Re: Doug's Ultimate G-Flux Log

5-25

Squat- 45x5x3, 135x5, 185x4, 225x3, 275x2, 295x1, 305x5, 310x5, 315x5, 320x4
Bench- 45x10x2, 135x5, 160x3, 185x2, 195x1, 205x5, 197x4
Dumbell Row (Myoreps) 100x10,3,3,3,3,3 each arm
Band Face Pulls- 12x3

Leaving for Indianapolis for 5 days and I'm not taking my belt/ shoes so I won't be squatting heavy for ~ 6 days. ****ed up the first rep on my last set of squats and got no bounce which took too much out of me to get 5 reps, but still a decent volume day. Should be enough to not lose any progress on the brief layoff. Was nowhere near recovered for bench, so just tried 205x5 which I think ties a 5 rep pr. Could probably do ~212 fresh. Will likely lift once in Indy, expecting to bench, rope climb, row, and maybe box squat.

Re: Doug's Ultimate G-Flux Log

Bonus: A missed snatch at 167. Closer than the 172 from a couple weeks back, but still too far in front.

I will probably try Smolov JR in july. What kind of accesory work can I do while doing the smolov JR? Pullups/Chinups/Rows are fine I assume. What about shoulder/tricep work? Abs/guns/traps shouldnt be a problem right?

Re: Doug's Ultimate G-Flux Log

Impressive squat!

I need to slow down some when squatting, and maybe I'll be able to crush a 2x bodyweight for more than 1rep.

Very nice work

Re: Doug's Ultimate G-Flux Log

Also tested my vertical on the kind of apparatus they use at the combines where you knock the flag out of the way. Didn't warmup first which probably hurt a bit but got 26.5 inches. I'd like to hit 30 some day but I feel like that's probably impossible?

why is 30 impossible for you? my impression is you do a tiny amount of jump training. first of all, you don't play a sport where you are sprinting or "jumping." second, you don't do jump training, or sprint training. third, i can't even remember you doign much speed squats.

Re: Doug's Ultimate G-Flux Log

I'm in Indianapolis for the weekend. AFAIK Tufts does not have anything for testing, although I'll check with the track team cause I'd like to retest after a proper warmup and some moderate powercleans.

Re: Doug's Ultimate G-Flux Log

Tanning is awesome in moderation. I'll probably do some today. What are your current thoughts on man-boobs?

6-4

Squat- 45x5x3, 135x5, 185x4, 225x3, 275x2, 315x1, 345x1, 365xf, 275x5x3xRage
Bench- 45x10x2, 135x5, 165x3
Paused Bench- 185x2, 205x1, 225x1, 235xf (sooo close)
Bench- 205x5, 205x4
Speed Deadlifts- 152x2 up to 240x2, prolly 10-12 total sets
Barbell Overhead Swiss Ball Situps- 45x10, 65x10, 75x10, 85x10
Band Face Pulls- 12x3
Hanging Leg Raises 12x3

Bad workout. No squat confidence right now. Need to sleep more. At least I was really close on bench; I can make that weight.

Re: Doug's Ultimate G-Flux Log

Hey Doug,
You posted in my log a few weeks back about my knee injury, which I think is a patellar subluxation. My knee is feeling much better, probably about 70%. Since you've dealt with this before, do you have any suggestions on how to deal with recovery? I haven't been squatting or DL since the injury and didn't plan on starting these for another week or two, depending on how the knee feels.

What weight do you think I should start with when I get back into squatting and DL? (My 5RM a few weeks ago were 175 and 185, respectively.)

Sorry to clog up your log; you can reply in my log or by PM if you want. Thanks again!

Re: Doug's Ultimate G-Flux Log

No problem.

I would start out light and give yourself 3-5 workouts to get back to where you were. Maybe go 95, 135, 155, 165, 175 on the squat or something like that. You can get more aggressive if the knee feels great after the first workout. In the mean time I'd recommend trying some air squats and seeing if the motion bothers the knee at all.

What a bench monkey! You would have got 235x1 paused if you skipped 225 imo. Nice work.

Re: Doug's Ultimate G-Flux Log

Probably. I think I've got 2-3 more bench workouts until the meet. I'd really like to go into it knowing that I can make 235 so that I can try for 210, 235, 245 or something like that. I was talking to a guy at the gym on Saturday who used to powerlift and he said a key for the smaller comps is to space out your attempts more than you normally would on your own, because in some situations there won't be anyone else lifting in between your attempts so you only get 90 seconds of rest.

Re: Doug's Ultimate G-Flux Log

6-7

Squat- 45x5x2, 135x5, 185x5, 225x3, 275x2, 315x1, 325x5, 330x5, 315x5

5th rep of the 330x5 was the hardest of my life. 315x5 after was a relative breeze. Will bench and DL tomorrow. I still need to get a handle on what to expect from my deadlift for the meet.

I also plan to DL tomorrow, though I haven't decided if I'm pulling heavy singles or just my standard routine. Let me know if you wanna lift and I'll see if it works time-wise.

Yeah that's cool. Were you thinking Tufts or your gym? Tufts closes at 8:30 during the summers =/. I get home at 4:30 so its no issue for me, but is for just about everyone else.

Re: Doug's Ultimate G-Flux Log

I was thinking tufts, since Fall River is way out of your way. I can get there between 6:30-7 depending on traffic if that's cool. And I'm assuming you can get me into the gym.
