I typically skip lunch 1-2x/week, and yesterday the confluence of skipping lunch (took my son to optho, eye looks good!), otherwise being inactive leaving me not hungry at the end of the afternoon, and thinking of trying a fast (just general interest in some of the cell and animal research on fasting, stuff like Rhonda Patrick's blog, etc).

I don't see any downside since I'm otherwise healthy, so I'm trying it.

I last ate at about 6pm Sunday.
Mon 8am: 267.0 lbs
Mon: Drank coffee, drank a lot of water, had a piece of gum early in the day (5kcals) and a fiber pill at night (10kcals).
Mon 8pm: ~5 mile walk
Mon 11pm: I looked and I had ACV so per shamrock, I put a couple of tablespoons in some water and drank it. Immediately felt dumb, but no other side affects that I could tell.

Tue 8am: 262.3lbs (c ya glycogen)
Tue 9:30am: Didn't get hungry yet.

Tue 12pm: gym

sauna (15 min, usually in the sauna I'm ~100-120bpm, I noticed a couple of spikes to 140 bpm today so I watched carefully, and didn't get higher than 120 for the most part... idk that I'd advise sauna during fasting though, prob a bad idea! I didn't feel dizzy, but I won't do this again... probably.)

mcgill + extra core stuff
shoulder PT exercises
light press

Tue 1:30pm: I feel a little nauseous (2/10) but not hungry. When I'm busy I feel totally normal. When I sit and think about feeling bad, I feel bad. If I look closer at the feeling (meditation woowoo talk!) then it again doesn't feel bad. Anyway, obv if I feel any worse I'll just eat. Afaict I am still alive though.

I already eat all those food groups. Actually, sweets are not historically a problem for me for whatever reason, with the exception of these cookies: http://carolscookies.com/our-cookies , popular for wealthy banker types to send around the holidays. Very tasty! Anyway, there were cookies at a meeting today. Totally unappetizing looking. I'm also anti-meetings, so it could have been that as well. k.

@Rexx, I'm literally not eating!

Tue evening went fine... I had some right lower back pain (where I usually can locate some discomfort), but I haven't been hungry the whole time. At most maybe 2/10... interesting.

Wed 7am (~62 hours fast): bw 257.9

I slept better. Still not hungry. I feel a little slow today. Well, slower than usual. I may have lunch or dinner if I feel slow getting my work done today, we'll see.

Sauna is not recommended for fasting. But sauna is highly recommended for cleansing.

I need to cleanse my mind of all the people who were in the sauna yesterday
-person lying down flat, completed covered with towels, doing crunches
-person who came in for ~45 seconds to do lunges
-person doing what unfortunately sounded like max effort quarter squats

Anyway, my stomach became ****ed this morning (****s), then I checked out the construction site (building a house, just started), then I was hungry so I was like **** this and I went and got some salad+shwarma+assorted veggies, parsely, etc on it. It was good. The end.

Summary:
67 hour fast
Felt fine until this morning ~hour 62
Didn't get hungry until hour 67, so I got food.

I don't expect that anything magical happened.

So, I actually caught a virus toward the end of the fast (or I had it before/during, and not eating mitigated the effects), and I guess that's what made me sick, not the fasting. Anyway, it felt not so great to lose another few lbs of water weight when I was already pretty depleted. Felt bad, do not recommend, 0/10.

I'll spend the rest of the weekend birthday "bulking" for recovery. Really just trying to rest tho. K.

Pretty weird week overall though, first the fasting, then I had a terrible stomach illness, which contrary to my initial thought, wasn't due to the fasting, as others in the house had it too - I am guessing the fasting didn't make it better or worse, maybe just delayed it, if anything. Idk. Anyway, I felt better for the weekend and my birthday and I drank beer. The end.

I didn't feel like going to gym, but I went anyway. This is almost always a good decision!

Still spending 20-30 mins on warmups, mcgill stuff, ROM/PT exercises every session. I think it's worth it.

Last night I spend a few hours trying to rebuild a ****ty RAID array in my house (unrepentant data hoarder) so I was all hunched over and then I slept poorly or rather I just went to bed way later than usual. So this probably exacerbated my shoulder thing. Idk. I thought it was getting better. It doesn't affect daily life at all, otherwise dr. K.
