FDA warns consumers not to use Vigor-25
Marketed as a ’male sexual stimulant,’ product contains hidden drug ingredient

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says Vigor-25, a product marketed as a natural dietary supplement to enhance male sexual performance, should not be purchased or used because it contains sildenafil, the active ingredient in the prescription drug Viagra.

Pro tip: Subscribing to the FDA alerts mailing list is educational and entertaining.

Uh... doesn't that mean you should buy it?
12-20-2010 , 03:40 PM
It's like the supplements the FDA found that had real anabolic steroids in them.
12-20-2010 , 03:41 PM
That's pretty much what I was thinking, yes.

Are you guys ready for a huge surge of logs next month? Im sure the average life span of which will be ~3 weeks.

Also, I slowly started re-introducing a moderate amount of carbs back into my diet (as I read was recommended after 2 weeks of little/no carbs) and it hasn't slowed any weight loss momentum down which is good.
12-20-2010 , 04:11 PM
I would speculate that resolutions made and started on December 20th have a far higher success % than those started on Jan 1.
12-20-2010 , 04:13 PM
In retrospect, I'm happy I cut the 40+ pounds before Christmas / New Years', so I don't have to make a silly resolution. I wonder how much more weight I want to lose before the baseball season starts. I should probably start thinking about programming, nutrition, and the like.

Man, it was easy to just blow off programming and everything when I was on Smolov Jr. and not eating for days - with no sport to train for. Now I have to consider all this stuff...
12-20-2010 , 04:17 PM
kyleb, please incorporate stick-n-pucks into your programming
12-20-2010 , 04:17 PM
Yeah I was actually going to mention that.

I have been taking last month (a little) and this month (a lot) to really try and force myself into good eating habits, a good rhythm for lifting, faithfully supplementing, stocking up on protein, and stuff like that.

I def feel like if I can get into a good groove of that kind of stuff, it's really easy to start the new year basically where I want to be anyway.

On another note:

I ate sugar at my party last night (a brownie oh noes!) and had a couple beers (1st time this month I've had any beer) and a jager-sugar free red bull.

I obv puked and felt much better, though I am dissapoint if I puked that easily.

I started as a January lifter, and stuck with it... so :P

The Unknown and the Unknowable

There are some training programs out there which I won't name such as Crossfit which claim to prepare you for the unknown and unknowable. That's ********, their WODs have never included a live animal, poison or any of the dramatic arts. With Danger WOD we prepare for the unknown and unknowable by constantly having no idea what we are doing. Today's WOD is multiple choice, pick one and go with it. Will it help you become more fit? Maybe. I pretty much guarantee that every WOD will make you stronger in the sense of "that which does not kill you makes you stronger" school of thought and at the very least will be a pretty good story to tell your illegitimate children when they visit you in prison.

Option A)

You are The One.

Also, I don't think I have any new years resolutions... they're dumb anyway... Actually, I hate this idea that people have to wait to some arbitrary day to do something they should do anyway...

Also, now that I'm doing 5/3/1 Jim says:

You won't make New Year's resolutions because you will be living it every day.

I'm interpreting that as a directive.

Agree with Snitch, NY resolutions are for fatties who quit after a month. Do or do not.

I'm pretty sure he meant it as one. And we have to obey our master.

On the same topic, I discovered I set my squat max at 5 kgs over my max for week 1 (never tested my 1RM so extrapolating), at my max for week 2 and somewhere in the middle for week 3. Well done, considering the only thing I need to do is fill in one cell with my 1RM.

Did back extensions for the first time today. To make a long story shorter everything went ok, felt a pretty good workout in the lower back, glutes and hams as expected and then BOOM, a couple minutes after I finished my whole lower back seized up and I literally could not move. I literally had to lay down as I could not stand or sit.

I am guessing this cannot be good but I do not really have a good idea how bad it is. Anyone have any experience with something like this before? Does this mean I am doing something wrong, or just a consequence of doing something my body is completely untrained at?

While we're all talking about me....

I'm considering what to do for assistance for my next round of 5/3/1.

I've decided I want to add push-press and incline press because one day I want to press 220 and I think these will help.

However, I don't really want to ditch any of my other upper body assistance lifts... although I guess I could be convinced to drop db bench.

So I'm thinking of doing this for the next 4 weeks, sound good?

Monday
- press
- pushpress
- chins
- dips

Tuesday
- deadlift
- sldl
- leg press

Thursday
- bench
- incline press
- db bench
- db row

Friday
- squat
- front squat
- back raise

I once made a new years resolution that I would drink less than 200 liters of diet coke during the next year. I said **** it when I on January 5 had drank 22 liters. I estimated that I drank 700 liters or so that year...

I think I cook once a month. It helps that my housemates cook a lot.

I rubbed two MASSIVE hunks of beef (like, they were MASSIVE. Over an inch and prob 30oz) with random seasoning, marinated for about half an hour in half a cup of oil and a few tbl spoons of soy. Pan seared for a few minutes each side. In the oven for like half an hour. Quite tasty.
