk, but my Internet connection sucks a **** and is being repaired on Friday, so I might not be able to upload it. I'll see if it works here in a second.

Competition (Sat 11.6.2010)

Snatch
105/112x/116x

Clean and Jerk
135/140x/140x

Felt good in warmups so did my planned 2nd attempts as my openers.

Both snatch misses were very close.

Smoked 130 in the training area so bumped my cj opener to 135 and had an easy clean and pressed out the jerk (very close though and got 2/3 white lights) and struggled to stabilize it for the same reason. On the second two cleans, the bar just slid down my shoulders and upper arms, which has never happened to me before and sucked. I will have to wear a t-shirt under my singlet next time.

Overall I was happy with the result, as I was able to be more aggressive with my openers than previously and my snatch form was better, if not good and I was very close on my snatch misses. There is video floating around somewhere, but I'm not sure of all the lifts. I'll put it up here if I can find it.

Got 2nd place in +105. 1st place totaled about 120 more than me, so it was pretty close.

Thanks.

The guy who beat me did 155/205. Pretty cool to watch imo.

Video of my lifts:

(still processing at time of post)

Notes on video:
As mentioned, openers were my planned 2nd attempts because warmups went well.
I didn't realize I power snatched the 105 snatch opener. That makes me feel good about my strength, and bad about my form.
Both my 3rd attempts are better than both 2nd attempts.
I don't know what's up with my uneven snatch pull, I hadn't seen that before.
Part of the problem with the 2nd clean (1st miss) is that I pull it too far away from my body, though this is hard to see in the video.

Looks like the uneven pull could be you favoring the shoulder either during the pull or in anticipation of the catch. It could be the camera angle but the bar doesn't appear to be centered (the bar appears to shift to the left, your right, just before this screenshot) and your right heel starts coming off the ground before your left heel (I think).

Everything looked fine up until the second pull though.

Nice job overall, impressive power.

You know, I was looking at other lifters from video from this camera and the bar looks crooked like this as well (including the guy with good form who did 155 snatch), so I'm not convinced 100% it isn't just the camera angle.
