Re: Doug's Ultimate G-Flux Log

dl - looks pretty good. hips rising slightly before the bar so your setup might be a tad off, but nothing major. can play around with it if you want.

squats - probably some minor stuff to quibble about, but they only thing that caught my eye is you have a little bit of knee cave on each rep, more noticeable as the set progresses. Knees out!

Re: Doug's Ultimate G-Flux Log

9-25

Powercleans- 88x3, 110x3, 132x2, 154x1, 164x4x3 - 4th set
Bench- 45x5x2, 135x5, 155x3, 175x2, 190x5x3
Squat- 45x5x2, 154x5, 198x3, 242x2, 286x1, 306x4

Powercleans were just ok, they didn't feel crisp and the catch was awkward. Bench was pretty challenging and the last rep was verrry slow. Was pretty tired by the time I got to squats so didn't bother trying 296x5x3. 306x4 wasn't too bad though.

On another note I still weigh ~160, sometimes coming in as low as 158. I've been ridiculously anorexic recently, for instance today I had a protein shake, some raisins, and handful of prunes, and another shake post workout. W/e don't care as long as my lifts keep going up. It seems like the key for me is to sleep a lot and only lift every 3-4 days. Hopefully I can get to 2xBW squat for 5x3 before I need to eat more.

Do you eat a lot of prunes? I lurve them. People view me as some geriatric freak because of this.

Re: Doug's Ultimate G-Flux Log

For fruits I pretty much only eat grapefruits and dried fruits. Grapefruits because I love them, and dried fruits because they're all pretty tasty, take forever to go bad and are cheap. Prunes also go well with a high protein/fat diet.

I don't understand why you have to be old to thoroughly enjoy taking a nice big dump.

Re: Doug's Ultimate G-Flux Log

9-29

Squats- 45x5x2, 135x5, 185x4, 225x3, 265x2, 295x1, 305x5, 4, 3
Push Press- 45x3, 95x3, 135x3, 155x3, 3, 2
Deadlift- 154x3, 242x3, 286x2, 308x1, 328x3

The good half of the gym was closed today so a bunch of JV soccer players could bench 95lbs. I was relegated to lifting with the mouth breathers and cardio-tards. After asking a guy to watch it cause he was standing too close to where I was squatting, I had to nicely tell him "seriously get the **** out of my way." First set of squats felt great but I was dead after that. Probably could've made the last set of push presses but didn't want to push it because failing would've literally ended the life of the tiny Chinese girl doing tricep kickbacks 8 inches from my right side. She should've been squatting; her ass was way too flat. By the time I got to deadlifts my back was flaccid. Depending on if I feel up to it I might powerclean and bench on Friday, then squat on Saturday.

Dunno. I really can't during the week, so it would have to be on a weekend. Probably once I get back on the Texas Method in a couple weeks or so.

Re: Doug's Ultimate G-Flux Log

10-1

Powercleans- 88x3, 110x3, 152x2, 172x1, 176x1, 176xf, 176x1

I haven't been eating/sleeping to well the last 3 days. Back and legs were still sore but I thought I felt good enough to do a couple heavy singles. Mistake. Gonna wait till Sunday to Squat/ Bench/ do some more powercleans.

Re: Doug's Ultimate G-Flux Log

I'm kinda shocked you failed a PC at 176. Were the other ones at 176 very hard, too, or was it a fluke?

EDIT: Lol just saw the extenuating circumstances. NVM.

Re: Doug's Ultimate G-Flux Log

The fail was kind of a fluke, when I'm not focused my form goes to **** and I use my arms too much. That said, I need to do a lot more reps in the 154-164 range before my working sets will get to 176. I think in my life I've done fewer than 50 powercleans at 154+, so I'm still extremely new to them.

Re: Doug's Ultimate G-Flux Log

8-3

Squats- 45x5x2, 154x5, 198x4, 242x3, 286x2, 309x4x3
Bench- 45x5x2, 135x5, 155x3, 175x2, 185x1, 195x5, 4, 3
Hang Power Cleans- 88x3, 110x3, 132x2x5

Low WIM today. Could've made 5 reps on any of the squat sets judging from the video, which I'll get up later tonight. Bench was ok, surprisingly I was weak in the lockout. Did some light hang power cleans to work on my second pull, which has been getting bad recently. Gonna try to push through this before starting TM in a week or so, hopefully I'll have made 315x5x3 squat and 195x5x3 bench by then.

Bodyweight was 158 this morning.

Some pretty rough knee cave going on in some of the reps. Need to keep my eye on that.

Re: Doug's Ultimate G-Flux Log

10-6

Squats- 45x5x2, 135x5, 185x4, 225x3, 265x2, 295x1, 305x1, 315x4
Push Press- 88x3, 110x3, 132x2, 132x1, 152x1, 162x2, 167x2, 172x1 (1xf)
DL- 242x3, 286x3, 331x5, 375x1

Ok workout. Was nice to rep 315, but I think I should be good for 5 if I can be 100% going into the gym. Did some heavier push presses as I really didn't want to do triples. DL was ok, did a heavier rep just to make sure I could.

Vid of squats to come.

Re: Doug's Ultimate G-Flux Log

10-9

Starting the Texas method. Today was Volume Lower

Box Squat just at parallel- 45x5x2, 135x5, 185x4, 225x3, 255x2, 275x4x4
Snatch Grip deficit RDL- 154x5, 242x5x3
Calf Raises
Hanging Leg Raises
Planks

Pretty poor performance overall.

Re: Doug's Ultimate G-Flux Log

how often have you done box squats? They're pretty tricky. I'm still getting used to them. you're not just touching the box and going. you're supposed to relax the hips and then drive up. chainz help.

i think your DL 1RM is currently better than mine, and you weigh like a buck 20.

Obv you know what you are doing, but why are you doing box squats and snatch grip deficit RDL... instead of just squat and DL. Why the FPS?

Re: Doug's Ultimate G-Flux Log

KC- DL 1rm is 410 ish. Pulled 375 a couple days ago after a 5rm and wasn't too difficult. I *think* I know what I'm doing for box squats- sit back, try to keep shins vertical, knees out, 2 count on the box, use hamstrings/glutes to initiate the upward motion. Whether this is actually what happens when I do them is another story.

HS- When I'm using a Texas Method template I prefer to use box squat/ paused bench on volume days and then only bench/squat on max effort days. It's worked well in the past since I always have the same sticking points (right above parallel in the squat and 2 inches off my chest in the bench). Also box squat is a little easier on my knees/ankles which are lol bad.

And when I made this log I had hoped to be doing 4 lifting days + 3 light cardio/ metcon days a week. Then I realized I'm not Jaysick. So yeah the name doesn't really apply. If anything it should be called "Doug's Ultimate FPS and Refuse to Deload Log."
