Does anyone take or recommend anything that specifically targets optimizing brain function? I guess just a normal overall daily vitamin would be beneficial but wondering if anyone takes anything that they think helps them with poker and decision making etc.. I assume this is the correct area for the question but please move if not.

Thanks.

Exercise + well balanced diet.

Supplements fake. Some drugs good but risky unless tons of long term research. Modafinil and adderral come to mind but i stay away, far away. All natty almost always best.

Most will tell you pills are a waste of money, little bang for buck. To get anything even worth taking you have to do a lot of research and even then you don't know if you're buying actual, optimal nutrition...

And it costs money for anything remotely quality that you might as well just learn how to cook delicious but healthy meals w the same money and you get more nutrition than a pill will give you

I would say instead of taking pills of any kind, consider the foods that do the same thing the pills would. Considering fish oil? Just search for tuna or some other **** until you find something that tastes good. Healthier balance of omega 3s relative to omega 6s is just better for your entire body and its function in general

Get some sun 15-30 mins per day for vitamin D. Good for immune system and skin. If you look good, you feel good. If you feel good, you play good. If you play good, you get paid good. I think Deion Sanders said that once, I dunno...

I don't play much poker anymore but what I used to do was go to the gym right after my first session of the day

So if that session was terrible or great, my mind was reset after a nice healthy workout. Roots out the negativity, keeps you focused rather than too high on the upswings and "keeps your memory short"

If you are physically stronger, better built muscle mass (in any capacity, not just being jacked or sth), your brain function will definitely be closer to optimal. Alertness, CNS stimulation...etc. Physical fatigue leads to mental mistakes

Ever watch an NBA game? You can tell a player might be fatigued because he'll settle for a jump shot instead of just going to the rim. That's a mental mistake. You're tired, so you settle for the lower percentage shot...If you're tired when you play poker (prob shouldn't be playing at all, arguably), then you're prone to tilt or just simply not being able to concentrate/think things through/spot a bet pattern or your own tendencies drifting too far...
