Life with front loading side by side is one of the few areas short people start with an advantage. Don't depress loco by telling him in America we can elevate our laundry machines.
I'm buying a house next month. It is old and covered with asbestos. The laundry machines are from the 70s. The garage has space for both a snowblower and a rack. Come by sometime to advise on construction. I have (American) beer. None of this wild fermented stuff with unknown organisms in it.
Kids can start laundry at about 3.50 years old ±350.
Nice congrats on house! I'm actually super super into homebuilding and how to insulate/seal/etc at the moment, so you asked the right person... maybe. Best part is that I am not a contractor or selling anything. I had a friend who was super helpful when I was planning, so I am happy to pass along what I have learned and I can point you in the right direction or at min give you stuff to read (I'm partial to greenbuildingadvisor.com and finehomebuilding.com , both have good advice both for rehab and new building), shoot me a pm or text I will stop by if we can find a time.

Felt mostly relief when I realised you only had two, combined with some disappointment that I now didn't know anyone with a laundry room kink.
I can't go into kink details in a public forum, but I do like a good german washing machine dryer combo! Buying two sets of these (sfw appliance porn):
