I got out of it on the advice of a non-surgical sports doc, who did see athletes, knew about lifting, etc. Around the time of this vid I couldn't do all my back squats iirc... back hurt too much, recurrent injury, etc. I did like 108 (116x or something idk)/147 at a meet that fall, then effectively quit.

I was/am on the border for surgery for an l5/s1 herniation, but I can live with the symptoms for the most part so I don't want it (Sx). pt/ART/etc didn't help or helped somewhat but couldn't get me all the way to full functionality, but I do have to stay active so I just work around it. I've done McGill exercises, air squats to wall, kb squats, kb w/ heartbeat, hip/hinge alignment, etc for all warming up for a long time. Anytime I fs/bs for a long time (more than a couple of weeks even), I end up in more pain than any benefit (I think). prob trap bar / limited rom rack pull 4 lyfe. Idk.

I love wl tho and I'm likely to try it again sometime or at least include power snatches/power cleans long term.

Before you wrote this, I was thinking of doing some high hip hang/hang power/hang snatch complex today just to move. I may still do so. The end.

tl;dr: injury

Triples are a good idea for me - can stay very tight, keep everything in line, etc. Let's see how my back feels. (Always feels good during workout, sometimes. Maybe.)

So I'm guessing the main difference doing power from the hang compared to full from the floor is that your back stays a lot more upright during the entire movement, you use less back strength overall, and you are forced to move less weight?

Does your back hurt when doing light weights for things like the squat? When I say light weights I mean, very light weights, not DT light weights.

Idk. Power snatches are impossible to **** up from the hang - my opinion. If I was gonna retain one movement it'd be power snatch, hang or from blocks, I think. Hard to f up. Obv you are using less weight for a complex with 6 reps. I am not a sport scientist. Or any type of scientist, actually.

Got to gym before heading up to MIL for the day with some friends to see Giannis and the Bucks beat the Mavs. Fun time. Cliffs: Greek Freak is good at basketball. Bucks' new stadium is nice. I almost always have fun when I hang out in Milwaukee, rare though it is. I like it there. The end.

gonna log - I don't have a clear plan other than push, pull, do some light wl, hang out, make jokes, say k

idk bodyweight guessing 265 or so, maybe 260 - basically same bw last few months, marginally worse body comp - still just generic "giant" body-type. No weight goals other than hover around 260 and maybe lose a few lbs by being more active, maybe drink a few less BA stouts, but I won't go full KC and quit altogether bc lambic.

Perhaps you could have waited outside the sauna wearing your hookgrip shirt until they left the sauna, making sure they got a good look at it before leaving.

Yugo there were just gloves no person! And I was wearing a hookgrip shirt! 90% of my gym t-shirts are hg. Brand fatassidor imo. Basassidor? Ambassador? Last week I thought for sure some dude in a Rogue shirt was gonna try to talk to me, but luckily I am very unapproachable looking.

Sauna questions:

talking yes/no?
in full glory or a towel around?

From the lifting gloves comment it seems like you're the type that prefers to shut up and sit there.

Sauna answers:

It's not that I am against talking, it's that I am against talking about stuff that randoms talk about in the sauna.

It's a co-ed dry sauna and USA puritan laws require clothing, this is not sweden there are rules. There's a steam room / wet sauna in the locker room, but I am afraid of it for various reasons. Main reason is mildew. K.

Wait what, you are required by law to wear clothing inside a mixed sauna?!

LOL USA#23

In Belgium it says you are not allowed any clothing inside because it's disgusting, but 90% hides under a towel.

In Chiner it's all separate. In the men spa's there's about 100 naked Chinese dudes squatting and smoking in and around the water. Had some old grandpa give me a good bodyscrub last week and finish it off with a milk, salt and honey. $15 for 24 hours - good stuff

still just accumulating volume, light weight, short rests, etc. All in all I think this will be a good plan for my back, and I enjoy wl so I'll do some sort of wl/pl hybrid, just following some supertotal stuff I stole (free tho) off the internet and tweaked for myself at this point, not sure if I'll follow that or something else.

I think the back extensions or some combo of that and hbbs and light snatches ****ed my back (for the 40th time). Instead of rehabbing I have been floor beering. And I got a bad cold. And I got some stomach thing. I am better now tho. I just need to program TBDL or rack pulls, unilateral lower body, light KB **** and call it a day. Idk.

Is it acceptable when floor beering to then pass out on the floor? Apparently sleeping on the floor is good for your back!

No shiet Sherlock, thats what I do and feel great.

And it was definitely the loaded buttwinking from squats and snatches, and not back extensions.
