In all likelihood this is going to turn into a full weight loss blog (and possibly lifting). For now, I'm planning on making some positive changes beginning tomorrow and tracking three things: Fast food, alcohol, exercise.

I assume I'll expand on all things over time.

I've just been waiting around to get motivated again. I get my boy at the end of June so I'm trying to use that as a soft impetus. I wanted to get a girl last time and that worked like a charm. Mainly I want to get some weight down and then start playing ball again hardcore.

I know exactly what to do and how to do it re: dropping weight. Thankfully all my prayers were answered in terms of cravings and things of that nature. I haven't had an urge to overeat for years, I don't like the feeling of being "stuffed." If I drastically reduce liquid calories and don't eat out the weight is going to fly off.

That didn't come out right.

I'm assuming your wife is having a baby? Congratulations if so. It should definitely be an impetus to lose weight/get healthy. Cutting down on alcohol and reducing eating out will also save some money which will come in handy

Nope, I have my son during summers.

I usually get him one week after he's out of school. She moved away, long story ldo. She's 8 hours away, I had him 50/50 despite that until he hit school age.

We swapped him every two months until then.

No need to apologize. Appreciate the encouragement.

Thanks bro.

I'm really happy I started this thread. I have an addictive personality and I think this is the first step in a very positive way for me to harness that. I've just been reluctant to do so because I know what's to come - a lack of everything I'm going to be leaving behind.

Goodbye getting buzzed. It's all or nothing with this guy.

Appreciate the patience.

So the switch flipped Tuesday of the week prior (May 9th). Been sub 2000 calories everyday and 1400 or below the last 3 days. Only two days have been in the 1800-2000 range (and that includes a day that was 1100 calories in wine).

I'm in the mode where I don't care if I'm hungry, I just look at it as a sore back but in the front. I don't really get much hungrier once I'm there, just a low ache ftmp. Haven't had a drop since two beers last Sunday, no real desire so that's nice. I've only drank those two occasions after being nearly a daily drinker.

Now it's just a matter of letting the days in deficit pile up, they're going to pass either way.

Dodger,

That's awesome! Well not about the hunger, maybe increase your protein and veg to try and combat that (I know you already know this) Do you have an exercise regime planned as well or just concentrating on the diet atm?

I'm looking to drop 20 or 30 more and then start playing ball and the rest will melt. I've got enough stuff around here to increase my activity beyond the modifier that I'll continue to use, better to underestimate TDEE.

The thing I'm happiest about is after I drank, the only thing I really felt was fixation on how it so wasn't worth the calories. That was afterwards, obviously, but it was also in the moment.

This week plus was all about establishing the right habits again. Tomorrow I'm going to kick my ass working around the property, after I get all the manual labor I need done around here - I'll start incorporating body weight exercises and cardio.

No FF is one of my tenets ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I broke an addiction to food when I dropped weight in '08 and '09. This has all been a manifestation/coping mechanism of depression and anxiety with the alcohol (which has been the root of things this go around along with being sedentary).

I've been eating FF previously but that was just due to indifference or self-sabotage or whatever. I basically can't overeat/gorge anymore, I don't like feeling stuffed.

I wish you lived closer I'd get you to come help me with my garden. The state it's in it would definitely kick your butt!

So today is very bad. First day along the way that's a blip, this will happen over the course of multiple months though.

I had some bacon going bad and quasi drunkenly made a grilled cheese at around 1:00a last night. Definitely wasn't worth the calories expended. I've got the grilled cheese coming in at 820, but I'm prbly being kind to myself and ranges from 900 on. Was two pieces of whole wheat bread, I'm guessing 1.5tb of butter, two slices of american, the equivalent in jack, and five or six pieces of thin bacon that shriveled to nothing.

I'll log as 900. May be less in reality.

So from there, bad decisions and rationalizations stack. I also had one glass of chocolate milk and a homemade almond cookie after. That's 160 + 65 (calc'ing high) so 225.

1125* before I woke up, definitely not the norm. So again, from there I said we'll run a refeed day. Had one McChicken and a free med fry per the McD app. 350 in the McChicken plus 340 for the med fries so 690.

900+225+690= 1815. I then had my customary bottle of wine on a Saturday so that's another 1230 plus one more rockstar at 200 so 1430 plus 1815 equals 3245.

We'll see if that's the end of the night, gonna see my girl here later. I'm okay with this one to two times a month.

*Forgot half of the Rockstar finished. Add 100 so 3345.

Took a lot for me to log that, honestly.

I'm embarrassed by my inadequacy.

What kind of wine are you drinking that's 1230 calories per bottle?

I think you did well logging when you had a bad day. It will help keeping you accountable. It's easy to log when you're doing well.
